dont think he threw much breaking stuff which probably made him predictable too. But he says he feels great.
He really started to hit for the astros after we traded him, was looking like he was one of those guys that just needed a change in scenery marisnick was looking the same after the red hot start he got off to this yr in april he hit .379, then went back to Marlins-Marisnick hitting .202 in May and now .154 in June
perfect example of the state of professional sports in SFL Heat picking at #10 Panthers at #11 Marlins at #12 Fins were at #14 whole lotta meh
This is the kid I guess we have long been projected to take if he falls to us at 12 Trenton Clark | Rank: 12 School: Richland HS (Texas)Year: SeniorPosition: OFAge: 18 DOB: 11/1/1996Bats: L Throws: LHeight: 6'0" Weight: 200 lb. Commitment: Texas Tech VIDEO Scouting grades: Hit: 60 | Power: 50 | Run: 55 | Arm: 45 | Field: 55 | Overall: 55 Clark reinforced his reputation as one of the best prep hitters available with his performance at the 18-and-under Pan American Championship in Mexico in September. He led Team USA to a gold medal by topping the team in nearly every offensive category, hitting .565 with three homers, 20 RBIs and five steals in eight games. Clark has an unusual left-handed swing with a golf-style grip, but he makes repeated hard contact with his short stroke and above-average bat speed. Factor in his considerable strength and he should have at least average power. He also adds value on the bases with his solid speed and keen instincts. While he's not a true burner, Clark has a chance to stay in center field as a pro. Left field would be his likely fallback position and the Texas Tech commit should have enough bat to profile there if needed.
meh, I'm always team pitching when it comes to the draft. can never have enough and they are worth their weight in gold if you want to trade for an upgrade to the big league team if you are going to draft a position player high, he better have an elite trait already developing
Read an interesting article in espn the magazine about teams adopting the Cubs/Epstein theory of building teams with an abundance of position players rather than the theory of going with an abundance of pitching in the last year or 2 though we've seemed to have gutted the farm system and need to rebuild
well that's because they keep signing the wrong guys. besides. even if they draft a corner infielder, it will be 3-4 years before they are MLB ready. by then, who knows who will be on the team
Bust city is a stretch, but nonetheless trading away your former 1st round pick when your filling that position with mediocre vets is a poor decision.
he didn't improve as quickly and as far as they had projected. When he was drafted he was talked about as a guy who could potentially be in the big leagues in a year or 2 hes hitting about .280 in the minors, but very low power numbers
Joe Frisaro @JoeFrisaro 6m6 minutes ago If Brady Aiken is there at 12 for #Marlins. Man, I'd really double think the medicals. But would be shocked if Miami took him
Manny Navarro @Manny_Navarro now5 seconds ago Here's the draft report on #Marlins first round pick Josh Naylor http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/67565098/v85680283/draft-report-josh-naylor-hs-1bof…
2015 MLB Draft Profile: Josh Naylor, 1B, St. Joan of Arc HS (ON) By kyuss94 @spencer_711 on May 29, 2015, 2:00p 12 Thickly built with prodigious power, Naylor has one of the best left handed bats in this year's prep class. TWEET (9) SHARE PIN Summary The last of the Canadian "big three" to be profiled, Naylor projects to be the highest pick among prospects north of the border in 2015. Standing 6'1", 225 lbs., Naylor has a prototypical power hitter's build and approach. Though he has some bad weight on his frame, Naylor has some explosive athleticism that shows in his swing and arm. Though he currently lacks the foot speed for the outfield, Naylor definitely has the arm for right if a team wants to see him trim down some and focus on the position. That might not be necessary, though, as he has the bat to play at either spot. As a hitter, Naylor shows some of the best power in the class. He made a name for himself by hitting tape measure shots on the showcase circuit, and the pop shows up in games, as well. He coils his shoulders and hips and explodes through the ball, showing above average bat speed as well. Naylor does a good job of following through the ball and finishing his swing. He could show better balance, but he has good hands, a quick trigger and simple timing mechanisms. He's a bit rough around the edges as a hitter and he hits primarily to the pull side, but he has been a force for the Canadian Junior National team for multiple years. Though he needs to show more patience at the plate, Naylor is young for the class and shows power that can be topped by very few in the class, if any. With further polish, he could develop into a cleanup hitter or #5 hitter and Canada's best first baseman since Joey Votto. His stock is climbing as the draft nears, and with power coming at a premium in today's MLB, it's easy to see why. MLB Projection Naylor won't win batting titles, but has the power to hit in the heart of an MLB order and produce plus power. Projected Draft Round Late first round to early second round College Commitment Texas Tech Will he sign? As a possible first round selection, it would be surprising to see Naylor pass on pro ball this year.
Jeff Passan @JeffPassan 14m14 minutes ago Josh Naylor, the Marlins' shocking first-round pick, is a big dude. LIke, Prince Fielder style. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan 13m13 minutes ago Here's the thing about the Josh Naylor pick: If the Marlins can grab a talented player later in the draft by paying over slot, makes sense. jeff ellis @jeffMLBdraft 17m17 minutes ago Not shocked by Josh Naylor really good job with team Canada heard rumors he could go as high as 11, Fielder is the comp I was told JJ Cooper @jjcoop36 21m21 minutes ago Look for Marlins to take 1B Josh Naylor here. Expect lots of money savings. Had a big workout with them. Alexis Brudnicki @baseballexis 7h7 hours ago #MLBDraft is unpredictable but I've heard (multiple times) that Mississauga's Josh Naylor could go as high as seventh overall to the #RedSox
Loria is such a piece of shit. You know he had a hand in picking this guy because he could be signed at a discount. Also, he still hasn't delivered on that state of the art plane he promised
Marlins 1st Round Pick Josh Naylor Has Stupid Power With their first pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, the Miami Marlins selected Canadian first baseman Josh Naylor out of St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School. Rated for his elite power, the 6’1″, 225-lb left-hander has been putting a hurt on pitching for a long, long time. Can’t wait to see Naylor put on a show at Marlins Park? You don’t have to! Back in 2012, a fifteen year-old Naylor competed and won a high school home run derby hosted at Marlins Park, during its inaugural year His longest homer? A 457 foot bomb. 457 feet… by a fifteen year-old…
This is such a Marlins pick. Gonna be able to save money because it was a reach but if he pans out you have the most expensive commodity, power, for cheap.
@JoeFrisaro: With 85th pick in 3rd round, #Marlins take Isaiah White CF, speedster. First player ever drafted out of Greenfield HS in NC
