I’m open to ideas. All I have right now is the dates (mon-wed) I’ll be there. Haven’t been out before but always wanted to go.

if you plan to spend most of your days at RMNP (which will be awesome), I'd recommend staying near Estes Park. Unsure about hotels. Most people I know get a cabin thru VRBO / Airbnb

Counterpoint: Estes Park in the summer is the worst place on earth.

We looked at Stanley Hotel (hotel from the shining) but ended up going with Trailborn Rocky Mountains Outpost

Endless sea of kids, families, traffic, tourist trap shops. Myrtle Beach in the mountains, maybe? Lot of old people, too. If he's traveling with kids, it may be what he needs and it's a beautiful area.

If he's traveling with a spouse/partner, Boulder has so much more to offer late in the day. Yes, you have to drive to RMNP each day, but you don't have to drive home after having fun in Boulder bars/restaurants after a day in RMNP.

it won't be that bad :twocents:

especially when you go, if you get up early, and if you plan to get deep into the park.

Where are camping there? I'm more a day hiker there, but we're camping there this summer. A crash night in Estes would be fine if you're not looking for anyplace interesting to go, at least compared to what someplace like Boulder has to offer.

On your way up there for the pre-hike night, Lyons has some decent spots to eat that won't be nearly as tourist packed, like Mojo Taqueria. It's on the highway to Estes.

Get in tomorrow and staying downtown and probably going to the Isbell concert at Mission Ballroom. Friday I’m open during the day so could use recs and same with Saturday. Maybe going out to Englwood to meet up with a friend.

I’m solo at this point so could use recs for breweries and bars.

    thanks,
    Wayne

Mission Ballroom is awesome. One of my favorite venues in the country. Plenty of bar/brewery options close to Mission in Rino.

During the day, I'd head down to South Broadway and just hit up whatever looks good, I really like Historian's, they've got a great beer selection and good bar food.

Mission ballroom is great. That and bluebird are my two favorite venues in Denver.

Ya, go hang out in lohi, colfax or south Broadway. Maybe walk Washington park. Lots of good bars, breweries and restaurants to go around.

My unpopular Denver take is that Mission is the best place to see music in Colorado.

Red Rocks is incredible and something everyone should experience but if I just want to see a band, I'd rather see them at Mission. It's much easier to get to and get out of, it's far more intimate, never a line for a drink and plenty of clean bathrooms.

Breweries, sports bars, dive bars. I don’t really discriminate. Just seeing what people who live here would tell their friends or family to go to and get a taste of Denver.

Not sure I can just pick one bar. Plenty of dives to choose from.

like I said, I like the port side breakfast sandwich. Sam’s no 3 in the early morning could be a solid diner breakfast for you. I also recommend onefold. And Leven deli.

Yacht club is a great bar. So is Thin Man. Pairadice. And horseshoe lounge.

plenty of dives, but I especially like ps lounge, Pete’s satire, wyman’s, don’s, embassy tavern, and candlelight.

i trust you can research breweries. You really can’t go wrong. I’ve got good Italian, Mexican and and Asian fusion recs for dinner. But might just be well served looking at Eater and doing some research. Or reaching out about a particular cuisine.

I’ve always wanted to do the western art museum. And I like the Kirkland museum. Might be fun with an edible. But I’m not sure id spend my time there Given your short trip.

also there is a free and let wrestling show starting at 9 at Bierstadt on Friday. One time I stumbled in there and had a blast.

    enjoy

Maybe you can explain the draw of Thin Man to me, I've been there a couple times and I just don't get it.

I love the neighborhood but don't get why Thin Man is so universally beloved

I don’t live in Denver proper so my rec game is weak. Uncle is good for some ramen. I mentioned Arthur’s hoagies previously, they post up at breweries but you gotta check their insta. El Taco de Mexico or D’Corazon are classic Mexican spots. Put green chile on everything. There’s also a shit ton of Indian/Nepalese food in the metro and it’s usually very good

Avanti Food & Beverage is a cool spot right by Coors Field. Also a couple other fun restaurants in that area. Food is a solid B/B+ but it’s got a really good vibe.

going to have to disagree about avanti and the ballpark district unless he is traveling with a group or something. But to each their own. I just view that shit like Broadway in Nashville at this point.

If you can make it up for a day in Boulder (difficult if you don’t have a car) there’s lots of good spots with rooftop views of the Flatirons, like Corrida, Avanti, etc. or just get a beer at Mountain Sun right below the flatirons. The best overall view of the front range might be at Acreage by Stem Ciders, they have a pretty good restaurant as well

According to Nerd Wallet, the COL in Denver is a bit higher (9%) than Nashville/Murfreesboro. I would bet that we are more than 9% happier out there.
