That was my first thought. The "you stayed" line and her delivery got me. Don't like how they're glossing over that.
i just can't imagine the similarity between "you stayed" and whatever it was she said last night were a coincidence. she might be glossing over that, but that doesn't mean the show is.
Especially since Jimmy was at home waiting for her. I think the show might be trying to emphasize the dichotomy between their respective reactions to dealing with the emotional issues of the other. Jimmy stayed there for Gretchen when her depression basically put him through hell. His emotional issues were triggered, and Gretchen reacted differently. Jimmy wanted her to come back home and "stay" with him, but she chose to go the other way. Hopefully they are building to Gretchen realizing, yes, Jimmy hurt her, but he deserves some understanding after how he reacted to dealing with her own emotional breakdown.
Yeah they just couldn't do it at episode 5 I think it'll be this season, maybe next when they end up together again
That was just disturbing. It’s amazing how they can write such a disturbing episode when you put it in the context of nothing significantly bad happening (death, tragedy, etc.). That said, I guess offering blow jobs to 15 year olds, drunk driving getaway from the police, and ditching your family at your nieces birth aren’t run of the mill happy storylines. Not sure what I watched, but it was powerful. Zosia Mamet was also great.
I mean she gave a bunch of teenagers alcohol and cigarettes, sexually assaulted one, and made another one eat pet food by offering and attempting to sexually assault him as well. Thats pretty damn disturbing. Crazy thing about that episode is that after making me feel squeamish at how troubled Gretchen is they also made me empathize for her.
Damn does this show do an excellent job of showing the effects of trauma from your youth manifesting as adults. Still finding in ways to shade in characters we've known for a few seasons is really impressive.
The split screen like the first episode made me smile but coming right after Gretchen saying she wants to be with Boon I'm confused.
I think when he left she realized it was jimmy she wanted. The song that they played is called I Want it made me think she wants Jimmy
I feel like I missed an episode. When did Vernon get cucked by a gay guy? Did I watch that episode drunk?
Maybe 2 episodes ago? When Gretch was the guest on Vernon Down the House and they introduced the gay guy as also the worst.
I can't put my finger on it, but there's something I'm not enjoying about this season. It's still funny and has those moments, but not nearly at the level of the last two years. Am I alone here?
Edgar going hard on his former military buddy really hit home with me. It obviously went over the top, because it's this show, but, like most of the most intelligent scenes in the show, it really rang of a lot of truth in regards to how Veterans feel in the country right now. Surface: "We respect your service." Deep down: "We hear about how fucked up I'm the head a lot of you are after your service, so we are going to pass."
Wow, this show is going more and more disturbing and deranged. I like it, but holy crap at Edgar and also Gretchen at the end.
It’s uncomfortable and disturbing. It’s like they sucked us in with the comedy and now we have to feel real stuff.
I'm with you - still a very good show, something just not on par. However I will watch Gretchen masturbate 100/100 times
I kind of like Brooklyn 99 better at times now that Jake and Amy are together. Parks with Andy and April / Ben and Leslie
Loved La Bamba and Young Guns growing up so I was really excited they actually had LDP on. My wife has never seen La Bamba and doesn’t like Westerns. She had no idea who he was.
