She would be a lot better and more sympathetic if she had been likeable at some point during the shows run instead of the insufferable nag that she has been since the start.
Never got the Skylar hate. I mean I don't love the character but she doesn't bother me either. From her perspective she was a fairly normal housewife who got pregnant late, had her husband diagnosed with cancer and had to deal with the possibility of losing him and rasing a baby alone. Then he seemed perfectly ok with dying and leaving her alone, then he started acting completely odd for months while she knew he was hiding something. Then she finds out her husband, the nerdy science teacher, is a drug dealer and eventually a killer that set off a bomb in a freaking nursing home that killed 3 people and was the talk of the town and showed not an ounce of remorse or regret. Also she witnessed him laying in the crawl space saying that they're all dead and cackling like a mad man. Is Skylar supposed to be cool calm and deluded like Walt? The catatonic thing is a bit crazy but I guess I don't know how a housewife who's husband turns into an emotionless, drug dealing, murdering phsychopath in a year is supposed to react?
Agree completely. Some people want nothing but explosions and sex and no realistic interactions or story-lines away from the action.
Agree with most of this. It's just unfortunate that her plan is so stupid as Walt showed. She eventually did get what she wanted, but her long-term plan is basically non-existent. Maybe her position is that weak, but before she hops in the pool, it'd be nice if she had any idea what her end game was. Plus I know very few mothers who are all "I don't want to see my kids at all." She's afraid of Walt. It'd make more sense for her to just take her daughter and leave.
You don't understand the HATE for Skylar? How? You're not supposed to like her. That said...she is necessary for the show.
I guess a better statement is that I don't get the hate that has always been there for her. Its not like she was liked then hated. She's always been hated. I hate Walt waaay more than Skylar right now. That said Walt is definitely the most intriguing character
The cancer line was just fucking epic. Walt seamlessly dissects her plan and shows how much smarter he is, and she drops the only bomb she can that will still hurt him. Perfect.
People hate that the character is on the show though, not that she isn't likable. They don't want any interaction for Walt other than killing people and cooking meth. And I don't necessarily agree that you are supposed to "hate" her. You are supposed to have mixed feelings because it is such a fucked up situation Walt has put her in and her emotions are all over the ballpark without anyone to confide in. I don't like Skylar, but I think her character is pretty perfect for what she was and has been going through over the last year. You should not like her, but at the same time feel bad for her. You should hate that she isn't sure of what to do or how to react, but understand why that is. Like Verbal Kint said, people hated her from the start just because she was an impediment to the show being nothing but drugs and violence.
I love the character but I mean he's a horrible person at this point. Can't really root for him to win anymore, more like just waiting to see what will actually cause his downfall
He is a drug dealer that has murdered people, including almost killing a 6 year old, and is tearing his family apart. You shouldn't like him. He is a great character, but like Skylar you should both dislike him and feel sorry for him.
Skylar says the kids being in their house with Walt isn't a safe environment, then proceeds to chain smoke in that very house while the kids are spending the night at their aunt and uncle's. What a hypocritical bitch.
Maybe I'm weird, but the show is on the verge of what I would like to see most for a short while. Walt & Jesse making a dick of money and getting along with each other. I know it's not sustainable as a show that way, but it would be enjoyable.
Kay sucked worse. She knowingly married the leader of a powerful crime family and then acted shocked that he had people killed.
This makes no fucking sense at all. If she wants the lung cancer to come back, why wouldn't she chain smoke in the house?
I understand hating him as a person, but I still thought that everyone rooted for him to get away with everything.
Last season I was firmly rooting for Gus to beat Walt while knowing full well that it wasn't going to happen. This season I'm rooting for Jesse not to die even tho that prolly happens too.
Every character on the show has shown tremendous moral flexibility, even Hank. They've all shown that they're capable of breaking bad so to speak. Only certain characters have actually done it.
I'm team Hank busting Walt's ass and putting him behind bars. I definitely want to see Walt hit the big time though Nd go crazier.
I took the watch as a more symbolic form of Mikes earlier comments about Walt being a ticking time bomb just waiting to blow.
Here's my for the end: 1. Walt-Dead in finale 2. Skylar-Dead in the next few episodes(possibly #8) 3. Junior and Holly-Live 4. Hank and Marie-Live taking care of Junior and Holly 5. Mike-Dead 6. Jesse-Lives and picks up Walt's hat after he dies in huge gunfight, puts on hat, fade to black.
That would symbolically imply Jesse is taking over as the new Heisenberg, and that'll never happen. He'll never be as twisted as Walt.
It's funny how Jesse has evolved. He was just a little wannabe thug piece of shit early on, now he's kind of a moral compass.
Ridiculous rationalizations, just like Walt. It's ok to poison kids as long as you're pretty sure they won't die just so you manipulate your former partner to your side again, even though you have shit on him nonstop.... Walt is a sociopath, his attempts at rationalizing his actions are incredibly flimsy and Skylar is right to call him out on that. Look, nobody likes Skylar, but she's not wrong. Someone that is willing to do what Walt has done under the guise of protecting his family(only in danger because of his actions to begin with) is not to be trusted in any way.
The creator of the show has literally said that he's attempting to start out with a perfectly likable character and transform it into a maniacal sociopath to see where people stop rooting for him. Team Hank Busts Walts ass and probably kills him.
Oh I wasn't being serious. Obviously she shouldn't be smoking when the infant is around, but who fucking cares? I'll take a lap. Didn't even think about it in terms of Walt's cancer...good call.
missed a few pages and don't really feel like going through them all but a couple questions: 1. what's the story on the german company? how they are involved and what's future speculation regarding them? 2. so gus was a big shot in chile or comes from a powerful family or something. what's the story on that and when do we think that comes back up?
