gonna rewatch here in a little bit but MiB basically said he thinks if you get to the middle of the maze you can die, as a guest. Like the host-guest rules don't apply there. No clue how that equates to Bernard's comment to the middle of the maze being "Freedom" for dolorasaurus.

Rewatching now. That lunch scene is really just incredible.

Possibly minor but relevant side note - Ford moves his finger to unfreeze all the hosts after fucking with Cullen... I have no idea if that matters or not.

Then while he says Bernard has a sensitive disposition, he looks in the direction of the android waiter who resumes movement. Because also, Bernard is an android

Someone is gonna get got soon.

Dolores grabbing that guy back when he was going to escort her back. She was about to fuck him up probably.

Or in the preview to next week, MiB pulls the knife, Teddy immediately grabs it and slams it down on the table protecting Ford.

She seems to be putting things together much better than Dolores despite Bernard and Dolores' little talks and Maeve's actions seem to be going unnoticed (and also covered up by those lab idiots). It appears to be a less obvious pick but if you really look at it I think it makes the most sense.

dolores seems to be taking an "oh golly, what's going on" approach to everything that's happening while maeve's is more like "nah, nah, fuck this". i'd be shocked if maeve sees another delos employee in one of those suits and doesn't kill it.

it's not that there are host-guest "rules". the hosts have certain limits on capabilities in westworld (ie harming a human). once you get to the maze, the host can gain it's freedom. meaning it would have the capability there to kill a human.

    that's how i understood it.

ok I'm back on my original theory for the Bernard talks BamaNug

at least 2 different times Bernard has been talking to Dolores in the one-on-one sessions he starts off by asking her does she know where she is, "I'm in a dream." Most recently was the very first talk to open up episode 4. And every single time she comes out of one of the talks it shows her waking up with some new realization look on her face

I can see where you're coming from, but I just can't buy-in knowing the logistics of how the park works--mainly getting the hosts in/out wouldn't work.

I think it was Odin or someone that mentioned the talks with Dolores seem more ominous/separate from the main storyline, so it could be in a dream-like state and I'm reading to much into it/wanting the show to be completely "physically" real in transporting/moving the hosts.

Here's a good write-up they do every week that I've been following, addresses some of these issues:
    http://io9.gizmodo.com/we-were-all-...m_medium=recirculation&utm_campaign=tuesdayAM

Agree with this from that article:
Also, I'm not necessarily off the train of MIB=Host that escaped 30 years ago (although I admit it's a longshot):
And I'm fully on board with Ford's new narrative being the maze/hosts becoming sentient. "Been working on it for a very long time...;" his comments to Bernard when he mentions he must have simply made a mistake with the latest update which causes hosts to remember; how his narrative is "causing glitches and problems" with every other narrative.

Was spewing some crazy talk with a buddy, kind of rambling and blurted out "what if Arnold actually killed Ford in the park and after the incident assumed his identity, hired all new people and is currently at a point where he can finally implement his final stage?"

I wonder how many carry overs from the opening to present day work at the park.

Watched last night: The shootout with Logan was an obvious nod to the original. I love how they have bandits popping out like a 1995 arcade shooter.

What happened to Sizemore? There have been narrative remarks that he hasn't been involved with.

This episode was great, but not very subtle.

Comments off the top of my head:

    A) They make it painfully obvious that they want us to believe Bernard is AI. He looks exactly like Arnold. I think it's pretty obvious Hopkins made him in his likeness.
    B) Hopkins is a bad guy
    C) What happened to the guest with Teddy?
    D) William and Logan -- the theory that they were on different timelines as everyone else has been debunked. This was obvious when Delores was with William and holding a gun that she is only recently been allowed to use. (Unless I'm missing something)
    E) Ed Harris is NOT or was NOT AI. They cleared up that theory with the other guest making a remark.
    F) Random, but if you're in this world killing androids that are so very humanlike, you think it would make real murder of guests much easier within the park. Especially with the overall violent theme.
    G) What's Hopkins building? Are we going to go ahead and get Medieval and Roman world? (Jk)
    H) Hector and Mave at the end -- great scene. Is he now officially "enlightened" if you will?

Edit: I also think I may need to revisit the Hopkins/Little kid scene, because it may have clues for topic G in the spoiled part of this post.

Hmmmm what about Ford being a super advanced robot or human/robot hybrid. Perhaps made by Arnold to be sentient and later killed Arnold. Could explain his mind control over all the robots.

I don't think so, because they were partners. They show the technology of robots they were working with in the beginning, and if Ford was a robot he'd have stuck out back then. Unless Arnold always had the technology to create the super realistic android and had never told anyone. Not just AI, but actual physical tech.

Gin Buckets the chick that was with Teddy when they were trying to confront Wyatt bolted back to town when the guys in masks started surrounding them. IMO they knew she was a guest so they let her go willingly and just raped Teddy

also for Hopkins building... who knows. the previews both earlier this season and recently have shown a giant "graveyard" and then some other times a church or multiple churches. just gonna wait and see for that one and hope whatever it is ends up being tight

some fun stuff in the reddit link but a lot of it is taking one still from an episode and relating it to mythology or history. pretty cool

In ancient Roman religion and myth, Janus (/ˈdʒeɪnəs/; Latin: Ianus, pronounced [ˈjaː.nus]) is the god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, doorways,[1] passages, and endings. He is usually depicted as having two faces, since he looks to the future and to the past. It is conventionally thought that the month of January is named for Janus (Ianuarius),[2] but according to ancient Roman farmers' almanacs Juno was the tutelary deity of the month.[3]

They look a lot alike. Another thing suggesting Arnold is AI. Bernard also has the similarities Ford alludes to about allowing the hosts to feel real emotions and pushing the envelope of what a host can and can't do. This is also nailed home with Bernard suggesting Dolores try "the maze" which is associated with Arnold's character.

Other things off top of my head:

    A) Ford knowing he's banging the Corp exec. Ford says "we know everything about our guests" and then segues directly into Bernard talk, and says "he's a sensitive one" or something like that. He programmed Bernard in a way that he knew would seduce her imo.
    B) Opening conversation as mentioned above. We know Arnold is dead, and the maze is Arnold's thing it seems.
    C) Not this ep, but the whole thing with Bernard's kid just seems like a backstory and trigger Ford uses to control him.

    Unrelated to Bernard thoughts:

I wonder if there's anything to Logan saying "You hate me now, but you'll grow to love me"
The little girl talking to Delores does not seem like something Ford would plant.

I can't think of anything else at the moment.

BamaNug one theory on the Bernard/Dolores talks that I came across. it's out there

Does anyone else think that Bernard's interviews with Dolores might not actually be real? In this episode she wakes up remembering one, as though it was a dream. We know that she wasn't actually taken from her spot because William is there right when she wakes up from it. Further, the staff say she's off loop but they don't know who she's with or where exactly.

Considering the idea of the Bicameral mind, and the fact that Bernard's clothing is different in these interviews and every scene where he interacts with other people, it seems evident to me that they're not really happening, or she's basing them on an early series of interviews at the very least. This is her way of easing her cognitive dissonance, which also ties into the episode title.

Anyone think Delores may have been a real person at some point? I mean with her looking at her own grave and all. Although the graph posted a couple pages back could debunk that theory.

But there is a theory I've heard about, but not read up on, that all the hosts are based off real people. Arnold could be a host he created himself before dying that essentially acts as an AI God of AIs. The first part of that seems far fetched at least, but the 2nd part may have something to do with Ford building a church in his new narrative.

No need to put discussion about an aired episode in spoilers. We saw Ford go out to the place with the steeple and talk to the little boy host about a town with a white church. We can only see the black steeple though. Ford takes Bernard out there later in the episode to explain the guests "latest obsession" and also when explaining Teddy's new background story to Teddy Ford says it's "rooted in truth." Dolores seems to have flashbacks in episode 4 to a time when she and Lawrence's daughter were in the town with the white church. I think even the scenes from episode 3 when Ford was telling Bernard about Arnold and they showed the early days of the park where they were testing the hosts took place in the town with the white church. I don't think Ford is really building anything. I think he's digging up a portion of the park that had been buried possibly after the critical failure 30+ years ago and Wyatt's story could be something of a retelling of that event.

I guess what I'll say is though it seems the maze is something relating to Arnold/AI consciousness/Turing test, there's nothing definitive saying that the maze is connected to Arnold. Even if it is, I'm not sure how Bernard pointing Dolores towards the maze confirms anything about him possibly being AI. Why would MiB care about it then, is my question? It's clear he's a real person. Been noted as a guest by security and been recognized as someone from the outside world. If MiB was an android who escaped or something, then he would have already needed to complete the maze to become "truly free" or w/e it is they say. So why would he go back looking for it?

Just doesn't hold water for me.

If he is indeed a host, he's clearly not built the same way as the park attractions. I also think that only Ford knows he's actually AI. Hopkins can obviously control hosts in a way no one else can, so erasing Bernard or reinstancing him could be as easy as a touch or certain command.
