In making my world cup picks, it was hard not to put France at #1 in that group. In all 3 entries I made on ESPN I still had France winning the group. But I believe I have them losing to Nigeria in the round of 16 in 2 out of 3 of my entries. Can't ever pick Mexico to finish #1 and I don't think Uruguay are anything special.
It's hard not to be at least somewhat of a France fan when you root for the Gunners. US & England are 1a & 1b... after that I'll be cheering for individual Arsenal players to do well & not Get injured. I have high hopes for RVP & Cesc
Guess I'll have to throw England in there...after we play them of course. Between Lennon, Defoe and Crouch i'm gonna have a lot of Spurs in the fold. Maybe Croatia too b/c of Modric, Corluka and Krancjar
domenech is such a shit coach and lol @ france for being all french and faggy and not shooting him in the head after euro 2008
1. Italy 2. USA 3. Anyone who plays for Inter. Lived in Italy my whole life until 5 years ago so don't bring the discussion of me rooting for them over the USA into this thread prease...
yeah, I gave my life story in one of the weekend soccer threads that no longer exist. Only a few people saw it though because the weekend was pretty much already over.
1/2 Italian 1/2 American. Summary of what I posted in the now non-existent thread: My dad who is American moved to Milano after college and got a high paying job teaching English there(even though he got his master's in something involving business). Moved back because his roommate, now business partner, in college offered him a job where he would run/own 4 of the Wendy's in Lincoln, Ne. Stayed with my Aunt in Coral Springs while the stores were being built, which is when I went to my first football game at the Orange Bowl which is how I became a fan of Miami.
Well at least you're a real italian a not a "my great great grandfather was born in italy so its in my blood" douche
JHarris, only legit instance where not cheering for USA is acceptable. But I have to know, do you wear capris and ride a moped?
Not quite. My Dad's English, I grew up following England, and he took me to the World Cup in Japan in 2002 to the three English group stage games. My friends bust my balls for it constantly, but it's just who grew up following and that trip really sealed it.
-shrug- I was born in Atlanta, but I'm not a Georgia Tech fan. Birthplace does not equal fandom. How many of you are fans of sports teams because your parents supported them and passed them onto you?
there's a huge difference between sports teams and national teams. do whatever you want, but i think its pretty pathetic to root against your own country on june 12.
Color me pathetic then. Every sports team I follow, it's because I grew up watching it with my dad because he was the one who introduced me to sports from birth. He took me to Braves games, he took me to Clemson games, and he took me to that World Cup to follow England. If that makes me pathetic, so be it.
