finally got around to playing DS2. I'm enjoying it and don't really understand why everyone dislikes it.
Did not. Just demon souls and bloodborne. I've watched several YouTube playthroughs if that's worth partial credit.
I dont think people hated DS2 or disliked it necessarily. Its just that it was a a bit disappointing in terms of the feel and some of the mistakes made with PVP. Dark Souls, for fans of the series I think is still the benchmark, especially for those who enjoy PVP as much as PVE. DS2 is still a good game. Its just not Dark Souls.
When you are barely competent enough to make it 50% of the way through the game you're not good enough to pvp. I have come to accept my limitations.
Absolutely loved Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2. I never played the original DS2 but I've been through Scholar of the First Sin at least 15 times including a no death and a no bonfire run. I enjoy DS2 every bit as much as DS but that might be due to the fact DS had some lag and video issues on 360 while DS2 is smooth on XB1. Really enjoy going into the brotherhood of blood arena with invisible yorgh's and santier's spears for a couple of hours to break the monotony of Destiny. DS3 looks sick.
From the videos I've seen the gameplay is still very dark souls-y, (slower, more methodical than BB) but it looks like they took a lot of themes from BB with the gothic architecture and horror-movie-like setting.
I agree I want them to mix the two combat systems together, but still keep the heavy weighted combat you feel in Dark Souls because you are wearing armor and carrying a shield, so being a nimble knight moving like hunters from Bloodborne would take away from the immersion. I will definitely be nerved when they release it, but being a Veteran of all 4 games I will have to pick this up at launch.
Its beeen pretty well known for a while that From was gonna take a little of the combat charm from BB and sprinkle it inti DS 3. Im completely fine with that. Interested to see the flow of the game. Im certain it will turn out great because Miyazaki is as automatic as it gets. I trust no one in gaming more
Can't wait to bring back the Sorcerer, up to NG++ in BB and while I love the combat, missed my sorc from the Souls series. Might make one more run through BB in March, still haven't faught Moon Presence.
As much as i love BB i am disappointed in the pvp structure in the game. The rewards in the chalice dungeons really are essential to pvp and i just cant farm those things. They are brutal and one clear of each boss is enough for me
Sounds like streamers copy unlocks on Friday which fucking sucks because going to be impossible to avoid info.
I watch ENB after my initial playthrough. He's really the only lore guy I can stand. I really enjoy peeve for pvp
VaatiVidya is easily the best for lore. He really delves deep into it and is incredibly knowledgable.
I just prefer seeing ENB come to these lore conclusion's through gameplay. VV videos are nice but he's a bit to faggy British for me
I used to watch ManVsGame for any Souls stuff, but he has become so mentally unstable, it's hard to watch. You could always tell he was hopped up, doing two 50+ hours casts a week is usually a give away. But has become so woe is me, life is hard ... dude, you make well over 100k a year streaming videogames. Let's get some perspective here.
fwiw, unless it has been fixed all of you xboners can buy it from the jap store, download it, and it will be the english version.
PS4 version up on the Japanese store, but only thing in English is the in game audio. Fucking Bamco, this is reason 1000 why you don't do staggered release dates. Basically have to avoid a lot of sites I frequent for two weeks. If I hadn't preordered already, would just buy the Japanese copy, but not worth another $60.
I usually don't mind spoilers unless it's a souls game. I don't want any boss tactics spoiled for me. The best thing about Souls is figuring that shit out yourself and earning that gratification.
I'll never understand waiting years for games and spoiling them in the last weeks preceding the release.
I google movie plots as i watch them. Same with tv. Hell, same with games. I have no patience and want to know the whole story immediately so i can actually enjoy the game instead of stressing about getting done as fast as possible just so i can know the story. Regardless, it would take months for me to understand a DS3 story and boss fights take about 3 minutes to figure out (not that it will take me less than 3 weeks to actually beat a boss). So i really dont see the point in waiting.
To each their own, I guess. I enjoy doing everything for myself, and if there is any I don't understand (which happens a ton in a Souls game) I'll look it up later.
Exactly. I fully enjoy watching DS playthrough's after I've done my initial run. I like to see things I missed and see different tactics and different build metas. When you watch a souls playthrough before you play it, you are privy to so many things that kill the experience. Souls day one is the fucking best. Just a bunch of people figuring out how to progress and defeat enemies, figuring out what weapon/armor load out is the best or most fun. How exactly you're gonna spec your build and what the pvp meta is gonna look like. Spoiling souls is for limp dick queers imo. Not really. But really. Jk. But serious
Im fairly certain that there's always been staggered launches (sans BB). It's always managed to capture the same feeling on western release
Anyone else really hope there's some closure to the ending of this one? If it ends up being basically the same as the first two with the cycle continuing, I'll rage- but that's probably what they did.
