Same. They saw people were doing that already and decided to join the crowd instead of having a major advantage
They (and SW) dominate PHX so I don't really have choice, unfortunately. Never thought I would miss USAir. I have gold through next year so I'll probably stick with them through that. Don't foresee doing enough traveling to earn it back for 2018.
Cho Sun Ok if you like Korean BBQ. It's also near Half Acre and is BYOB. Piece Brewery and Pizzeria; it is New Haven-style and fantastic. Their beer is ok. Hit up Sheffield's near Wrigley before/after the game.
Flights booked. Nugs going to freeze his ass off in Copenhagen, get weird in Berlin, and catch an STD in Prague over NYE
I loved Copenhagen. Was there in summer though. Beautiful women there and the city loves to party. Wish I could tell you where we went, but my memory is foggy.
Even though it's gonna be cold AF in December, I was talking to a friend that studied abroad there, and was there during winter, and said it was like a different world. Yea, really cold and short days, but very cool. Hopefully can get a glimpse of the northern lights if I can get out of the city.
I just booked my flights, so my schedule is far from set. But I land Tues, Dec 27, and am tentatively planning on catching a train to Berlin Friday, Dec. 30. I know it's middle of the week, and obviously holidays, so not exactly a convenient time. We can see how it goes.
I have no vacation time and id have to pay myself. that wouldnt be an issue most other weekes but everyone here wants vacation between christmas and NYE.
Sorry in advance, I know Croatia has been talked about a ton in here, but instead of going back page by page looking for the posts, was going to see if anyone had a quick summary for a friend of mine heading over there soon. She is doing 4 nights (quick I know) between Split, Hvar and Dubrovnik, then onto Greece. Just seeing if you had any can't miss sites, restaurants or bars in those cities. Thanks
Hvar is the greatest place ever... Cut out Dubrovnik. Split as well unless it's just 1 night and she's using it to go to Krka (versus Plitvice bc you can swim). With as little time she's got, she should maximize her time in Hvar. Is she single? Like to go out and drink? How old?
It's the best party you've ever been to in the prettiest place you've ever been to with the most attractive people you've ever been in
Do not cut out Dubrovnik...its amazing. Hvar is a great place to party, but it's not as stunningly beautiful as Dubrovnik. Definitely go to Hvar, but 4 days there is over kill.
Where is she flying into? I'd try to get to Split ASAP, solely to catch the ferry to Hvar. 2-3 days there, then ferry it to Dubrovnik and spend 1-2 days there. I also really like(d) Dubrovnik, wouldn't necessarily want to cut it out. Will be easy to get from Dubrovnik to Greece, too. If she's there for that short of a time, I'd try those 2 cities.
Sorry my details are rough, was discussing at a wedding this weekend. She is boating (catamaran) between all the cities, so that's why she's moving quickly between them. Just 4 girls
Revenue based was inevitable as business travelers with expensive accounts are the only people they can still put the squeeze on to make money. Sucks that we all missed the golden age of airline rewards, tho. No more upgrading to first class on international flights for 10k miles
Agreed, I think a lot of it comes down to what the traveler is trying to do. It seems like most of your trips are centered around partying hard, which is awesome. There are tons of cool things to see and do in both Split and especially Dubrovnik but the party scene isn't what Hvar is.
Folks that have been to Berlin: does Berghain nightclub live up to the hype? This guy's the bouncer: Spoiler Everything I've read gives it quite the reputation. Looks pretty incredible. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berghain
Be careful rolling deep with Americans, my friends from there told me that the clubs are extremely exclusive when it comes to allowing tourists in. I have no idea how that comment pertains to this place, but a crew I rolled with wasn't allowed into a few places when we tried to go out without a host.
That Berghain place sounds familiar. rezy do you remember what clubs we went to when we were in Berlin? We went in 2008 and I know we did a pub crawl that went through a building that was supposed to be demolished but a whole city of squatters were still there and they wouldn't bulldoze it down so they just set up shop and had bars there and everything with guys wearing old german helmets spitting fire out of their mouths. Also remember we went to some crazy club that was halfway across the city that was like 10 clubs in one or something? It was insanity, at least what I remember of it. I left rezy on a subway car that night when I told him to get off at our stop and thought he was behind me until I got off and turned around to see him passed out in a seat as the door closed and he zoomed off into the night ahh memories
don't remember any of the clubs we went to, just remember waking up on the train near the zoo the morning after
Anyone been to Austria before? Thinking about going in June, flying into Vienna and will stay two nights then head to Obertraun for four more to hike around and enjoy the lake
My next 60 days consists of two Asheville weekends, 5 days in Riviera Maya, and 4 days in key West. Charleston and college football all other weekends. Good time of the year
Pok Pok, Tasty n Sons, Andina. The former two are well worth inevitable wait IMO. If you're looking for something slightly more obscure, go to the Cascade Barrel House (well known) and then to Kachka nearby for their reverse happy hour 10-12. It's a little Russian restaurant. Quite possibly the best meatball sub I've ever had. Also order the fish jerky.
I'm also white and had a lot of brunches. I'm not sure if it was the best but it's way up there. Olympia Provisions was really good too.
