I have never once understood for a single second people's obsession with talking about FF16's "lack of diversity", a game made by a fucking Japanese game developer.
Holy shit, just did the Typhon fight. I have no idea what the fuck is going on with this story but I love it. The combat doesn’t feel FF but it’s damn fun.
Played a few hours last night, combat currently feels very Devil May Cry, hoping it becomes a little better when I unlock more stuff. Rooting for Benedikta to swap sides because reasons.
Combat director made DMC combat, says this game his masterpiece. Idk if just hyping for the release, but I think it gets pretty deep later for action fans.
Don’t forget to spend ability points and get new moves. I went way too long before doing that, had like 3000-4000 AP
I'm completely missing your point. Are you saying a Japanese dev made their game less diverse but NOT less diverse in the sense they only casted their own nationality to pander to *checks notes* nationalists outside their own country? This game was made in a medieval European aristocratic setting where the power players in the world are the noble houses, of course its mostly fucking white.
Yeah once you get three move sets unlocked and can chain abilities together it gets really fun. Can’t wait to kill some of the more badass Eikons and take their powers.
The best part is once you spend AP to master abilities you can freely slot them into any eikon so u can mix your favorite moves into the eikon base powers you like the most (the circle abilities), like using the Ramuh nuke while keeping the Phoenix Dash on the same bar.
I've been doing that, I'm saving up the 1700 or so it takes to unlock that big phoenix move that restores HP.
Running around outside of the capital and the screen shakes every 30 second like a T Rex is around the corner. Surely nothing to worry about right? Also every person related side quest I do makes me want to just burn down the entire planet.
Harpocrates needs to chill. Torgal would never. Not really a spoiler but put it in spoilers anyway Spoiler
I just ran into one, Pandemonium, in a new area, absolutely mopped the floor with him. Was easier than a few of the B rank ones.
I’m not loving it, seems like it doesn’t stagger very well. Need to play with it some more and figure it out probably. I have a good setup that can stagger pretty quickly. Wind move that can pull them down at half stagger is clutch. Stagger/Gigaflare and watching strong enemies just melt is awesome.
Upgrade the base mechanic to master level and the Ulti skill to at least upgraded and it just fucking shreads. Landing the Ulti skill pretty much is an entire half stagger bar on bosses as well as charges your Eikon power to level 5, then just Garuda drag it down to finish the stagger and unload your level 5 attack while they're staggered. I've pulled off a 100k stagger damage with the last Eikon power, its fucking amazing.
Been playing obsessively since getting it. Once you hit 3 Eikons and can chain together abilities the combat gets to be pretty awesome. Only minor gripes I have are how lame the treasure chests are and that I wish more things were skippable. I don’t need a long animation detailing the rewards after every semi important battle
The rollercoaster pacing is killing me. Going from an incredibly epic boss fight to random fetch quests is just bad.
Hugo spoiler Spoiler lmao being Benedikta's (RIP I could have fixed her) rebound lay and going head over heels. This man was born to have his arms ripped off by Clive multiple times. Good riddance trash. Also I love the Titan block and 3x counterpunch. Get fucked bosses Also incredibly funny that this is Final Fantasy Animorphs.
Spoiler He wasn't a rebound, he was always just an assignment from Barnabas to Benedikta to manipulate him with sex, which we saw in the flash back scene of her and Barnabas in bed together, Barnabas wants to unite the dominants and the only other person Benedikta (possibly only) actually had feelings for was Cid Hugo essentially was just a simp
Yeah I was just fucking with you. But real ones know that Eloise is best girl. That pixie cut.... damn.
I also really enjoyed it, but long for the days of having 6-8 members in your party and deep strategy on how you manage it. Like give me FF10 sphere grid or FF12 job grids pls.
Yea it definitely felt like it was developed by a mmo team (which it was), its not God of War or Elden Ring but imo its a solid 8/10 game, the high points were absolute masterpieces like the last Eikon fight but the downsides like the crafting system or some of the side quests were really bad. I don't know if CBU3 will be asked to make another main line FF game down the line that isn't the next version of Final Fantasy mmo that replaces 14 but they'll need to improve on the single player rpg aspect more.
There's also the tried and true method of judging a Final Fantasy game which is how much depression did finishing the story give me and made me question my entire existence, which FF16 passes with flying colors.
Finally got a PS5. Attempting to prioritize some exclusives. Have already beaten TLOU and Bloodborne on previous PS's. Would you play through this or Ghost of Tsushima first? What would you have liked to have known tips-wise before you played FF XVI?
