The pitch at sporting park is such dog shit right now. They resodded for the gold cup and they can't get it to take at all. Just giant chunks of turf flying up left and right. I guess they've ran into two huge issues. First they put in the underturf heating system thingy kind of like Green Bay has at lambeu and that's complicated things. Also with the way the stadium sits they hardly get any natural sunlight in the turf. I guess they're floating the idea of adding grow lights to the stadium to help it out.
Wow. After being up a man for 60 mins, missing a PK, and giving up a goal off a corner due to a horrendous back pass while a man up Sporting finally breaks through vs Houston. Benny had a wunderstrike to tie it. Dwyer puts them up 2-1 then 30 seconds later Nemeth seals it 3-1.
First time seeing the field at Yankee stadium. That's an embarrassment for MLS. Playing in a baseball stadium is an awful idea.
That was a fun game to watch. Kaka hits the post on a FK in the 90th to tie the game and NYCFC counters and scores.
SWP to red bulls and drogba to impact. Tranquillo Barnetta to union could be done soon as well. Interesting to see if the sounders use TAM on Alonso and get another DP. Fun summer for MLS.
MLS rules strike in the Drogba deal. Fire put him on the Discovery List, so Impact had to trade a bunch of allocation money to Fire for the right to sign Drogba. It is an MLS way to avoid FA but still you should be able to discover player like Drogba or Lampard or Gerrard.
Were you there in person? I was a couple of weeks ago and it looks much better in person than on TV. The camera angle on TV makes it look worse than it is. I still agree that they need a bigger field. It's pretty amazing that 17 goals have been scored in the past two games on a field that small and the games have been pretty wide open.
Would be the biggest signing in MLS history. Joseph Barton @Joey7Barton #JoeyBartonToCF97 ?? Thanks for the support. Maybe one day I may come to play in the @MLS #itsgettingstronger
Pretty much all of the games there have been pretty entertaining, plays gets sloppy at times but both sides are always attacking
Did SWP finally drop his ridiculous DP level money demands? Heard he wanted a multi million dollar salary
According to Twitter he was looking for 1.5m but he signed as a non dp at around 375k. He really wanted to play with Bradley. It's good business for red bulls. Twellman hinted at them signing a DP this window.
And kudos to the Chicago Fire scouting staff. I only assume they sent someone to the Ivory Coast 20 years ago before they were even a team and "discovered" drogba. That whole rule is so dumb.
On one hand fuck NYRB and especially Sacha Kljestan for being such a cunt On the other hand I would enjoy watching SWP and BWP play together
#WelcomeSWP Former English Premier League standout and member of England's World Cup team, Shaun Wright-Phillips has signed a contract with the New York Red Bulls, joining his brother Bradley. "We are pleased to add Shaun to our club," said Red Bulls Head Coach Jesse Marsch. "Shaun has performed at the highest levels of the game for his entire career, in the Premier League and on the international level, and brings a wealth of talent and experience. He has been training here and we have seen his professionalism day in and day out. We think he is a tremendous addition both on the field and as a veteran presence in our locker room." Shaun Wright-Phillips has been part of teams that have won two FA Cups, a Premier League championship, one League Cup and a Community Shield. He totaled 36 caps and six goals with England's national team from 2004-10 and was on England's final 23-man roster in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He appeared in England's first two games in the 2010 FIFA World Cup against the United States and Algeria. The Wright-Phillips brothers will play on the same side for the first time since 2004 with Manchester City.
Pissed that City has already played NYRB at home this season. Would love to see SWP again. Hope he can find his smile again after that disaster spell at QPR.
Yeah.....unless there has been a massive project that has expanded the mass transit network to Orlando that would be a little hard. Also dont give a crud about NYCFC until they start to benefit the big club in Manchester.
Its all good. We probably hate NYCFC almost as much as NYRB does. Actually I think we just hate everyone.
Finlay, Francis, Sam Cronin, Juninho and Gyasi Zardes replace Bradley, Gerrard, Keane and Tierney Sad it took that for Finlay to get in but glad he's on the game day roster
the Union just signed the best player in their history not named Freddy Adu in Swiss international Tranquillo Barneta.
Planet Fútbol @si_soccer MLS XI vs. Tottenham: Rimando; Beltran, Gonzalez, Besler, Beasley; Zusi, McCarty, Kaka (C), Zardes; Villa, Dempsey
So much gold in this long form about the birth of the league. Makes you wonder how they even survived the first year. http://www.si.com/longform/2015/mls/index.html
Was going to make a joke about Ricketts being available for LA. Give us them sweet Garber bucks and he is all yours. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...ndo-city-donovan-ricketts-20150729-story.html
Gerrard just basically confirmed Ricketts to LA. They asked Gerrard about playing with Zardes even though they have never even practiced together.
Also, a spaniard and Brazilian may have scored but I'm counting this as a win so far for the US OF A.
