When I start to think about how bad things have gotten at Ole Miss, I just remind myself that at least we didn't fire Mike Leach.
I think I posted it on here before, but years ago the wife and I ran into mike leach while in key west. It was the most hilarious two hour conversation ever and he really never quit talking. Joe Glenn was with him too. I've always been a fan but at that time my wife had watched several of his YouTube clips because I made her and thought he was hiliarious. So on the drive, I'm like it'd be funny if we see him during our trip; I had just read an article about him living in key west after the tech firing. We get there about 4pm, drop our bags off and decide to head down Duval grab some drinks until dinner. About 3/4 of the way down we pass the "tree bar" which is open to the sidewalk, I look over and say, "holy shit, there he is." We sit down buy him his next drink and then he proceeds to tell a two hour long run on sentence story to us. Wish I had just plopped a recorder down and hit record.
He's Pinkel's nephew. Will be rooting for him. He's also super young. Was only at Mizzou 2 years before getting the DC job
Heard that today and laughed at his rationale. That stadium is such a shithole. It's just one large concrete diarrhea bowl
story from Lincoln Riley: I’ll give you an example. My first or second year as an assistant at Tech, I was doing some work in Coach Leach’s office when his cell phone rang. He picked it up and said, “Hey, how’s it going?” And then he listened for a second and asked, “Where ya calling from?” He kept talking on the phone and I eventually sort of tuned out. Now, a short phone conversation for Coach Leach is an hour. So he was talking about this and that, and I was kind of hunkered down working on my own stuff. At some point, the call got dropped. They must have lost reception. Coach said, “Can you hear me? Are you there?” Then he closed his old-school flip phone, swung it back open and redialed. He said, “Hey, sorry I lost you.” And then they resumed their conversation for another 30 minutes or so before Coach finally hung up. After he was done, we started talking and I said, “Hey Coach, who was that on the phone?” And he said, “Oh, they had the wrong number.” https://www.theplayerstribune.com/ready-ou-football-head-coach-lincoln-riley/
He was on XM earlier today and as usual was gold. He talked about writing a college paper on Woodstock and how everyone initially thinks of Rohrschach images as something sexual then give another non-sexual answer. He hardly talked about football at all other than to say they blatantly lie about he weight of their star defensive tackle named Hercules.
Slaw currently has a coach w a different personality. He doesn't pull upsets and loses to schools he shouldn't. Will trade immediately AND HE APPRECIATES LITTLE ROCK WYD GHG
he was on portland radio this past week doing the standard interview before wsu played oregon. i don't know if he was getting bored or what but he was talking about the vegas shooting and then suddenly starts talking to someone that walked into his office or something, but he was still speaking into the phone like he was doing the interview. he was like "hold on a second," and then this went on for about a minute before they had to hang up on him. at one point he made a comment like "yeah i'm doing this radio thing" to whoever walked up to him edit: found it starts at ~34:00 ... embed seems to not be working. this is the link Code: https://soundcloud.com/kxtg-the-bald-faced-truth/bft-interview-mike-leach-4
Love Leach simply for this. Gee, at every level of college football but the highest, there is a playoff format where 20-30 something teams are eligible.
There should be some sort of gameshow where you listen to a Leach clip and have to try and guess what the question was.
Y’all are super similar to Tech in that you need an equalizer to compete at a high level. Bert is the worst guy y’all could’ve hired. You’re not going to out physical the sec west in the trenches. With Leachs offense y’all could attract legit qb talent from Texas.
