That John Denver's full of shit
This debate is happening again on twitter stemming from this guy’s tweet.
Should replace Tommy James with Bob Seager and you’ve probably got the winning list.
I have no idea what I said in this topic last time. Alabama and Mississippi have strong lists I imagine
Bon Jovi isn’t even in like the top 50
Krispy Kreme aka Froggy Fresh aka The Baddest deserves a spot on Michigan’s if you ask me
jon bon jovi
my favorite metal album so far this year is by a band called Vanum from New Mexico
Big Head Todd and the Monsters
(Maybe-ish) Earth Wind and Fire
String Cheese Incident
Yonder Mountain String Band
Mount Rushmore's are only for drive by States.
sam beam (iron and wine)
band of horses
jeezy was born in Columbia
If we're going that route, give me Rob Thomas
oh most definitely. just throwing names out there that haven't come up
Not a musician exactly but I'd drop in Berry Gordy.
The Eagles and Motley Crue? The fuck, man
That’s a good list, covers all genres
It’s based on popularity and not artistic merit and therefore sucks butt!
It’d certainly be an interesting looking mountain
Don Henley deserves to be shot out of a cannon into a mountain, not sculpted upon one.
I can’t really argue that
I don’t know who is all deserving of the Oregon Mt. Rushmore but I do know a spot is reserved for the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies
New Jersey, fucking embarrassing itself today. smh
Motley Crue over Metallica? Kindly fuck off
Elvis was born in Mississippi
Man going off individual states alone these lists suck.
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Robert Earl Keen
Jerry Lee Lewis
Hall & Oates
DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince
Boyz II Men
Beanie Sigel and Freeway
To name a few.
George Strait and Kelly Clarkson? The fuck is wrong with you?
George Strait has more business on that list than Robert Earl Keen and Lyle Lovett. If you're going to put the Texas Country subgenre on there, you've got to include Guy Clark and Jerry Jeff Walker.
Clarksdale, Mississippi could beat most states. Sam Cooke, Ike Turner, Rick Ross, Nate Dogg, John Lee Hooker, and several others were born there. A shit ton of others (including Robert Johnson) lived there.
Without question, Black n Blue.
The thinktank of tmb's butt rock thread
Gotta think the winner is CA with in my (scholarly) opinion:
Real question is who's the Mt Rushmore of musician Mt Rushmore states?
I'll go with CA, WA, FL, MS
minneapolis has prince and bob dylan
Name a more iconic duo
go fuck yourself
George Strait and Kelly Clarkson
Guy Clark is certainly on my Mount Rushmore. George Strait is a hat signing a shitload of Dean Dillon songs, and belongs nowhere near this list.
And Jerry Jeff is from New York.
Ronald Crosby is from New York; Jerry Jeff is from Texas...
Either way, the point was that Jerry Jeff had a huge role in developing the uniquely Texas sound. Robert Earl Keen, while I like him, has no business on a Texas Mt. Rushmore.
Dildo Dawgins is a great name
There’s a Robert Johnson doc on Netflix that I added to my list and need to watch. Essentially that he was so good that the legend is he made a deal with the devil.
Agree on Robert Earl not belonging, although he’s a pretty big deal her to a lot of people. Disagree on Jerry Jeff’s influence.
Robert Earl Davis on the other hand....
Mississippi could make a Mount Rushmore of blues legends before even considering Elvis and Cooke
Edit: Should have kept reading the thread where this all got brought up.
Bump because no sports
