FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema announced Thursday the hiring of Rob Ash as the program’s offensive analyst. Ash, a 36-year veteran head coach, most recently served as head coach at Montana State University from 2007-15. “We are very excited to add another quality coach with head coaching experience to our program,” Bielema said. “Rob will work with our staff in advanced preparation and also various projects with me. His background and experience within college football align him well with our program.” With 246 career victories, Ash comes to Fayetteville as the all-time wins leader at all three of his head coaching stops: Montana State (2007-15), Drake University (1989-2006) and Juniata College (1980-89). During his nine-year tenure at Montana State, he totaled 70 victories, three Big Sky championships and four Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) playoff berths. Ash is one of three coaches in Bobcat history to win three Big Sky titles and the only coach to lead the program to three consecutive crowns. He also was named FCS Coach of the Year in 2011. From 1989-2006, Ash served as head coach at Drake. He recorded a 125-63-2 record in 18 seasons, including four Pioneer Football League championships. Ash’s head coaching career began at Division III Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, in 1980. After recording a 4-5 record in his first season, he posted winning marks in six of the next eight campaigns, leaving Juniata with a 51-36-3 record. Ash began his coaching career as offensive coordinator at his alma mater Cornell College of Iowa in 1975. A three-year letter winner at quarterback for Cornell College from 1970-72, Ash earned Little All-America honors and CoSIDA Academic All-America first team honors as a senior in 1972. A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Ash earned a master’s degree in history from the University of Michigan in 1975 and also completed his master’s in physical education at the University of Iowa in 1980.
We came in 2nd in the Men's NCAA T&F championships yesterday. Had a two point lead heading to the final event, which Florida got 2nd to take 1st in the team standings. What was crazy is Arkansas athlete Jarrion Lawson did something that has only been done once before, by Jesse Owens in 1938. He won the Long Jump, 100m, and 200m in the same event. He had 30 of our 56 points by himself. Just insane. Sucks to "waste" a performance like that, but he should be a great Olympian and compete for several years at the highest level. Between he and Omar McLeod we should be represented very well on the national level in T&F for the next 8 or so years.
Fun fact, Arkie Proud was celebrating the birth of his 5th grandchild the last time a collegiate athlete accomplished what Lawson did yesterday
We landed RB Maleek Williams today out of Florida. Big fan of this commit. He didn't get a ton of run last year playing behind a SR Rab that ended up at USF, but averaged over 11 ypc last year

What's weird is that these type of recruitments aren't that weird anymore. edit - I guess they're still weird, just less uncommon
Solid day on the recruiting trail for Arkansas picking up a couple commits. Landed 4* JUCO TE Jeremy Patton (Bama, Auburn, Miss St, Louisville and a couple dozen other offers Also landed ATH Jordon Curtis out of Jenks, OK who we are recruiting as a DB. Has Kansas St, Kansas, Iowa St, Illinois, Texas Tech and a few other offers. We also landed a grad transfer in Jake Raulerson from Texas yesterday that had dozens of offers out of HS from all of the elites and was a top 150 overall prospect. He'll play either center or guard for us, and I expect he'll be a starter. He will have two years to play, which is big.
Pretty solid week recruiting for the hogs. Even if raulerson doesn't walk into the starting lineup, they really needed another scholarship lineman
Hey Hogview Going to be in Little Rock this weekend. Driving down Friday night for a basketball tournament and staying Fri and Sat night. Want to grab drinks one of those nights? I think I owe you iirc Also need some food recs. Would like to eat at some fine establishments if they exist. Staying in NLR at the Hilton
I may or may not be taking a job with JB Hunt and moving back to nwa. Going to hog games is definitely a factor.
Yeah, we've been kicking around the idea of moving back since that's where both of our families are. I'll know something next week and she's already talked to her hr and vp about transferring to their office in Bentonville, but I'm really leaning towards moving back. If the bubble bursts in 2018, then maybe I'll get back in it. We didn't get the bid on that diamond line, but that's gonna kick off come Sept/Oct and should be some good jobs for some folks. It'll run from Cushing, OK through Fort Smith and north of 40 all the way to Memphis.
It is. Our main thing is we're ready to settle down and start a family and going back home fast forwards that as opposed to us being here on our own trying to make it through the slump.
you keep your dusty hands off me old timer you nearby LR? I'm coaching an AAU team in a tourney in LR and should be able to break away later in the evening
In nlr Check out skinny j's, Really good new restaurant and bar. In LR heights taco and tamale, local lime, big orange, and lost 40 are all owned by the same guy and are good places to hit up. Friday night I'm going to a party at WMS in the lettermans club, not sure what I'm up to Saturday. Where are your games at?
Don't know much about him tbh. 6'2 210lbs and plays in the Catholic league. I had to ask bigjrock and he didn't know much about the kid either He doesn't have shit for offers, but visited back on 6/12 and we liked him enough to go ahead and take his commitment. He plays S/OLB for his HS team, and we are recruiting him as an OLB. Watched his film and wasn't blown away, but I trust Smitty's evaluation. Dead period is coming up, and we're already 1/2 way filled with our class. We are being very aggressive with this class and I like it. Not a ton of star power yet, but we should have ~18-20 commits by the time the season starts.
Man it's awful this year. Been this way all over the south. I just got back from Little Rock, and it's exactly the shithole I remembered it being. Outside of Hogview, every last one of those motherfuckers I met was an asshole and they absolutely hate white people. Almost got in two fights today
I'm in Conway, and I got chatted up by two gay black men at dinner on River Walk tonight, so clearly I had more success in LR than you did.
We can smell you califags from a mile away My nephew goes to school in Conway. It's a pretty lame town, but at least it's not far from LR. Would have gotten some drinks with you last night if I knew you were in town
I just got in tonight so don't feel too bad. I should probably make habit of mentioning before considering I'm here a few times a year. Conway is boring, but everyone from Acxiom basically lives here so at least that's nice.
I live about 20 minutes north of Conway. Yeah the city shuts down and doesn't have much of a night life, despite being a college town (there's like four or five colleges in the city). Nice city though.
2011 was worse, had peak temps of like 115 for a couple days.... But it's sooooooo humid and makes breathing uncomfortable A lady at my work died the other day from a heat stroke. She was in her 30's and wasn't some fat whale. Hate this heat
