Along with an inferior goalscoring record while in the Premier League, the diving is just another reason why people don't mention Luis Suarez when they discuss the best strikers on the planet like Harry Kane.
PSG players cars were vandalized when the team got back to Paris Spoiler Jamie Smith Updated at 6:36 p.m. ET A police investigation has been launched after Paris Saint-Germain players were confronted by a group of individuals at an airport following the Ligue 1 club's extraordinary Champions League defeat at Barcelona on Wednesday. "The club strongly condemns the actions and behavior of the individuals in question."
Therein lies the problem with soccer. You have 1-2 PKs a game tops. You have the technology. Why not take 90 seconds to get the call right when each goal means so much.
Good article https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/mar/09/luis-suarez-dive-barcelona-cheating-psg
Watching soccer at times is like watching old college football on ESPN Classic before replays where teams get blatantly screwed by split second decisions that would easily be made right within a minute or two. Suarez should pretty much never be awarded a penalty unless it's the most obvious call in the world.
I get that Suarez is pretty universally hated but I don't see the reason for all of the self-righteous indignation itt. Just abt every forward on every team will take a dive when they are in the box, especially ones from South America and Spain. The diving sucks but it's, sadly, part of the game. The part of that game that really annoyed me, and again, most all teams do this to an extent, was after the call was made it looked like the Barca players would hustle to the ref and lobby for a card. That shit pisses me off. And I'm even a Barca fan.
Just because players do it and refs call it doesn't mean we can't/shouldn't hate it or call players on it when they do it.
Hope all the American Barca fans who have no problem with simulation weren't upset when Besler had to miss that game because of Joel Campbell's pathetic flop.
First time I've read that getting the call right at little expense for time (that can be made up later) is bad for the game.
You've never seen people complain about replay? I feel like every single time I watch a football game people bitch about replay (which doesn't always equal getting the call right)
If it was actually done in a timely manner, fine. But running over to the monitor to see who touched a ball last before it went out of bounds always takes 3 minutes. It's stupid. Same with the NFL. Ref has to run to opposite side of field to stick his head under a hood. Have someone sprint out and give him an iPad or something. It's not the replay, it's the time it takes that's ridiculous.
Porto got a red card, no chance of advancing now. Edit: Juventus scored on a PK. 1-0 and tie is done.
That shot by Sevilla was one of the best I've ever seen. Kasper had no fucking idea what that ball was doing
man diving and flopping ruins this sport for me. I could love it, really I could the stakes are just too high for marginal calls
