Talking with DJ-Essen in the Morning Crew got me thinking about this, here is my list: 1. Peter Schmeichel 2. Jose Luis Chilavert 3. Gianluigi Buffon 4. Iker Casillas 5. Oliver Kahn
I immediately knew your list would include Campos, but no Sanchez?? Also, you have to have Chilavert on your list and props on Prudhomme he was a beast.
If you honestly believe that those players (not named Zenga) you listed are better than Buffon, Casillas, Kahn, Schmeichel, Chilavert, Prudhomme then that explains your Inter fanhood, just dont know any better.
In 2005, Chilavert was sentenced to six months in prison in France for the use of false documents about the compensation for the end of his contract with Racing Club de Strasbourg.[3] Chilavert was a commentator for American television network Univision during the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He is expected to commentate on future tournaments for them. Recently, he has become involved investing in renewable energy using seaweed. In a recent interview by the Argentine media, Chilavert said that he has invited European firms to come to Paraguay and invest in what he calls a very ambitious and interesting project. He keeps a close watch on Paraguayan Football Federation advising them in anything they have to do to take Paraguay back to the World Cup Finals.
About to rule Paraguay, pretty sure he could if he wanted to. For those of you that dont kown who he is or havent seen his greatness, please google and youtube him you wont be dissapointed. He has scored more goals than Nani and Balotelli combined . But what most people forget is how good of a keeper he was even without all the goals and crazy antics. Dude was a trip though, always talking shit on the media, to the refs, socring from Free Kicks, truly one of the GOATs
Agree with this, except for the fact that Buffon is/was better. I'd say that Buffon is the best keeper that I've seen in my lifetime. If he manages to win another World Cup (hope he sticks around for 2014, because he has no shot in South Africa) or a EURO, then I think he'd cement his position as the greatest keeper of all time. The ONE thing keeping me from calling him the greatest right now is the fact that he is atrocious with PKs. I think the summer of 2006 alone makes him the best keeper of the decade, but people will always argue that Kahn was better... All I remember of Kahn is him sitting on the bench as Italy was destroying Germany and the 25 times that Milan destroyed Bayern this decade, so I don't know what the big deal is. Anyone making fun of Dida wasn't around when he was in his prime. On his day, he was better than Buffon, Kahn, Cech, or anyone else that has been mentioned in this thread. Buffon vs. Dida battles in Serie A and at Old Trafford are the stuff of legend in Italy.
I think Buffon is number 1. I agree with the Dida post. When he was in his prime there was no one better. I watch Italy today and I am in With DiRossi, Chillni and Rossi. This team is playing much better. I still think Italy has the best back line and keeper in the world. I am starting to change my mind on them repeating. Also 10-1 are the odds I am getting. I just put 300 on them. There are some very good lines out there for the betters of the world. Germany, Ivory Coast Italy all are getting Great odds.
I have no doubt that Italy could field the best team in Europe if Lippi called up the right players. Unfortunately, I just don't see it happening.
sanchez is honestly overrated.....campos was UNAM leading scorer and best goalkeeper plus he was 5'7 and could dunk! Chilavert was the man, he was my debate between him and Prudhomme
Honestly I think this team will be fine. Yes Cassano would be great but they can win without him. Rossi is improving every game he plays. Kid is a beast. As long as the older players (cannavaro, pirlo) can play at a high level we should be good. My opinion has changed
Yeah I agree. But I have never seen a returning champion get so little respect. The core of this team has seen all there is to see and can lead some of the younger players. They have the best keeper in the world IMO and also the best back line. I think they could struggle against a Brazil that just attacks all game long but the more I watch this team the better feeling I get about them. They are improving ever game.
Best strike ever scored against Friedel, yet we still whooped some Figo ass Brilliant Goals - Jeff Agoos
