FWIW re: the Priority Pass lounges, I've had it for a year or two and been pretty underwhelmed by it. You only get access to certain lounges in certain cities. So even in a large airport like London, Paris, LA, NYC, etc. you may only get access to a lounge or two. For example, I just looked in the Priority Pass blooklet I have - which is a bit outdated - but the Air Canada lounge is the only lounge I have access to in Paris. If you aren't flying out of one of the terminals with access, you won't get any lounge benefits. I've come across very few times where I have access to a lounge in a terminal I'm flying out of. Not to be debbie downer, but I just wouldn't count it as a huge selling point and wouldn't use it as a factor in paying a card with a $450 annual fee.
where downtown? unfortunately wifes half-brothers took us to a bunch of bullshit places our only day downtown Tillikum dope brunch near Space Needle and can do reservations. Radiator Whiskey near Park Place supposed to be awesome, didn't get to go, did go to The Whiskey Bar around there and it was cool. Un Bien was amazing sandwiches, it's across the bridge North. RockCreek Seafood was probably best overall meal, again, North of downtown across bridge. Walrus and the Carpenter for raw oysters. Downtown I wanted to hit Salumi for sandwiches (supposedly insane lines if you don't get there early). Il Corvo for fresh pastas, again go early or prepare for line. Canon for drinks and Quinns for food if in Capitol Hill.
Yes, Plitvice Lakes. One of the coolest national parks I've ever been to. Absolutely go there. Zadar is supposed to be pretty cool, never went. Novalja, on Pag, if you want to rave. Kind of a young crowd, though.
Echo a lot of what Lyrtch said. Canon is one of the cooler bars I've been to. Taylor Shellfish Farms is another good place for oysters. If you like really good beer, one of the best days I had out there was bouncing around to different microbreweries in the Ballard area, North of where you are---like a 5-10 minute Uber. There are 5-6 awesome breweries within like a 1-2 mile radius, pretty common/popular to walk to all of them and try a beer. Fremont Brewery (in Fremont) is also really cool. The Fremont/Ballard area north of downtown is a really cool part of Seattle, definitely worth checking out. If you partake, I ate several meals just getting stoned and walking around Pike Place and eating whatever looked good.
Minus $300 each calendar year Minus $100 for global entry Minus 100,000 points Minus all the other benefits Minus I've already saved hundreds in travel redemption
Yes, and it is calendar year, not cardmember year, so you will get $300 in 2016, and $300 more in 2017, so if you decide to cancel it before the next annual fee you'll actually get $600 for the $450 fee, plus all the other benefits and miles.
Anybody been to Iceland in winter? What else is there to do besides go see the northern lights? Hot springs?
I looked into it, and the big thing that steered me away was the 4-5 hours of sunlight/day. NYE is supposed to be really awesome, too.
Got super lucky it looks like. There's no global entry in Indianapolis but there happened to be an open appointment the day I'm in Dallas
Been in the UK about 18 months now; ready to come back to the States. I've done most of the "cool and different" things so now the "different and annoying" things are starting to pile up.
Scotland is amazing every time I go there. Edinburgh is gorgeous. I like the pub culture, where there's just a neighborhood restaurant/bar everyone goes to. Motorcycle riding is great here. And I love history so that's easy: so many castles and cathedrals with amazing architecture.
I'm currently in Mexico and have two other trips in the next 3 months but all I can think about is road tripping Croatia in may
Back to Seattle this Friday, Nashville in one month. Copenhagen-Berlin-Prague for New Years Eve, then India and Vietnam in February & March
I always like it when we do this (even though I always get envious). Here's my next few months. Philly Boston for Ortiz's last game Dallas for the Red River Rivalry World Series (hopefully somewhere fun) New York City Thailand/Cambodia Anaheim Gonna be a fun few months. If timing works out I'm going to try to go to Costa Rica for the USMNT vs. Costa Rica World Cup qualifier too
Going on a mileage run before end of 2016, near a United hub. Currently undecided, but leaning Seattle.
Planning on doing the first two weeks. I'm in a wedding the last weekend in April then gonna fly out Sunday or Monday
Cons Much harder to do full Ring Road and you need a much larger vehicle w/ 4x4 and huge tires ($$$$) Not much daylight Pros Northern Lights much more visible due to shorter days Ice Caves, which are inaccessible during the summer
I'll be over in the UK for 18 days in October. Think part will be in Manchester and Liverpool then part in "southern England." I'll have a few days and a rental car at some point, any suggestions?
Anyone looking to go through Bali check this place out. Expensive, but big. And sick, really sick https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/798483
Bath and Stonehenge are must sees, Dover Castle/Cliffs of Dover are pretty incredible, you obviously have all the tourist stuff on/near th Thames in London (Tower Bridge/Tower of London/Parliment/Buckingham Palace/the Eye) but I'd recommend parking outside and taking the train/underground in London. The roads are insane and you'll get charged extra for driving in the city. I haven't been to Cornwall yet but I've heard it's nice. There's a castle there called St Michaels Mount there that's a smaller twin of Mont St Michel in Normandy.
On the Stonehenge front, pay extra and go with a Pat Shelly tour. It's about 3 hours he gives you a history, you see 2 other "henges" and you get to walk thru stonehenge whereas a normal tour you have to stay behind a rope. We got pics of us with no one else in the area.
Gotcha. Was just trying to poke ya. Not trying to be a dick. Thought maybe you'd been before and could offer advice about the NE area for day trips and all.
I've read up a bunch on the southwest because that's where I'll be, but don't know about the other areas
Ate at Nuestra Parilla yesterday too...finally getting to start checking some things off my list. Had a damn fine choripan. Ready for it to stop being cold and rainy though
Heading to Colombia late June/early July next year for 9 or 10 days. (arrive Saturday and leave Monday the week after). Splitting time between cartagena and cali. Any suggestions for me?
