got the 6P this evening and really like it overall so far except for the side button placement I'm already accidentally hitting. Fingerprint scanner is excellent. got a new random number assigned from Fi for it and am going to forward my calls from my existing phone/line to it for a while and see how it does. Also not going to root yet. I usually root to unlock hotspot, but that comes free on Fi (fuck off, Verizon) so I don't have an immediate pressing need right now. Might root to add some features like tap/knock on and off but I want to experiment with the fingerprint scanner for a while first.
My two complaints are the side button placements because I have the same problem and how slick the phone is. Hopefully getting a case will fix both of these issues.
Perfect. Seriously though, the thing is slick as fuck. I used to put my old phone (which had a case) in my lap while driving. Did that once with this phone and it ended up in the floorboard while I was making a turn. That was fun trying to drive and not break my brand new phone at the same time.
G4, G3 or whoever else uses Spotify Is the application erratic for you as well? Shut down after 10 minutes, won't close, plays over calls et al. or continues to play when the 3.5mm jack is disconnected
Had an issue with it on my G3 but I chalked it up to running paranoid android on it. Maybe that wasn't the case... Runs great on the 5x.
I got one of the spigen cases that's pretty slim. Debating if I want something bigger and bulkier because my first N6 broke in a case when it fell off my scrubs. Debating on a clip as well because I don't have many pockets on my scrubs
I don't think so. Looking at the forums and reviews, it seems to be across the board, especially for the aforementioned phones. Been consistently like this for over a month and no update.
I had one of those hard screen protectors that are made of some kind of glass that worked pretty well on my last phone.
The idea of a new phone without a case gives me a mild panic attack.. I go case and screen protector.
This is one i ordered and am waiting on. You can't tell it's on the phone once you put it on. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017EE2L7O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
I've always used the zagg screen protectors. You buy them once and they warranty it for life. I have a tempered glass one on my note 4. The idea is the screen protector shatters and your screen doesn't. I shattered my first protector and they sent me another one right away. http://www.zagg.com/us/en_us/invisibleshield/glass-screen-protector
I protect mine so I can resell it for more. Anyone want a perfect note 4 with screen protector, 3 cases and two extra batteries?
Have kids so team slim case and glass screen protector. TDintheCorner if your seed ever takes you'll understand.
thinking i'm gonna do the project fi thing. most months my bill will be ~$20 cheaper, which is good b/c i'll likely do the monthly payment for the phone.
Always get a thin case to protect back from scratches for resale purposes but don't bother with screen protectors that degrade the image and feel weird to touch. Anyone know of a way I can have my texts on my Verizon phone auto forwarded? Phone calls are easily forwarded but I can't find a way to with texts. Doesn't help that its from an iphone
Team invisible shield + thin black case. Saved the corners from getting little jnicks and corner scratches many times. My phones usually look nearly immaculate after 1 year if use with the above. I couldn't imagine going naked.
So you're an internet wizard so shouldn't be hard to find with some googlin or XDA If its a recovery issue sometimes you can dick around with recovery options and get it to work or you can boot into the fastboot menu. If not you can use ADB to push a recovery or rom that will get you back to normal
ADB- Android Developer Bridge, its just MSDOS/terminal you can use to push/flash things to your android directly, most surefire to unbrick.
No case for me but my phone (HTC One M8) is pretty damn tough. It has fallen to some hard surfaces and the screen and hardware are still perfect.
If your phone is rooted warranty is usually bye bye. The trick is to have insurance against spills/submersions, that way if you brick the phone its going to go for a little bath... IN THE MICROWAVE. But in all seriousness its hard to fuck up a phone to the point of no return with ADB. You may have to repeat some steps but you can usually fix anything with ADB and a little help from XDA.
My thoughts after carrying the LGv10 for a week. Everything about it is really great except I'm struggling with the lack of physical buttons (home button, volume, screen lock). It has the fingerprint scanner on the back, which seems to work pretty well, and the volume buttons are on either side of that button, but I'm just struggling. I've carried note 3/4 for the last few years. Considering switching to the 6p to see if I like it better. The build of this phone is really solid though, I like the feel of it a lot.
I love everything about my 6p and ProjectFi. Only one small issue is everytime I go into my hospital I have to reset google fi or else it won't let me make outbound calls. And when I reset it as long as I don't activate both networks it works fine but once I activate the full network coverage it won't let me make outbound calls and I get an error message saying phone not registered. Its only at the hospital, no where else. Google is working on it for me. Their tech support has been awesome so far.
what do you mean by activate both networks, like between Tmobile and Sprint? Can we control that? I've been very pleased so far. Only potential issue I've noticed is when downstairs at my house (where I spend most of my time at home) yesterday I had "emergency calls only" instead of Fi Network. I was still connected to wifi and emailed my brother to call me and the call came through but I don't know if anyone else tried calling during that time and it didn't make it through. From everything I understand, as long as I'm connected to WiFi all calls should make it through no matter what the network status is, just makes me nervous that it says emergency calls only.
No can't control it but when you activate it it will say activated but then there is an option for "full network coverage" that's what fucks it up
can you get a repeater (sprint calls theirs an airrave, not sure for tmo) for the hospital? some work required, but Ive enjoyed the imprvoed performance. If the hospital knows about the bad service and doesn't do anything about it (or maybe wants it that way) it might make it harder for you, but my folks have a free router looking thing from sprint that improves coverage for a small area. random: supposedly the 6p is a beast of a phone from an RF perspective. I always thought the 5 was good, but its still surpassed by the radios on the OG N6. If the N6P is better, then I need to order myself one real quick.
Randomly just ordered a Nexus 9 with "points" from my wife's company's employee award system. Don't really need a tablet or anything but figured "why not? it's free". Anyone on here have a Nexus 9, and if so what are your thoughts?
Yeah but its not an issue of signal. It just fucks up if I try to do the "full network coverage". And its outside the hospital too.
I have one, and it's been great for travel. I mainly use it on planes or in the airport, but I like it a lot more for reading and media than my 5" phone (currently Moto X). I also got the Keyboard Folio (https://store.google.com/product/nexus_9_keyboard_folio) which is great for viewing and typing (particularly responding to work emails where I care about correct grammar and spelling). It's kind of pricey but well worth the investment in my opinion. The battery in the keyboard lasts for months before needing a charge; it is essentially off unless you wake it up by typing.
