That's what I figured the reasoning for him not wearing a helmet in the feast scene was. Got to see his face to get the full effect of how he's feeling etc (for filming purposes). But I didn't see any other KGs without a helmet on so it kinda struck me as cheap. Maybe there were others that weren't wearing theirs either.
In the same boat. I’ve read everything but I don’t remember it before I see it on the show and think “oh yeah, that!” I’ve been googling stuff but it’s not really a spoiler to me but as I said don’t do it if you’re just watching the show. I don’t even remember how it all ends or what happens to the main characters that we’ve seen so far so I stay away from that but I’ve mostly been reading about the dragons.
During the entire event I was on pins and needles waiting for the music to change and a bunch of crossbows to appear.
so alicent was mad rhaenyra slept with Cole? i thought she was just pissed that she allegedly fucked Daemon in a brothel also, daemon is impotent?
If Rhaenyra wouldn't have gone off about her "innocence" or whatever (when she was like questioning my whatever word she used is treason) then it wouldn't have been a lie. But she didn't just deny sleeping with Daemon, she went full bore into it insinuating that she was still a virgin. Which led to Alicent telling the king that her virginity was certainly still intact, which then led to Alicent's dad being fired. So after being berated by her father, she was understandably mad that she was only told partly truth and partly lie.
Maybe it's just me, but I didn't see Cole as being totally unhinged. I saw him taking out Joffrey as more of a sacrifice in order to protect Rhaenyra. Just like he was willing to die by coming clean to Alicent (albeit dumb), I think there was still an element of honor in him as her KG and he felt it was his duty to kill Joffrey and then willing to take his own life, so that Rhaenyra wouldn't be compromised as the heir. Both hers and Veleryon's secrets would be wiped clean, so to speak (well, except for the Alicent knowing part).
I agree with that. He’s the queen’s princess’s top protector and you had this weirdo approach him at the banquet or whatever and start making threats. Not saying he couldn’t have handled it better, but I kinda get the reasoning behind it (plus the fact that he’s obviously in love with Rhaenyra). I also wonder exactly how the fight started. IIRC it didn’t show the initial skirmish.
Seemed like misdirection by focusing on Daemon and Rhaenyra through the crowd, but it makes me wonder whether Daemon was involved all along somehow....just like he was with the Kings Landing stuff. Could also be that the Knight of Kisses made a more aggressive move and Cole was just there protecting Rhaenyra.
ahhh gotcha, yeah i forgot about her telling the king she was still a virgin did she sleep with cole after she had the talk with alicent or was it before? i'm assuming the latter?
if the show was telling time linearly (and i imagine it was), she came home from the city and immediately banged the knight before then getting summoned to respond to the rumors about dameon
maybe that's where the show will take it but it's hard for me to see that perspective when we know he betrayed rhaenyra to alicent. and given her role as queen and mother of the king's sons (which is where this seems to be going), i wouldn't call alicent a trusted friend or anything.
So I can't link to Insta OR post a photo of a screenshot. Does my phone have issues or is it something with this particular board?
I'm pretty sure her wearing green was a pretty big deal due to the side comment from smeagles about the Hightower's color declaring war being green. she was a cold cold bitch to everyone in that room except the hightower clan at the side table
Lol, cunt-struck was miserable the whole time she was dancing. IMO he acted in rage and jealousy, and knew he was fucked bc multiple people know what he did. I bet she’s not officially married now cause the king is likely dead, and the vows never finished. Now we’ll get a war between Daemon and CS to marry her.
I'm only through episode 4 but I'm not loving it. So many rehashed plot lines from the original show. I think if it didn't have the GoT name it would be a dud
What was the significance of Spoiler that insect pin on that person who set that castle on fire? Obviously connected with Laerys? in some way it seems. I also may be getting my characters wrong, there are so many it's hard to keep up with it all.
Larys has the bee his cane. The guys that burned Harwin alive are the guys who Larys cut their tongues out in the prison in exchange for their service
Ahhh I see. I knew Larys was behind the burning of his brother and dad. I forgot about the bee on his cane though.
Spoiler The original Hand, Otto? Hightower, was one of the prisoners/arsons who lost his tongue right? Larys and his schemes had my curiosity, now they have my attention.
100% the whole ploy by Larys was to get him installed back as Hand, and not a mute hand. He wasn’t a prisoner either, he went back home to the family estate after being removed as Hand.
I had little to no sympathy for any of the humans in this ep (some of the kids I guess, being caught in parental machinations) but a ton for the dragon being ordered to toast it’s rider
He was probably confused too. There's no directional element in the command, they should use a laser pointer or something
finally was able to watch the ep. thought it was really strong. was completely ready for some fireworks after the queen turned down what would be an amazing offer to anyone who doesn't have immediate sights on the throne just need matt smith to come back and ride back with his #1 niece/love of his live
Thought for sure the princess and gay prince would at least produce a kid. Dunno how that works, but thought they’d find a way to have a kid just to keep things quiet. Show is a lot more drama than action, right now, but it’s awesome. Hate that I don’t want until Tuesday/Wednesday, and only get 1 episode a week.
Should've take the Lady Margaery approach and just have him do his thing and her hop in for the finishing move
I know this is the tv thread, but I wonder where this season ends. There is some wild stuff coming up that I think is going to shock even the people who watched GOT….it’s that shocking. Just can’t tell if one of those is this season or if it will end up being maybe ep 1 of next season
So…obvious question (and I may have missed it) was the plan for Lano to be spared or not? Daemon killed a guy in the hall (body in the fire), and they mentioned making sure there was a witnesses (the squire who ran out)?
How does this episode stack up to the rest? I can’t watch right away this week unless I sneak it in really late tonight.
