Simpsons Seinfeld King of the Hill South Park Mystery Science Theatre 3000 The Brak Show Bob's Burgers is holding up really well so far If we include our neighbors across the pond: Garth Marenghi's Darkplace League of Gentlemen Monty Python's Flying Circus
Scrubs is fine the last season was an abomination and was basically theft it's nowhere near the other shows being talked about in here, if you work in/around hospitals it gets overrated by those people
Scrubs is #2 at NBC behind Seinfeld. Your take is so hurtful and awful that I can't continue being friends with you.
Honestly, the moral if the thread, as mentioned earlier by Clown Baby, I think, is that NBC had a god damn murderers row of comedies, AND NO ONE FUCKING WATCHED
"Dr Spaceman, is it true that bread eats away at your brain?" "Well Tracy, there's actually no way of knowing because the powerful bread lobby keeps stopping my research."
The other doctor? Oh, that's my brother Randy. Tomorrow, he's going to jail for the rest of his life. Hey Randy, wanna get Taco Bell for lunch?!
current sitcoms who could get a seat at the table in a few years Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Bob's Burgers, Kimmie Schmidt
I can't think of anything analogous to having so much talent yet so little success (the metric being fucked maybe). But I do think The Office deserves credit for Parks being allowed to hang around longer than it probably should have given the ratings. Also, Tina and Lorne's standing at NBC gave 30 Rock a couple of extra years too.
Like clockwork, Brooklyn Nine-Nine's ratings have been plummeting since last season and it's on the bubble for cancellation after this season.
Yeah I'll add that, really dark but pretty funny at times Oh yeah I'll also add You're the Worst to that list, dark too but hilarious And I'm probably one of few watching it on TMB but Black-ish has been amazing for a while now
Yeah their ratings took a huge drop last year and Fox stuck with them because the it was still getting a positive reception from critics, but they haven't really picked up this year. They'll be close to having enough episodes for syndication after this season so hopefully that's enough of a draw for Fox to give them at least one more.
i need to rewatch 30 rock. The projects I lived in were named after Zachary Taylor - generally considered to be one of the worst Presidents of all time!
If you like dark comedies, League of Gentlemen is very weird and very dark. It's like Hammer horror films meet Monty Python. But I actually laugh unlike Bojack Horseman. (The saving grace being Vincent Adultman). The second season the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was an annoying calvacade of stupid 90's references to me. Way too millennial centric. The first season was funny but maybe it was saved almost solely by Jon Hamm's court room stuff at the end.
Marine biologist is still the only Seinfeld episode I've seen. Need to change that. Watched some of Community and mostly liked it. I remember there was a Batman episode that I loved. Huge fan of The Office.
I was really prepared to 1) talk shit about community and 2) whine about how the thread morphing into "hey everyone list all your favorite comedies from the last several years (+Seinfeld) ranked" was annoying - but now you have distracted me. Home Movies was amazing. Dr. Katz is crucial too.
Save it, Liz. I already booked the 911 bird. Winston here saved his owner by dialing 911 and yelling fire...but only because he didn't know the word for rape.
The Office was my favorite TV comedy until P&R hit its stride. Loved Community, but haven't bothered with any of the episodes post-cancellation. Never watched 30 Rock while it was on, but I've watched a few episodes here and there and can definitely see why people love it. I plan on plowing through the whole series eventually.
#embracedebate How about best sitcom characters of all time? Top 3 is pretty much a given: 1. George - seinfeld 2. Dennis - always sunny 3. David Puddy - seinfeld
He totally has become #1. His development (as a sociopath) over the course of the show has made him the best character now.
Mac and Charlie > Dennis Mac being gay is amazing. Charlie has been the focus of the best episodes of the series
while i love the show and i certainly agree that dennis' character has only gotten better as the years have gone by, i respectfully disagree. charlie/ mac/ frank are all funnier to me
Agreed. I first started watching the show on Netflix, stopped after two episodes. Didn't give it a second chance again until I saw a couple episodes from other seasons on FXX one afternoon. Just toughed my way through the first season and fell in love after that.
I love David Puddy but he's way too infrequent a character to be in anyone's top three. I'd go 1. Constanza 2. Michael Scott 3. Homer Simpson or possibly Gob Bluth
