If Lynch is gonna do anything remotely like that consistently from the pen that could help shore up some things. Less Stratton, for example
Watching him walk back to the mound with out a limp and Salvy was already pointing to the bullpen to start warming up. Trainers say “looks ok, let’s try”, Salvy shakes his head and tells Q he isn’t, 5 pitches later he’s out of the game.
What happens if it gets abandoned? Replay or does the game continue from the 5th innings some other time?
if they had finished the 5th it would be called a win for the royals. since they have not it would be a “no game” if not restarted. obviously the guardians would be happier to get a no game than a loss since they’re down. my guess is since this is a big game and our starting pitcher is out, this will restart but could be a while
In 2014 the game that kicked off the playoff run was a win vs StL. It ended at like 3:30 AM. We went up the top of the inning and then the ref called the delay in the bottom half. StL wanted the game called because it goes to the score of the last completed inning which they were winning. Their ground crew were late getting the tarp on/off and said the field was too bad they couldn’t get it playable. Alex Gordon threw a couple 40lb bags of diamond dry over his shoulders and started taking them out to the field himself. Head Ump essentially told Matheny (or whoever their manager was then) he wasn’t calling the game and giving them a W when they were 1 out away from a loss.
