Dawes was badass the other night, much better than their subdued studio albums. Played two songs with opener and they should invite him to be part of the band.
I will be at Isbell this Friday night and DBT in Nashville in November. AFter all these shows I still get excited.
Just found this thread and very excited. Two of my favorite bands/artists of all time, and really like all the other bands I've seen referenced on the thread thus far. Wife gave me a Wes freed original show poster the first Christmas we were dating. We live in Richmond, and I've actually met Wes a few times. Super nice guy, and think he was pretty damn surprised I knew who he was. :coolstoryhansel: Any who, excited about this thread.
Isbell, DBT, and Dawes Anyone here a New Madrid Fan? Might go to the show at the GA Theatre Saturday night.
Saw them back in early August when they played the aftershow for My Morning Jacket at the Fox in Atlanta. Thought they were pretty good.
Definitely leaning that way especially since a lot of the bars will be slammed with bammers and also charging covers.
Yeah, I actually kind of hated Athens on big gameday weekends. The crowds dt can get out of hand fast.
Really pumped for Isbell (and Prine) tomorrow night. Thinking the facts that it's so close to his hometown and it's the second show of this portion of the tour should provide for a really excellent show. Hoping so.
how was the show with the official exit of Tay(keys) splitting yesterday? Almost went tonight. I started driving and got to Colquitt County and turned around figuring it was best I didnt go. Pretty sure I'm gonna go to their show in ATL in December
Huntsville shows are usually pretty good. Compared to the places he used to play in town, the venue is really nice. I spoke with your cousin about getting a beer beforehand. When are y'all getting in town?
Gotcha. I've got dinner plans before so I may try to catch up with y'all after the show. If you're looking for a place to drink before, I'd suggest Old Town Beer Exchange or Below the Radar.
Lucero was kick ass last night. Opened for themselves with an acoustic set, which was awesome. Nichols was like "yeah, it's a little awkward and egotistical, but what the hell, why not?" Playing a free surprise show in Chatanooga tonight if anyone in this thread is in the area. Acoustic Set Went Looking for Warren Zevon's Los Angeles Wandering Star When You Decided to Leave Baby Don't You Want Me In Lonesome Times Better Than This Ain't So Lonely Hello Sadness The Man I Was Little Further West Last Night in Town Into Your Eyes They Called Her Killer Texas & Tennessee Hate and Jealousy Full Set: On My Way Downtown Nights Like These Sweet Little Thing Chain Link Fence I Woke Up in New Orleans Noon as Dark as Midnight Slow Dancing Can’t You Hear Them Howl Raising Hell Throwback No. 2 Tears Don’t Matter Much The War All Gone (?, was supposed to be bonus ITunes track on album) My Girl and Me in 93
Funny thing from the show last night, apparently Ben wrote Texas & Tennessee and They Called Her Killer about the same girl. Said he got a call from her this week after the new album came out asking him if he had written another goddamn song about her. He was like "uh...maybe?"
I had to pick up a friend at the airport last night because his dad went down to Tuscaloosa for that show Jealous I am

$12.99 per night or $19.99 for both nights to stream Isbell at the Ryman (Sunday and Monday) http://tourgigs.com/show/jasonisbell_ryman_live/
this made me check out their website. album drops on 10/30 and is really reasonably priced. the super deluxe version has the whole thing on 5 lps, includes the cds, and some mini posters for 60 bucks.
Sturgill Simpson was scheduled to play last night and tonight in Atlanta. Apparently, came out and said he was struggling with allergies and that he couldn't sing, but that'd he'd give it a go. Tried for a half a song, then stopped and said he couldn't do it. Said he'd come back and play make-up shows (coming back in December), but instead of sending everyone home, called random people out of the crowd to come up and sing since he couldn't. Basically, Sturgill karaoke with Sturgill and his band on stage.
Went to the Isbell concert last night at the Ryman. Was pretty awesome. They played straight through Something More than Free before taking an intermission and then playing some DBT stuff and some of his own. After intermission they played (not in this order and Im sure im leaving some out): Spoiler - Stockholm - Outfit - Decoration day - Elephant - Danko/Manuel - Cover me up - Never gonna change - Alabama Pines - Codeine - Flying over water Was really cool seeing him play the album all the way through. Mentioned that this will probably be the only time he does that for a long time. Few of the songs he hadnt played for a live audience yet, like Hudson Commodore. Just great overall concert.
Yeah he only will play one night all the way through for each album. did the same last year at the Ryman with Southeastern
Either way, I'm really glad that I ended up with seats to the Sunday night concert rather than one of the other 3 nights he played. I'm sure every night was/will be awesome, though.
