bucky cut me for the small crime of not being able to play defense glad he landed on his feet despite that early misstep
Any opportunity I have to visit Edgewood Oteys I am taking. Also I "took the kids" to get ice cream which is one of my favorite dad plays.
Anyone have a good recommendation on who to use for lawn health? Want to make sure my lawn is primed for all of the fraternity rush day parties I'll be throwing this spring and summer. Mighty Green? Fairway Lawns? double RL What have you got for me?
I have used Fairway for years. They are solid and will have your yard looking great after a few months. We used APS for a while and they kinda sucked at lawncare. Solid for pest control but would recommend going to someone like Fairway who only does lawns.
This chef is married to a Brookie whom he met while she was living in Australia. On behalf of the Spartan contingent you are all welcome.
Who is that? Also, I hope this business works out. Not so much for the chefs or for Birmingham's culinary scene but for the Raymond Harbert guy the article says they're partnered with. Restaurants can be tough and I'd hate to see some poor guy lose the shirt off his back if this doesn't work out.
Lol. Raymond actually backed Automatic up with his personal finances during covid. He’s not a bad dude
When I bought my house, the former owner was using them for lawn chemicals and stuff. I kept it going for a year then cancelled because I wasn't sure it was doing anything that was worth the cost. The following year my yard looked like shit, so I resumed the service but I still question whether it's worth the cost. Plus Wayne's has an uncanny knack for treating my lawn either 24 hours before the yard guys come to mow it or when I'm out of town, and when they do so they leave a pamphlet saying don't mow for 48 hours and make sure to heavily water within 48 hours.
NGL we don't eat out a lot and I HATE HATE HATE nice takeout...but Automatic was clutch during 2020. I hope the new venture is as solid as Automatic.
At my old house, the former owner never canceled his lawn treater. I got my yard treated quarterly for 3 years and never got a bill. I don’t know who the company was, but they did a great job. Highly recommend and can’t beat the price.
My customers ask this a lot. Wayne's is very hated by every customer that uses them for the most part. Haven't used them personally, but never hear anything good about them. Hunter Turf Care does a customer's house and they keep his lawn looking pristine. Don't know anyone there either. Fairway definitely does a good job. We don't do do maintenance or care, so I can't help too much, but I try to keep up with who does our customer's yards that look really good.
Speaking of, with the freeze coming tonight don’t forget to put salt out on your emerging grass to keep it warm.
My hydrangeas are just sprouting green leaves and look susceptible. Probably going to try and cover them with something. I don’t need to worry about the half pallet of sod I just laid, right? It’s so nice out now. Hard to imagine it being that hard of a freeze.
Sod will be fine. I’m covering my hydrangeas as well. You can get burlap at most home improvement stores if you need something. Bed sheets will be ok too if you have extras
We talking Oak Leaf or Endless Summer hydrangeas? Debating if I should cover my Oak Leafs, their leaves have pretty much blossomed.
The oak leafs are probably OK. The endless summers need to be covered if they have leaves out. Oak leaf hydrangeas are more cold hardy, but if it's not too much trouble, I'd cover them. Regardless, they'll just be a few weeks later blooming if you don't cover them.
Since it’s early growth that hasn’t hardened off at all I’d cover. They are a little tougher than the Asian hydrangeas but bc it’s brand new growth I think I’d cover
Plastic can damage them. Sheets or burlap allows moisture to escape, but the plastic does not. As moisture builds up, the plastic can freeze to the leaves and damage them. It may be fine, but I've seen them get burned and damaged a good bit.
i will not be doing shit to my bushes but sending them lots of good vibes during this little cold stretch
I am going to (H)Otey’s for an engagement celebration tonight. Looking forward to the people watching
Had an appointment at the Bankhead office for 8:30 AM. Parked at about 8:09, did the thing, and was back in my car by 8:22. Appointment was clutch and allowed me to skip the other ~7 folks waiting.
Wayne's must have been reading this thread because they treated my lawn this morning. Told me to water the grass within 2-3 days of treatment and not to mow before then. Showed up bright and early--early enough to beat the guys who will be there to mow the lawn later this afternoon.
