just one more good thing about my new gym still being relatively empty from 5:30-6:30am: fart with no ragrets
There's something in women's brains that make them buy shit with numbers on it. Don't believe me, take a look at the chick magazines next time you're in the checkout aisle at the grocery store. "14 Ways to achieve mind-blowing orgasms" "9 Ways to shed inches off your waist" "746 Things about you that annoy the shit out of all men" "Drop 3 dress sizes in 2 weeks" "0 Ways to please your man in bed" Of course, exactly ZE-fucking-RO of those 'tips' are either useful or practiced by the readers. It's science and the publishing geniuses exploit the hell out of it to sell magazines to brainless fucking housewives. Ya, I mad. Women do some really stupid, illogical shit. I swear if I didn't like pussy so much, I'd be gay.
my hometown gym replaced all the machines/DBs because their lease on the previous stuff ran out. I wouldn't say that the new stuff is worse, just different, which is annoying. I'm 3 or 4 months into my shoulder/chest rehab and still moving along slowly. Today I did a 5x5 on floor press with 240 which went pretty well, plenty of reps in the tank though my right shoulder still feels a bit off. I think at my best I could grind out a 5x5 with 260 or 265 so I'm getting there, my explosiveness off my chest has gone way down since I've been laying off any heavy chest work and I'm still having some trouble loading my lats properly. And my grip is also down since I haven't done any max stuff
Anybody know anything about iron sport in glenolden, PA? they offer a student discount and they supposedly have great equipment
Anyone have any recommendations for a squat program that uses both high and low bar? I've been doing both and just alternating each lower body day, which is every 3 days. Trying to avoid a linear program since I always end up compromising form and increasing rest intervals.
I hate that shit. My gym trashed a whole bunch of their old school basic benches and replaced them with Precor benches... and they suck. The only thing wrong with the old stuff was just the crappy vinyl padding coming apart.
It should be a crime. Everyone is worried about waste these days but if they'd ask/tell/let the guys who are even a little handy sand, prime, and paint the metal and spend $10 on vinyl it would look good as new and better than most of the Precor and Power Sustems junk that most gyms buy. The gym at work got rid of 1000's of pounds of Ivanko plates and dumbells and replaced them with rubber Power Systems plates with flat spots. I tried my best to buy some of the old stuff but that was out of the question.
My buddy recently opened a gym after scoring a bunch of Vandy's old (some of the 45's were never unboxed and the Texas bars still had the plastic in them). After a couple of years at the Y this is an oasis. Plus lifting plates with Vandy stamped on them adds IQ along with the gains. Or makes you really shitty at football.
Near Bristol TN. There's a weightlifting supplier in maryville that's pretty big in the southeast. They take in tons of equipment on trade ins and resell for very decent prices.
Hopped on to Day 43 of Arnold Cut Blueprint today. Chest/back/abs. Figured NBD since I just finished a somewhat high rep cut program. I was wrong. So many sets. Such volume. Felt real puny
I'm not taking my PRs for granted, because I know I'm going to stall at some point. That said: Skwats: 260lb 3x6 was a success. Got pitched forward a bit on my last rep, but overall happy Deads: 275 2x6 was a success. Weight came up fast. I think I'll be at 300+ in a few weeks.
Been in a stupid fucking rut again the past few days. These are my feels as I mentally prepare to squat for some reps today.
It was high drama. I stayed up until 3:00am Sunday morning watching the reports trickle in. Zydrunas almost got his 5th title.
What I as going to say: Yeah same here. I feel like I'm not really making gains anymore. Especially since my friend just started working out six months ago and I work out with him sometimes and he's nearly as strong as me already in a lot of lifts. It's just something that I do now. Like, it's just part of my schedule.
I started feeling like this last September after I passed the bar exam and started working. Didn't touch a weight again until two weeks ago. Lost a lot of strength but I feel like there is a reason to go again.
Finally getting back into the groove with my bench press. Had a tear in my labrum that kept me from pushing heavy weight. Pushed 435 today for the first time since last July. Recovery process has been painfully slow.
Ive gotten in the habit of leading with my knees rather than my hips coming out of the bottom of my squat. No wonder my knees hurt. I didn't even notice until someone watching said something. I feel really dumb.
I'm having a really tough time increasing my shoulder strength. They are disproportionally falling behind the rest of my body...sucks.
Quite common. The que for me is to remember to drive your hips upward (Rippetoe talks about imagining a chain bolted to the ceiling that hangs straight down and attaches to your back-side waist and pulls you straight up). Keep your back in a stable angle and drive the hips....back will follow automatically and your knees will stay in place. Or, have someone put the ole 2x4 in a vertical position in front of your knees.
I reread his squat article on t-nation since it had been a while. I didn't realize how many bad habits I'd slipped into until I watched my squat videos and was like "oh, no wonder you have pain." Live and learn.
I've been Planet Fitnessing it becasue it's close and convenient. Last Friday I saw the most perfect ass I've ever seen in my life on a pretty average otherwise looking middle aged woman. In my head I was trying to think if there would be any possible way to pay her a compliment without sounding creepy/odd/etc. I didn't come up with anything.
Next time she's around let your headphone jack accidentally fall out while your phone is playing this. Then give her one of these and one of these
She was with another chick, seemed younger, but her ass game was no where close. maybe I should have set the Planet Fitness alarm off and been like - pretty sure you just set the ass alarm off, girl. Hey ladies, I don't mean to interrupt you, but I just wanted to tell you that all this working out you are doing...it's working. Have a good workout, and let me know if you need a spotter. The subtle approach....hip thrusts on the smith machine next to them The less subtle approach....slowly masturbate while peeking at her through smith machine next to them
Thanks. Still not where I was a year ago but I'm finally pain free as well, so it feels good. I've kept out of this thread since I got hurt bc it was too depressing to see everyone making gains while I was laboring.
Its the only time in life being under 6 feet has benefited me. You get used to the weight though, I personally think its a mental thing.
