It's free as long as you already had enough space to backup your current iPhone. If you near a computer though, backup through iTunes and check the box for an encrypted backup. When you restore to the new phone you won't have to re-enter all your passwords for everything. Also if you use any of the health data, it will not restore to new phone unless you restore through iTunes using the encrypted backup.
Is your iPhone still tied to only one iTunes installation like it was five years or so ago when I last had an iDevice?
Now, I don't know if they some how perform better or the phone is more power friendly so they perform better. but just based on power and size, Samsung's are bigger.
I don't know exactly how long but I would imagine it would be quicker than doing the restore from iCloud which typically takes a while to actually download all your data in the background. I would think it would be well under an hour to do the restore from USB.
I haven't seen anything specifically but Apple is usually pretty good about under promising and over delivering in these situations. The only caveat with that would be if they are getting a really low yield of acceptable devices in this color. The process they go through to make this particular model is pretty ridiculous from what I've read. You can always keep an eye on stock at your local Apple Store as I'm sure they will start to get a few of them coming in randomly in the next few weeks and if you time it right then you could just cancel online order and buy it in store.
It said why apple uses a smaller battery because they are under spec'd vs android, smaller screen and eliminates background processes, but it still wasn't a side by side comparison....which I have not seen nor know. Size wise it is smaller, which was my initial point. I don't want to get into apple/Droid argument bc they are essentially the same in nearly most practical sense.
Anyone know if it's possible to use airplay to stream from phone without full mirroring? Was able to in iOS 9.
Good to know. Fucking sucked when I got a new computer and I had to resync the 50+ gigs of music onto my iPod if I wanted to keep using the autosyncing.
That doesn't answer your question FYI. What your asking is syncing to a new computer and you can't do that, it will say "Erase and sync". That hasn't changed.
Well shit. What if you just want to download the iOS update on to it instead of the OTA? The ethernet connection at work is a million times faster than the shitty wifi.
Before you plug it in go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check "Prevent iPhone, iPods, and iPad from syncing automatically"
Anybody been out to see what stock is like today? Going to swing into a Verizon or two on lunch on hopes that they have something good now and cancelling my order.
Scouted 3 Verizon's and an Apple Store - Not a 7+ in sight that hasn't been claimed. There was one guy harassing people with a preorder trying to get theirs.
Thank you. Probably at least another year until I switch to iPhone, if I don't change my mind by then, but saving the answers to my questions so I don't have to hunt them up later.
The 7+ has sold out. Saw an article about that either yesterday or today. If you haven't already ordered one you ain't getting one soon.
Called a few att stores today and after the 3rd one the guy said they will only be getting pluses in that will fill preorders before they get any inventory to sell. My wife had a 5 and phone is just awful now. Went into a nearby store and upgraded her to a 7 and ordered a black 7+ 256GB got myself. Didn't want the 256 but it was only a couple bucks more a month and would get in almost a month sooner. Now I'm debating giving up my unlimited data since I pay way too much now.
Finally gave mine up when I got the 6. The wife and I(plus her mom, who uses zero data) share a 15 gb plan, and with rollover, I'd never gone over it. Stream music every time I'm in my car. I fought it for a little while, but it just lost the usefulness vs hassle after a while.
That's where we are now. Checked our data and avg over last 3 months was just under 10 GB with the majority of it being my 3 year old watching kids YouTube in the car. I could really use the hotspot especially for work. Thanks for the extra confidence in making this decision.
Ya I went to Verizon to check and they had the 7 but not the 7+. I'll wait a little bit but I'm cool with that.
Cancelled my jet black preorder and changed to matte black, just got it in. Awesome phone. Matte black is fingerprinty as hell cant imagine how bad the jet black is gonna be in that regard.
Unless you are streaming music at an extremely high bit rate, or stream hours on end of music every day, streaming music really doesn't use that much data. I streamed about 30-45 minutes yesterday on Amazon Prime Music and it only used up 12.18 MB. I have it set to auto quality and I had a strong LTE signal so I assume it was streaming it at high quality or close to it.
The thought of jumping into a pool with my iphone is something that will probably never be comfortable with me
So I just updated to iOS 10, so far the only annoying thing is that the Lock and Keyboard click sounds changed. That's been a constant for the last 8 years, fuck man. I'll probably turn the keyboard clicks off now.
One slightly bigger isssue. Can I no longer swipe left to delete emails from the home screen? I do that with all the junk emails I get.
