Apparently Totti is considering coming out of international football retirement and might suit up for Italy at the 2010 World Cup. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=684938&sec=worldcup2010&cc=5901
how to feel about that. It would nice to see him play in the WC but he gets hurt so often he would probably miss the start of the club season. He is still awesome and if I was Lippi I would probably start him and the :aero: Cassano.
Totti's still very good. But yea, their squad is not one of the more youthful squads. I think that's why they'll struggle at the WC.
There is a strong push to get more younger players into the squad but I don't see it happening. I think this will be the 3rd and final world cup for the core of this team. After the world cup I think you will see a completely different Italy
If Lippi isn't going to bring Cassano, then I'd be thrilled to see Totti in the squad. He's older than JHarris' jokes, but he could still do a lot for the team. Will take pressure off of Pirlo to be the only creative player, and is frankly in torrid form at the moment. Still, I have serious doubts that Italy gets anywhere near making it out of the group. I could see two draws and a loss in the group stage.
I'm trying to remember the last time Italy blew someone out in a real competition. Just hope we hire Ancelotti or Spalletti after we implode in South Africa.
