I don't think they'd be capable of making changes to her that the "holy shit someone with waaay more clearance and skill has already made changes to her coding" would allow.

I think you're right, there needs to be a scene where these 2 dip shits try to shut her down and the coding prevents them or the Asian dude turns on the white guy because he's a host too (just based on the face pic and some of the convos with Maeve).

Oh and it looks like it's a real possibility the photo of Ford with his dad had the 3rd person some people have mentioned that Bernard isn't programmed to see.

We don't really. It's probably right, but there could technically be other reasons that Bernard has been programmed not to be able to "see" Arnold.

I wouldn't say it's confirmed but it seems very likely now.

Here's when Ford showed Bernard the picture of what we assumed was Ford and Arnold in episode 3 or so...

People had already pointed out that the framing was odd and it seemed there was a 3rd person missing from the right side of the picture. When Bernard first goes to the cottage that Ford has his robot family living in and sees the man from the photo he asks him if he's Arnold and the man responds "who the hell is Arnold?" Eventually Ford appears and reveals that the man from the photo who we saw is his father. So it's likely that there was another man in the photo that we weren't seeing through Bernard's eyes and that man is Arnold and likely looks just like Bernard so he's programmed not to see him in the photo.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was Ford's little test for Bernard to see if he's gone beyond his code that he gives him every once in a while. Kinda like the images Hector was being shown early in the episode. If Bernard ever saw himself (Arnold) in the picture Ford would know it was time to start cooking a new Bernard in the basement.

Look at that long theory I posted in spoilers a page or so back, but the main piece of evidence is all the things that keep hammering home that the hosts can't see what they are programmed not to see. In this case, when Bernard sees the picture of Arnold he sees a young Ford and who we now know to be Ford's father. When he first visits the secret house and sees Ford's father he assumes that is Arnold because he is the only one in the picture that Bernard could see outside of Ford, but there is an awkward uncentered picture and there is a spot to the right. Assumption is Arnold is there, but Bernard can't see him.

pretty crazy that there's no door on the wall in the cabin in the original shot of bernard walking through and then theresa says "what about this door" while the wall isn't in the picture and then boom its there

    This is what I mean

As a matter of semiotics (look it up, it's a real field of study), you'd now have to go back and rewatch the whole season and note which character's perspective is driving any particular scene to know whether it is reality or just that character's perception

yea put me on the team of not knowing jack shit about what theories to believe in anymore. that bernard trip to the cabin in ep6 was purely the show fucking with us considering he's a goddamn robot that was created in that very building. who knows what else they're showing us on purpose to be misleading

Exactly. By telling us that individual host perceptions can change what we see, as viewers, it means that any host-focused scene could be entirely fake.

Like entire conversations could be imagined, programmed, etc. entire scenes with sets and visual elements could be fake.

And didnt ford show Bernard the photo saying "here's a picture of arnold"?

If so then by procees of elimination we know that bernard = arnold (in appearance).

This might be a stretch given Jeffrey Wright's complexion, but if Arnold is in a photo with Ford's father in the middle, maybe we've got a Cain and Abel allegory

Assuming 2 timelines and that Bernard was created in the image of Arnold, I like this idea.

And those scenes we have been shown were the real Arnold.

A perfect example of that would be the first time that Bernard entered the secret house. Ford seemed to appear out of nowhere to him. The reality is that he probably came through the door that Bernard was programmed not to see.

This show will make for a very good rewatch once we have established host verus human. Even now I would love to separate scenes i know is Bernarnold and look at it through that lens.

I think Ford is the instigator behind the hosts "learning". He programmed the hosts to have persistent memories.

"The corporation" seem to be the nominal owners of Westworld, shareholders who probably want to use Westworld IP/technology for their own purposes, to manufacture robots.

But Ford still runs the show, and cannot really be forced into doing things he doesn't want to do, largely driven by his power over the systems. It wouldn't surprise me if several as-yet-unnamed members of "the board", possibly including charlotte hale, turned out to be robots built by Ford, given his bizarre certainty that the board will do whatever he wants.

I also have a sort of loose hypothesis - based on two parts.

That this particular show is intended to be the aftermath of what happened in the original "Westworld" movie/book from the 1970's. That's why they have so much lab space that is damaged, sealed off and derelict. It is why there is such a sharp difference in 'old' and 'new' systems.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westworld

In the original, there were 3 different "worlds" , Medieval World, Roman World, and West World. In that storyline there was some kind of malfunction, they tried to shut down the park, and some of the hosts get into the control complex.

In the modern version of 'westworld' they keep suggesting that there was some past catastrophe. They also seem to suggest that the park was losing money and needed to bring in outside capital (i.e. "the corporation") to keep it running -- which would be the roots of the conflict between Ford and the (new) park owners.

So the assumption is that Ford is going to build (Rebuild?) Theresa and pass her off as if nothing ever happened? Now he just has someone he controls in corporate? I would imagine this is something he's done before

Still confused by the use of "blood sacrifice." We heard it once with the new Exec Director banging Hector, and then Ford mentioned it again.

Which is a little interesting that he even tells Bernard that since under our theories Ford would know that Bernard can't see Arnold, so what's even the point of handing him the photo?

probably. In one of the earlier episodes, bernard asks if he can record some of her facial expressions for research. I kind of assumed that the skeleton you see being built in the basement is supposed to be Theresa's replacement.

to me what it suggests is that Ford can use the hosts to spy on other people and/or gain information.

when Charlotte refers to the "blood sacrifice", Hector is in the room with them. Presumably Ford can use hosts like hector to listen in on what's being said about him.

I initially took 'blood sacrifice' to mean that they would allow someone to be harmed by the hosts to show how dangerous Ford's new update was.

Also, I didn't quite fully understand the 'demonstration' when Clementine was getting beat up, and then just turned on the guy. I get that it was used as an example to show Ford's new narrative was dangerous, but was a little in the dark about who was doing what and the specifics of that scene. Ford looked genuinely surprised, too

He may have been surprised that they were trying to pull that one over on him. Like BernardBot said... it was obviously staged and there were plenty of giveaways to the point that he was almost embarrassed for Theresa and could only imagine what how little Ford thought of it.

Side note, re-watching the final scene now and when we see the other drawings of the hosts they show the names in the bottom right corner. "Robert" and "Dolores." When Theresa shows Bernard his they make sure that the name in the bottom right corner isn't visible to us. Another piece of evidence for the Bernarnold theory.

Theresa (and maybe the board) had some rogue programmers who had re-programmed Clementine to be aggressive like that, and then tried to claim it was part of the new update in an effort to frame Ford as dangerous. They claimed Ford's update is what made her aggressive towards "guests (the host that was programmed to be a guest)" but, in reality, they had rewritten her themselves.

Bernard saw right through it and confronted Theresa about it right before they got in the elevator to go to the secret cabin. He said something like "If your programmers were any good, they'd be working for me" and "If I saw right through that, I can't imagine what Ford thought."

Here's the article that was posted on the subreddit about it for others... http://www.ew.com/article/2016/11/14/westworld-season-2

I was honestly a little concerned since we were so late into the season and it still hadn't been renewed. With how expensive the show is and the mediocre at best live numbers I was worried it might not get the 2nd season. I don't think they were putting the viewers across all platforms number out there though and that is very good number. About half of GOT's recent numbers which are obviously ridiculous but definitely good enough to keep going.

depends on how long after arnold's death that bernardold was created. at this point we really have no idea. Ford seems like he's pretty smart so I doubt he would have put Bernardold out there in the office with people who knew the original arnold

Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm interested to see what Ford does with the board. Does he reveal that he knows their secret or what? And if Felix's face is behind Ford's desk, I assume Ford was the one that reprogrammed Maeve to become self aware. Does Felix being a host also mean everyone that works there is a host? They all live out at the park and I don't recall any of them talking about their lives back "home". Maybe only the butchers are hosts, but maybe Ford created an entire host company that he controls.
