If you're a big West Wing fan, Josh Malina (who played Will Bailey), is doing a podcast called West Wing Weekly, where they're literally going through every episode one-by-one and discussing what went on and talking about the show. Have already had Dule Hill, Janel Moloney (Donna) and one of the writers on as guests. Pretty cool if you're a West Wing/Sorkin person.
So apparently they're going to make a tv series based on "Lore" with the producers of The Walking Dead. Good for him.
Another great relatively new podcast (They only have 9 episodes) is Beautiful Stories with Anonymous people. It's hosted by comedian Chris Gethard and he just talks to a random person for an hour, the only rule being he can't hang up. It creates for some fascinating, unexpected and deep stories.
I also really like 99% Invisible. All about design, architecture and activity. Really like the episode Used To Be A Pizza Hut...about businesses that were clearly a previous Pizza Hut restaurant
Anyone listen to the Someone Knows Something podcast? Reddit folks seem to really like it, but I haven't actually listened yet. http://www.cbc.ca/radio/sks Reddit on it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Unresolved...the_cbc_has_a_new_unsolved_mysteries_podcast/ https://www.reddit.com/r/serialpodc...one_knows_something_a_new_podcast_similar_to/
Listening to the first CBB live show on the Howl app...pretty fucking great so far. http://howl.fm/audio/playlists/4680/comedy-bang-bang-2016-tour
The entire concept is so awesome. You can't read a book or watch tv while you're mowing the grass or driving. I swear I get a million things done while listening to podcasts, and I'm usually actively pursuing additional projects just so I can complete a podcast.
Yes you can. I've been doing it for effing years. Before I got into podcasts, I was a staunch audiobook person, and that's simply because of all the efficiencies gained by listening versus reading. I've been through triple digit books this way. Similar to a great podcast, a great book "that you can't put down" has the same effect in audio format. They will make me go to the gym, clean my house, go for a run, etc. all so I can get further along.
Previous guest leaves a question for the new guest to answer. Brief interview followed by a group of improv comedians performing a story based on the interview.
Listening to the season finale of "This Is Actually Happening". This one is pretty disturbing y'all. *New season will start in two months.
I don't want to. Sidenote... I just started Snap Judgement. I think I like it, but I don't really know what to make of it. I love the way they tell stories, but the stories seem kind of boring.
I've been listening to The Eastern Border. Interesting perspective from a Latvian on the space race, Afghanistan, Perestroyka and the Cold War.
I don't think I've seen any recommendations for The Dollop but I want to encourage you to give it a listen. Two comedians, Dave Anthony and Gareth Reynolds explore the more interesting people and events in U.S. history. Dave does the research and reads it to Gareth, who has non idea what the topic or story is going to be about. It's funny and educational, a bit. Some of my favorite episodes: Competitive Endurance Tickling Hugh Glass The Rube Ten Cent Beer Night The Willie Dee The Hanford Site The Fenian Raids Prince Alfred Visits Australia The Iraq War The Fine Cotton Scandal Bayou of Pigs Philadelphia Mayor Frank Rizzo They're all good, some are just better than others.
I tried some of the funny ones you guys like, but for some reason I can no longer listen to podcasts that sound like morning radio shows. When I hear people laugh in studio it always annoys me for some reason. To me, it's always too belabored to believe (I don't know anyone that laughs audibly like that), and it's also taught in radio school to fake laugh when they are attempting humor. Ever since learning that/realizing it, the laughs sound like nails on a chalkboard.
They're ok. I skip most of the offseason stuff, but their week-to-week preview and recap shows are good listens.
Such an awesome live experience, Scott was clearly burnt out from the tour but Pamela from Big Bear really helped him get into the show.
Adam Carolla is going to be on Philosphize This next week to talk about capitalism, presumably in response to Stephen doing marxism, pros and cons recently
this week's Sword & Scale is his most disturbing episode yet imo, remind me to never have a daughter BTH Gin Buckets
More Perfect is new podcast from one of the guys that does Radiolab. It's for nerding out on the Supreme Court/Constitutional Law. Super well done.
