It's so fucking good. I didn't think anything would get remotely close to BG3, but boy was I wrong. I'm taking my time with it (a few chapters a week). The transitions to different scenes in the blink of an eye is one of the more impressive things I've seen in a game. Have you made it to the Spoiler: Spoiler Musical in one of Alan's chapters? I restarted before I could finish the chapter just to play it again immediately. Maybe the coolest and most unique thing I've ever seen a video game do.
I want to play the first one before diving into AW2. However, I missed the sale when it was $9 so I am waiting.
Definitely wait until you play 1. Did you ever play Control? It's in the same universe, but not at all necessary to play this (from what I've seen). It's a great game and on sale on PS store currently. $7 base and $2 for each dlc.
I played Control and the expansions on PS4/5. One of my favorite games in the past couple years. Hopefully Remedy/Rockstar put in the effort on the Max Payne remastereds.
Oh same I be pausing the game for five mins at a time to catch a break but I’m committed to the spooky vibe
I forgot to post that I beat this game finally. I took my sweet time and will probably try to play this yearly. Story, lighting, location design, voice acting, facial and character animations, and music are all just perfect. It blended together to create one of the more engrossing atmospheres I've ever experienced in a game. It got overshadowed by Baldur's Gate 3, understandably, but this is in no way inferior to it at all. In a special year for video games, there's nothing even remotely close to those two. If I could change anything, it would be the combat. It was fine, but I think it would have been way better with quite a few more dynamic enemy encounters with big powerful enemies. They have a few intense encounters that I enjoyed, but I think I would prefer if there was some kind of ever looming danger that you have to avoid or fight at great cost. Something similar to Nemesis or Mr X in Resident Evil.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention how much I enjoyed the live action stuff and how smooth the transition between that and gameplay is. They also do this really cool thing where live action stuff gets overlayed on top of actual gameplay, which leads to some pretty trippy experiences.
