It's probably dumb and I'm sure you could get more value out of just playing bounty, but riki is quite fun to play as a support.
I've heard some podcasts talk about the utility Riki, haven't tried it yet. I do love me some BH though. It's a micro and macro economics lesson with BH: enemy team had to spend money on sentries and dust while you're putting more gold into your team through track kills. By late game you can't really get close to team fights with BH though, track track shuri greaves track track shuri... Your carries should be big enough to offset the loss of your damage contribution. I try to be in position to get that crucial shuri on a channeled spell (black hole, fiends grip, death ward, etc. With Riki you can get up in it and carry, escape the action with your ult, back stab away to safety.
Yeah I played a game with him last night and that's the huge benefit to it. I was poor for most of the game, but by the end when I had diffusal, treads, butterfly, and crystalis I could really contribute to late game team fights. I'd like to play more of him that way, but he'd be much, much more effective on a team with a huge aoe stuns like tide or enigma. Otherwise the problem with his ult is people kind of just run out of it after 1 or 2 hits and it's more of just an escape as you said. I remember fear did it a while back in some tournament, though obviously more as a 4 than a hard support. Gonna try to find the video.
New MMR inflation rule: if there is a significantly higher MMR on my team at character selection, pick Lich and lane with him.

Some people try so much harder at trolling their teammates than they do playing. Make one bad play and got flamed continually until I just muted the guy. Funny thing was it was fucking 10 v 10 custom game that doesn't even count and 3 of our teammates had already abandoned.
Best game I have ever watched, Empire vs Secret game 2 ESL Manilla that just finished. Good lord the team fights were so fucking good, especially past 65 minutes. Tide, DS, Enigma, CM, Spec and a fucking Rubick which may have been the best Rubick performance ever.

Any tips for tinker? Been practicing him against bots but he scares me a bit in pvp games where he needs that flat 2k gold for travels so quickly. Viable as a safelaner or pretty much just a mid?

-Denying the ranged creep is now pretty huge. Melee creep xp goes from 62 to 45 and ranged creep xp goes from 41 to 90 -Looks like they tried to slow down the deathball meta with towers now granting armor auras. -Melee hero attack range goes from 128-150. -Cold snap now purgeable -I can see hurricane pike being completely broken. Once you use it it separates you and an enemy by 900 units, and you can then attack that unit 4 times without range restirctions. -wards now last a minute less -octarine core nerfed pretty hard -Soul booster nerfed pretty hard -Bloodthorne seems like an essentially game ending item if someone gets one. Appropriately, it's expensive as balls at 7.2k.
Heroes: -Axe gets some pretty substantial buffs. God I hate laning against him already and we might be seeing a whole bunch of him now. -Bloodseeker now has an aghs that gives two ruptures with a 40 second cooldown. (Potential ) -Chen hand of god no longer fully heals creeps -Reworked aghs on shaker no longer gives a bonus to echo, now is a blink type ability that makes enchant totem an aoe spell. Seems kinda shitty to me. -Ench Impetus gets huge ranged and slight damage nerfs. -KOTL is now fast as hell with 335 base speed -Luna's agi growth is now all the way up at 3.3 cegtfc -Mirana with an interesting scepter add. Passively casts star storm every 8 seconds. That seems like a lot. -Necro reaper scythe is now way better at levels 1 and 2 -OD gets big time nerfs to int steal, orb mana cost, and imprisonment cast range at early levels -riki gets some nice general buffs -zeus gets a couple solid nerfs -Skywrath scepter ulti now has a 5 second cooldown, but flare now lasts for 12 seconds. wat
Also, the most interesting changes might be to PA. Dagger now is basically a real attack with 60 damage plus 70% of normal attack damage at level 4. So that one dagger can potentially hurt really fucking bad if it crits. However, blademail reflected physical damage now goes through bkb, so it seems like blademail would completely rape against PA now.
Just thought about this, but wow. Lich now rapes in lane with the ability to auto deny that ranged creep over and over.
Lich level 6 while solo enemy carry would be level 4, more likely level 3 with support leeching exp. Holy fuck. Also time of knowledge, 10 minute cool down buyable exp. Also, holy fuck Skywrath's step ult + SS's shackle = instant kill for all heroes. Also HOLY FUCK at the Oracle scepter buff. The fucking nuking power is insane! Also in combo with ultimate is pretty much a guaranteed save if you have enough mana. Tower aura = anti 5 man early pushes
That's insane. Also, have I mentioned that I love Slark in pubs? Lich in lane completely robs the other team of levels. Just dual laned with Lich in this game vs. an invoker and centaur. They were 2-3 levels behind. I was 9 while Invoker was 6.
tried lich. He indeed rapes in lane. I was level 9 when the opposing viper was 6. Of course invoker is still ungodly so he destroyed mid, went 22-4 and we lost.
