In fairness, this reaction is terribly english too. Facts: The EPL may be the richest league in the world, but that doesn't mean anything for homegrown talent. This has been a story for years. There's no reason to expect an English team to be elite based strictly on the domestic league. If you want to expect them to be elite, you do so based on history, pedigree, and the culture of the sport in England - not the domestic league which is saturated with foreign talent, including Icelandic players.
