I see a lot of folks upset about YouTube TV delays during games and I want to spread the gospel of using an antenna for games. broadcast is a higher quality uncompressed digital feed and has the lowest delay possible. I use antenna any time I can. obviously this only works for cbs, nbc, fox, etc for most people in a major city a $20 flat antenna will work how to 1) go to https://www.antennaweb.org/ and type in your address. it will show you the direction and distance of your local tv towers 2) the color codes for the stations correspond to what kind of antenna you should buy if yours is yellow one this will likely work fine: https://a.co/d/hwh4Fqf if it’s green you probably want a little bit bigger/nicer one: https://a.co/d/54BJxFc hook the fucker up to your TVs antenna jack, read your manual on how to program channels, then you’re good. the flat panel ones you can Velcro or tape to the back of your TV to hide them then just sit back and enjoy your beautiful “broadcast”
I knew my Old Man Knowledge would make a comeback! Let me tell you about tin foil and a coat hanger!!
I highly recommend this if you have a lot of trees blocking your signal. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/antenn...VQHBHAR2m6QrGEAQYCSABEgJpLPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
There's also an app for your phone called antenna point that can show you where the stations are broadcasting from so you can align the antenna correctly.
I have a long range digital antenna set up in my attic that I had to fish the wires down to my tv in the den below. I moved in my house during July so had to install it and fish the wires in August and I’d highly recommend not doing anything in your unfinished attic in August.
Nah the guy I rode around with that I helped would always be up there with me, but yeah it was 130-140 degrees sometimes.
I have an antenna on my chimney. Fucking rules when my dad calls me to bitch about a football game and I can spoil everything and he hangs up. Great way to get him off the phone without being a dick. Well not directly being a dick.
I always chuckle at the people who are floored that I use an antenna for tailgating. We have a Dish too but for local games I flip to OTA and people marvel over it.
yeah we have one set up on the tailgate bus and then a little antenna jack on the side to hook up a tv
I heard a rumor that GoodForAnother FIL has a thread on his train message board about how his SIL is obsessed with antennas
I have a whole house antenna in my garage attic and no idea how to use it. Also, when I typed in my zip the good channels are red NexGen. Is that good?
Been using an antenna for local station sports viewing for about 5 years now. I’m way ahead of most people in my group texts when we are watching games and agree about better quality. It also cracks me up how many channels are out there dedicated to reruns of 70’s TV shows Works great most of the time but sometimes on Fox picture is distorted. After reading the site GoodForAnother posted in the OP I may need to upgrade my antenna bc it says my local Fox channel is next-gen enabled. Currently I just have one of those flat ones posted up in my attic
Tho on YouTubeTV you can pause and rewind on wacky plays or things you miss when you have to leave to take a crunch and frankly that outweighs any slight picture upgrade from an antenna.
Took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to find/program the channels on my Samsung but am now living the digital antenna life
