yeah not sure on topgolf, might just hit up charlie yates instead but if yall are in town the weekend of may 29-31, and want to get weird, holla at ya boy
Tried to go to ladybird for the biscuits and they were having a Mother's Day brunch special menu. So mad
top golf only worth it if the one in West Midtown is open by then you're probly closer to the Top Golf in Stamford Ct than you'd be to the Top Golf up in Alpharetta.
Been away for three years. Back for a week. What do I need to know/do/eat? We have topgolf out here in Houston.
I enjoy the black dude doing landscaping in this pic while all the white people keep prancing along LOL
I voted "green city spectator" and "organic canopy", because both seemed like better public spaces FWIW. I do like that "skyscape" has common elements with the new downtown stadium. All the designs definitely improve the bridges aesthetically, but not all seem to make the area more pedestrian friendly.
Voted for both of those as well. Glad I'm moving from that 10th street bridge now though because with all the fucking apartments going up within a 1 mile radius of that bridge, plus that thing being renovated is going to be an absolute shit show.
Had quite the ATL weekend with the gf Thurs - Rathbun Steak Friday - Kimball House (awesome) and Victory Saturday - Krog Street and Ladybird Sunday - Bantam Pub and Krog Street I am fat and drunk off booze and love for ATL
My only complaint was that tame impala was Sunday, even though I know they do that to get people to come out on Sunday. Those water stations kept me alive.
I was a little irked that the Sunday lineup was the best one - but I treated it like a saturday and am paying for it today. I never waited more than 2 minutes for a beer or a pisser - which I thought was incredible
Last week in Atlanta for who knows how long. Starting to feel weird. Think I'm gonna hit up Victory and Fox Bros one more time between today and Friday. Best timing for leaving my job though because we are having a company sponsored bar crawl in Midtown on Friday, which happens to be my last day.
PeterGriffin We are partnering with the Miami Ad School. I think it affects us ad students more so than designers, but now for your last 4 quarters you can spend each quarter in a different city. Check out their website to see their locations, but there are about 10 cities that aren't listed. Australia, South America, Europe, Asia, and I think 1 city in Africa, plus several in the US. Huge news really, and it is going to open up opportunities all over the world.
Doooope, I looked at Miami Ad School's site a lot and noticed all of those locations and that their curriculum didn't seem shitty at all. Hopefully that "last 4 quarters" applies to Design students as well. Thanks for the update and I'm now ~70 days from moving.
If they don't put the streetcar on the Beltline I'm going to move. Not serious but kinda serious. Seriously, why wouldn't you? It's out of traffic, it's got to be much easier to construct, it would circle the entire city, and it would be in, arguably, the most popular destination for people who actually live in town in the entire city. Building on the beltline would almost certainly increase ridership, taking cars off the street so that in-traffic streetcars could actually operate conveniently. The ONLY reason you would place it anywhere else would be because special interests prevail. And that's happened time and again in Atlanta. If robust expansion of the streetcar system happens anywhere before it happens at the Beltline, it's a colossal fuckup.
Someone put goatse on a billboard in buckhead APD pulled in the FBI to help crack the case http://m.ajc.com/news/news/atlanta-cops-probe-lewd-appearance-of-obnoxious-bu/nmFNq/
The only place worth a shit right now is between KSM and the Park, besides connecting to Piedmont Hospital and Peachtree corridor. You won't get a lot of mileage out of the rest. Anyhow, I do expect a future sales tax to be Beltline heavy, which will make you happier. MARTA Board member told me that he knows MARTA can't get $ on their own.
I see what you mean. I would bet the portion of the Beltline that starts at KSM and ended at Marietta St. on the West Side would see decent usage, but you're right as of right now. My idea is more centered on pulling people out of the Peachtree corridor and encouraging investment/relocation in other places nearby. Basically structuring the transit in the most logical way and letting the city adapt to it. I recognize the inherent problems with that, but I can't see why anyone would leave their car and ride a streetcar up the Peachtree corridor when 1. MARTA goes there anyway and 2. The streetcar will be sitting in traffic. Just trying to think about the best way to complement MARTA, and building a ring around the city seems to be a great starting block.
So the beer law "passed" Sorry Atl broskies that your beer laws suck. ATLANTA — Gov. Nathan Deal has signed a watered-down bill allowing craft breweries to let customers take home as much as 72 ounces of beer, or the equivalent of a six-pack, but only as a "souvenir." The legislation's sponsor, Sen. Hunter Hill, R-Atlanta, said Wednesday that Deal had signed a version of SB 63 that permits customers to take home beer from craft breweries — but not as much as brewers wanted. The new law allows breweries to charge what they want for a tour, which can include beer as a free souvenir, within limits: 36 ounces to be consumed on premises and 72 ounces to take home. http://www.ajc.com/ap/ap/georgia/deal-signs-watered-down-craft-breweries-bill/nk9mc/
take old train tracks, turn them into pedestrian walkway/bike paths...then put a street car in their way. i could see doing it alongside the beltline or within really short walking distance, but would need a separate lane for it. special interests will prevail and ruin it anyway.
Yeah, this is what the Beltline website has as a rendering. Definitely a cool place to poke around if you're bored, there's some nice ideas in there. Particularly like the idea for the repurposing of the area where the Fuqua development with the Whole Foods on the Eastside Trail currently is.
I went last Friday at 7:30 and was seated in a half hour. It's basically going to be a total crapshoot, but worth it. Just have a little snack beforehand, and come ready to drink at Hop City for 45 minutes or so. It's worth it.
Lmao that's a women's networking group organized by women from my work. Knew they were going to Krog St but didn't know it was Hop City, figured a women's group would go somewhere more cunty like the Luminary.
Just had Fox Bros for the last time in who knows how long. Tears were shed, wings were eaten. Gonna miss those.
Anyone have a go-to car shop for a reasonably priced oil change somewhere around Midtown? Usually I just get my car serviced at the dealership when they have specials going on a couple times a year but want to get a few things fine tuned before hitting the road this weekend for the long drive. My wife has gone to Express Oil Change on Howell Mill but they charge like $40 for an oil change, which seems ridiculous. They have great reviews though but I was trying to see if there was somewhere with just as good of service but cheaper.
I have used Camp's Automotive (cheap) and Braxton automotive ($$$ specialty cars). Been happy with both.
Best food place that delivers to the PCM area? Since I moved here I've only used zifty for deliveries and they quite expensive. Do nearly all restaurants around here hire a 3rd party to deliver their food? I'm fat and lazy and my Friday night depends on YOU
Some kind of combine going on at Grady. Ton of people, kids look big enough to be D1. Have to spend this beautiful day at a wedding in Alpharetta. Yuck.
Chad Simmons is hosting a middle school camp at some point there iirc Grady has a DB I really like going to USCe
