Moving back to the uws on 12/1. Are you in a building or brownstone? I was in a brownstone on 73 and CPW before but looking more for a building this time. Any recos would be appreciated
West. We both work in the 40s on 5th & 6th. I live in Hoboken (so I can take PATH from 33rd or bus from PA) and she takes the train from Penn Station back home, so somewhere in the 30s or 40s reasonably close to our offices or Penn Station is ideal.
Saw DJ Khaled step out of a car two feet in front of me today. I'm not really a fan or anything but it was fun regardless.
Will be in NYC from Saturday morning to Monday night with a friend and my father. Any must-dos, or places to eat or drink to recommend? Big into wine, if that helps narrow it down.
Few wine bars/restaurants you could check out: Wildair Terroir Aldo Sohm (don't miss this place) Fifty Paces Mailiano The Four Horsemen (Brooklyn) Del Posto
I'm from Montreal. Bagels, along with Smoked meat and poutine is what we do best. Will likely stop for some Pretzels tho.
Wildair looks awesome. Had no idea there were Etienne and Julien Courtois wines in NYC. Small vineyard in bumfuck France where I had my internship a few years ago. Curious about the prices but I hadn't seen such a gorgeous wine list in a while (Bain, L'Anglore, Bornard, Dufaitre, Serres ), will definitely stop by. Thanks!
They do look delicious. I was planning on wandering around in East Village, so might as well. As for tailgates, I've never been...how does that work, where should we go? We're going to the Giants game on Sunday.
Black Seed Bagels has Montreal style bagels. If I came to NYC and could only have one bagel it would be at Russ and Daughters every time, though. Il Posto Accanto has good Italian food and a good wine list.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/05/02/montreal-bagels_n_5247880.html Basically, Montreal bagels are smaller, denser and sweeter while NYC bagels are bigger, doughier. Montreal bagels are boiled in honeyed water, while NYC bagels are boiled in regular water.
bagels in general suck but if I have to eat one, it's Black Seed (apparently Montreal style is my thing)
I had an everything croissant once which was fire This restaurant in Lil Italy called Bacchanal had a great salmon/cream cheese/egg/etc sandwich for brunch but then it closed:/ But yeah not super into bagels either. If I'm eating something bad at breakfast it's most likely doughnut plant or some Chinese bakery bun and a tea
yes and this is what confirmed that i'm not a bagel person you'd dig the place on Smith called Bien Cuit coffee is iffy but when they say they're the best bakery I think I believe it. croissant stuff is better than any I had in France
Good place too. Brownstone, parlor level, recently renovated, decent space for me and the lady...no broker fee
What a coincidence...my buddy is the somm/drink director there and so we went there Friday. It was great. That cavatelli was almost too good and the wine mulled plum marscapone was one of the best desserts I've ever had and I'm not much of a sweets person.
