I disagree. thought book 2 was right there w book 1. Book 3 was a big drop off, but funnier. Spoiler where are you in book 2? what has happened so far?
Well, it's a quick read so even if you don't like the rest of it, it will go by quickly. Read Saturn Run. It's so good.
I'm 85% through. Thoroughly enjoying it. Spoiler the macro leading Phillips toilet to dump on Jimmy's statue just cracks me up. I laughed audibly at that. I'm at the point where they are going to confront Jimmy. I'm still waiting for an explanation as to why Martin had two packages waiting for him when he went back to get his laptop. I figure that it must be of some importance.
Finished. Definitely a fun read. I will give it a 8.5 / 10. Spoiler The 2nd package wasn't important as I suspected. As I see that there are more books in this series I hope they get to Atlantis to see the Amazonians. Obviously Jimmy is plotting his no tech revenge. I suspect I will read the next one. Hope it is worth it.
I enjoyed as much as the first book. The third book is a bit of a drop off, but I think it was more fatigue of the being in that world.
Amazon has the E book iirc. Also, book 2 is better now as I get through it more. Spoiler The Jimmy plot line is really funny at points.
I finished and have started Book 2. Book 1 gets a 3.5 from me. Loved the premise, disappointed at how the ending went and wished there was more time travel. Spoiler Feels like Book 2 will have more time travel going on, though I'm only at Philip and Martin just getting to Atlantis
made a thread for book 2 http://www.the-mainboard.com/index....cott-meyer-book-2-of-magic-2-0-series.161137/
20% in. It's goofy but fun. So basically exactly what I expected. Spoiler He just lost the wizard duel.
I just finished. I enjoyed it. 3.5/5 seems reasonable. It was a fun read and was very light and fast. The humor was good. I would've liked to have read a bit more about interactions with the peasants or time travel, but it was solid overall.
30% in. Liking it so far. The main character is a moron, but its pretty funny. Spoiler Really enjoyed the duel between him and Phillip and how terribly his hover code worked out.
Just powered through all 3 in the last few days. Definitely enjoyable, quick reads. Had a little bit of fatigue with Meyer's writing style by the end of it, although it gets better throughout the books. Probably mostly stems from reading them all in a row, like others have said.
81% through Spoiler For the most part this book has been very fun and entertaining. I laughed out loud when Phillip initially described his shitter. "Why 30 feet deep?" "to let it gain speed." Then laughed at the payoff when you eventually realize its coming down on the statue of Jimmy. A the beginning I didn't think I would like the book because I hated Martin. He seemed like a young irrational idiot. When he hooked up with Phillip I felt like he matured a bit and started making more rational decisions and really started enjoying the novel more. Then all of a sudden he has to accuse Phillip of being a suspect in the hobbit killings. Seemed really dumb when the first suspect would be the dude that has been missing for weeks. I don't know if that's the culprit yet, I had to quit reading when Martin started apologizing to Phillip after seeing what was upstairs, but it really made me feel the original dislike I had for Martin and has soured the ending so far. I hope it recovers, but it still seems out of place for reformed Martin.
Finished. Those last ones are basically my thoughts although I did enjoy the ending. Will read the 2nd one in the not too distant future, probably after Brave New World and the next Dresden.
Arkie Proud Did you read this one? Out of all the books we've read recently this is one I think you would really enjoy. Super quick, funny and nerdy.
I should. I've been busy and didn't think I had the time. I'm doing a lot of writing (for game companies). Got published, made some money. Plus, my D&D game is hard-core now. My players love it. But I'll catch up this month. Maybe. :)
Dont forget the little people that knew you before it was cool. If you dont rejoin us, Im going to delete My Best Friend from my calibre library. Think about that the next time you set your priorities... k thx bye
