If he can throw strikes consistently his peak as a starter was mid to upper 90s for 80+ pitches. The problem was you never knew if he'd throw strikes, vividly remember in 2023 going to a bar to daydrink and watch UF-Tennessee, Cags didn't make it outta the first inning literally couldn't find strike zone. IDK where velocity would be at pitching wise now but last 2 starts at UF it ticked down the low 90s. I believe he will adjust to big league pitching same way he massively cut down strikeout numbers between sophomore and junior year. Keep the faith, Jac will make things happen he is just different.
Apologize if clogging up thread (fast forwarded) but probably best game he pitched here, stuff is real at its best.
I think after this offseason they’ll definitely use him as a bullpen arm. After a few games he already has like 4 of the 15 hardest hit balls by the team. They said his discipline is awful but it’s been fine for me. He’s a gentleman and saving his first big fly for next Tuesday so I can watch it in person.
Yeah can definitely forsee the type of "come to Jesus" meeting where the chases are addressed in the sense that talent can't 100% carry you in the show. It is pretty incredible how MLB talentworthy pitchers can literally thread a needle with pitches.
For fucks sake. Very first batter 0-2 then completely avoids the zone for a walk. Why are they all such assholes?
Just the kings of not bringing in prime run chances. 1 and 2 hitters battle to hits on two strikes, let’s just leave em
