I'm about to buy one soon. Either from Black Widow or the Edge Fitness most likely. Both make really quality stuff. The Edge guy used to be #1 guy at EliteFTS Black Widow (middle bar): Edge (bottom bar):
Got talked into trying the hook grip on a whim last night deadlifting on a heavier set when I've only really tried it with very light weight. Definitely felt secure, but damn if my thumbs weren't hurting for a while
Yea, the cheapest monohydrate you can find. Srs. Edit: is "Beast" a brand or did you mean best? If it's a brand, I would suggest no unless it's the cheapest monohydrate you can find.
What's a better product that you would recommend? I'm not planning a long term thing; I just want to take it for a bit to get up to the next level.
So. Many. Nice. Asses. There's a healthcare conference right next to the weigh in section. Some stuffy ass Healthcare folks watching people walk around in towels from the sauna to the scale trying to make weight is hilarious
Sup fam....got lazy. Quit lifting. Back in the game doing all Oly shit. Best watch your chin on them Jerks. might lose a few teeth soon
8 months until i get a gym upgrade - some of these dental school gyms are quite nice. people were deadlifting and cleaning on our tours.
Made some progress today. Everything takes longer than I expected, but I got the platform built and built my plate storage today. One of the bumpers has to be replaced because it has a pretty big gash in it. The middle section of the storage is currently holding change plates, and it will until I ever need to buy more larger plates. Then I'll move the 25s in there together and find a different place for the change plates. It will be able to accommodate 10 45lb plates and 2 25 plates at its max capacity. Overall pretty excited with how it's turning out. I'm out of town this week and this weekend, so the rack will have to keep waiting.
Do forearm compression sleeves help or is it just a bro-science placebo effect? I've had pain in my forearm where it connects to my elbow for some time and am looking for something to relieve the pain a bit when I lift.
I used to get tendinitis in my elbow while golfing all the time and started wearing a compression sleeve for a little bit. Helped a little bit but the treatment with the best lasting effect has been stretching/massaging the muscles right around my elbow more. May not be very similar scenarios so there's a good story for you instead
I would hate to have to taste unflavored BCAA Have a blue raspberry PWO and a coconut BCAA. they mix together to make something glorious. only take BCAAs before working out at 5am though because the internet said to do so when working out in a fasted state. I can't eat at 5am
What brand BCAA do you use? I'm in the same boat working out at 5, that's why I use them. I change up the juice I mix it in though so unflavored has always worked best.
My squats and deadlifts are going great. My left elbow has AIDS so i'm trying to train around it, but I'm worrying about my bench. I'm 6 weeks out and this fucker acts up.
really need to get back into things. been to the gym like ~20 times in the past 4 months, it's been bad. Back home for now so no excuses Also, forgot how much goddamn jailbait there is at my local Y. I think it's all college girls but still makes me feel like a
On the bright side my BB shoulder press is somehow as strong as ever, hit 135x10 paused on my last set of the day which I think ties an all-time PR. Nice to know I didn't lose all my gains
Gym rebuilding is finally more or less complete from my last check in. My buddy who owns the place has decided to cap membership at 50 or so, and interviewed each member to see if they were a morning, lunch, evening, or late night lifter. There's rarely more than 8 people in there at any time and it's around 3000 sq ft. We've got around 200 rubber coated Troy 45 plates, I've been muling HiTemp plates up 8 at a time every time i visit home, enough bars to set up super sets for everything before you start and you don't have to unload until you're ready to go home, and a fair amount of machines. I bought a concept2 rower for the house so our 1980's cardio room doesn't bother me much. The only thing that's lacking is our dumbells stop at 100 and they're the basic hex head style. We got a second set of Yorks that are fairly pristine but my buddy is keeping those in the office until we completely cover the floor in horse stall mats. These dumbells are metal and wouldn't take kindly to concrete floors. Overall it's a dream situation. I DL'd 405 tonight and it was cool to have a few guys yelling encouragement without the Y kicking us out. I suppose most guys here would be annoyed by the culture of this gym--it's fairly bodybuilding centered with guys mirin' themselves way too much in the mirror. Not my style but they don't mind me making fun of them either. Anyway, hope everyone here reaches their 2017 fitness goals. I should probably weite some down...
I use orange flavored Amino Energy. The stuff tastes just like orange Gatorade when mixed with water.
True nutrition makes those but the supposedly taste like shit and you end up just having to add your own flavor.
That's what I'm using right now. They don't mix very well is the only issue. I mix it with sugar free juice, so I may give them a shot. Thanks.
Paul Carter swears by them and he can probably get whatever he wants for free. I stopped with bcaa's and preworkouts because the added flavors all give me a headache. I keep meaning to try true nutrition stuff but I've just accepted the no supplement life for now. Coffee is my preworkout and I have whey available post if I really think I need it. But with all sincerity my bf% is such that supplement timing is that important. I think sub 15-20% is the breakpoint for most men on needing extra help. I'm > so I'm not the best source on whether or not it can make a huge difference.
These are from July, it's come a long way since then. I'm 0.01% of the reason why this gym exists, but it's cool to think it's was a flooded basement this time last year. Don't mind the anti-crossfit graffiti, it's just an inside joke with the artist. He's a member of the gym and tagged the whole weight room. I didn't post anything from the cardio room because it wasn't tagged up with graffiti when I had my camera down there. It's a shit hole, but it's ours. Spoiler
Pretty badass... except for that angled squat stand, haha. Where was most of the equipment purchased?
The owner of this gym is a former ifbb guy and he used all of his connections to round stuff up. He had it powder coated that neon green (not my first choice) to make it stand out. The power rack is a half rack and the squat stand is a tear down instead of a unibody. The down side of being in a basement is every piece we bring down has to be small enough to fit down a flight of stairs built in the 1930's with a switchback in the middle. All of our chest press type machine with a weight stack had to be disassembled, brought down piece by piece, then reassembled. Some of the equipment is definitely ancient but it works and most importantly it fit down those steps. Edit to add: the old man is 48 year old, 5'9" @280 lb., and walks around with an 8 pack year round still. He's a physical specimen.
I've reached the point of meet prep where I feel woefully under prepared, beat up, and like an extra weak fuck. So I think I'm right on track.
Got my physical today, rocking the grade 1 obesity BMI. Did get a compliment on my shoulders from the milf nurse though.
I've always done deficit DL's but was wondering if any of you experts know if it's better to include them as an accessory and work between 50-60% of 1 RM or do them heavier? Thanks
Just switched from a LA Fitness to 24 Hour Fitness. A pretentious minded move but nicer shit and not completely packed with homeless
