The issue is for a property as big as SW, I can't see them attempting to launch a new and sizable arm of the universe on a streaming only outlet.
I just keep seeing Star Trek's crappy alien costumes in my head instead of the CGI ones we've become accustomed to. I don't want that. But I also don't want a humanocentric show either.
Agree. If it was on NF I'd feel better about a nice tight and concise story, but ... I not an uber comic fan like I am with Star Wars, but this feels like what Disney has done with Marvel stuff. I like the Marvel movies well enough, but I tried to watch Agents of SHIELD and it just felt so blah to me and gave up on it quickly.
Agents of Shield had a decent run playing off the Winter Soldier fallout but other than that I think the show is subpar in every aspect. If that's the equivalent of what we'd get for Star Wars then no thanks.
Yes. Exactly this. There is just such an over saturation of Marvel stuff out right now, it seems. It's too much, imo. I don't want that for Star Wars. It already seems like there is a ton of shit out there, what with Rebels and like 3 different LEGO Star Wars shows (I have no idea) and all the movies coming in the next few years. I would really hate for it to turn into "what old Legends character can we introduce this week. I don't care if it fits the story, we need to please the fans of that character!"
There's only an over saturation if you choose to consume all the stuff. I'd bet the vast majority of MCU goers don't watch SHIELD or any of the cartoons or read any of the comic books. They just go to see event theater and that's it. You can have a conversation with a fan of the MCU and bring up things going on in the comics/cartoons/TV shows and they'll have no clue.
My problem is I have a severe case of FOMO and I cant handle not knowing everything. So I'll watch this even if it's complete shit.
Star Wars is already about to be more "saturated" than its ever been before. There's already the Rebels show, plus a new movie every year. Adding a 22 episode live action show is probably too much of a good thing. If it was a 10 episode Netflix-style mini-series every couple years, I'd be down. But I fear this will just stretch the property too thin and drag the whole thing down a notch. And as others said, there's a certain level of production quality that people come to expect with Star Wars. Star Trek started out as a cheap TV show; that's its legacy. Star Wars has always been big and flashy, which is why it's only been done on TV in animated form.
No. Ive seen All the movies, shows. Read all the new canon adult books and am begrudgingly working my way through the comics even though I hate myself for it. I saw Hildago on twitter say the Lego shows werent hard in stone canon, so Im going to pass on those.
With how well Netflix series have been done I have to agree. Each program is allowed to do what they want. ABC, Fox, etc all have this sheen or look to them that I don't want associated with SW. That being said, I'd still watch it.
Finishing up Lords of the Sith tonight. It has been great, so hopefully the last chapter doesn't screw it up. On to Tarkin next.
Damn, got super excited there for a moment. Women's Volleyball went to commercial and all of the sudden it was Rogue One. I thought, "Fuck, I thought this wasn't happening until tomorrow!? Hell yeah!" but alas, t'was but a teaser commercial for the trailer tomorrow.

DO NOT WANT this would be like...Season 1 of Agents of Shield played out in Star Wars format, with the same limited budget.
