This is why our company is treating it so seriously. We're actually canceling any delivery routes south of downtown Portland on that Monday (we typically go all the way down to Ashland). One of our managers called one of the Indian casinos in central Oregon (Kah-nee-ta) to see if they had any rooms and they told him a group from Japan had booked most of the rooms in the hotel in advance several years ago.
I am willing to rent out my condo to anyone in need of a place to stay in Portland on August 21 (and the nearby dates) $2000/night PM me
Meatball is willing to give up his bedroom (complete with car bed) for a couple nights in exchange for $279.00 worth of Pokemon cards and a new #Oregon Ducks football jersey
used to be a P1 way back in the early early 00's for a year or two, quit listening because Vance and Lund's show was awful. Started back up a couple years ago and got a kick out of Isaac the first time he brought up his Meatball
Is this the official Portland thread?? Can, help me out. Going in two weeks. For pleasure, where should I stay? Coffee, Bars, Restaurants, Nightlife please. Mid 30s chill crowd. For work, I need to stay near the Lloyd district. Bunch of airBnB's close in East Portland, Sullivan's Gulch and just North too. Also, pondering nightly adventures out to maybe Cannon Beach or possible a day wastes in wine country. Thoughts pls? #Oregon Ducks and lesser team #Oregon State Beavers
Portland is a small enough city where you can stay pretty much anywhere in the actual city and you're still close enough to the Lloyd District to walk/bike/get a ride there that you shouldn't be limited to airbnbs or hotels there. You should definitely plan on a day to the coast. But if you can, go on a weekday because traffic will be bad on a weekend. Also, wine country is great but you'd have a better time doing a day at Hood River IMO.
I was teasing. I didn't thinknwenhad and Oregon State fans here and I thought you were a duck I need your reviews, as I trust your taste from the Celemo happy hours
lol actually I live in Salem and don't get up to Portland enough to help as much as other posters itt. I do recommend getting breakfast once at Pine State Biscuits though https://www.pinestatebiscuits.com/
Is your work not putting you up? I would consider staying at a downtown hotel. Downtown is centralized and so you'd be relatively close to the Lloyd District (which is NE but right across the water), NW (but right across Burnside), and the fun SE neighborhoods. Hotel Lucia, The Nines, The Sentinel, the Ace Hotel (among a handful of other boutique places) are all supposedly fun and well-located. If you are dead-set on an airbnb, something in either NW/The Pearl or inner SE would be your best bet.
http://sealevelbakery.com/ I love that place in Cannon Beach for baked goods and coffee. We were there a year ago and ended up going to sea level three days in a row.
Food-wise, we have an Eater site: https://pdx.eater.com/ And while we can all list our favorites, you can do worse than just trying some of the "essential" restaurants (though some are definitely more formal than what you'll be looking for; I don't imagine you'll be eating at Le Pigeon). Don't forget that weed is legal here, too. If you're into that. And there's excellent outdoor things if you want to try and do any hiking, running, biking, anything on the water, etc.
I'm gonna be there Thursday to Monday. Was thinking of doing 2 days at Cannon Beach and 2 days in Portland.
I'd stay in an airbnb between Mississippi Ave and Williams Ave, between Freemont and Skidmore. On the same side of the water and not far from the convention center (where I assume you need to be). Miss Ave is just loaded with tons of bars/restaurants/coffee/etc. Tasty n Sons on Williams is best brunch in the city. Near East Side is good too but things are a little more spread out in that area.
Cant go wrong with Astoria or Cannon Beach, I would say that Cannon Beach is a bit more 'quaint' though
Word, thanks. If I can stay close and it is a cool area, I don't have to change places when my wife leaves and I go into business mode.
Second this. There are some great little spots in this area. If you need to stay on the East side of the river, stay here.
have not been here yet but think I've hit the vast majority of the best brunch places and tasty still dominates (I found Screen Door to be mostly overrated, best food there is the fried seafood) tried to grab Pine State at one of the markets but the line was like 40 deep
Where Eagles Dare if you make Astoria do Fort George Buoy Beer Reach Break (get a pulled pork sandwich from the yellow food cart) In Cannon Beach there are a couple good breweries as well Public Coast Bill's Tavern Plus Pelican Brewing has a tasting house. On your way to Astoria you can stop in Seaside at Seaside Brewing for some more good beer.
Astorias Cannary Pier hotel is one of the best hotels I've stayed at, shit is built way out at the end of a pier near the bridge into Washington, boats going by constantly the hotel is very basic but the location/every room having over water decks is nice
did you try that bistro that's right there? Had a Fried chicken and Kimchi sandwich there that was excellent
Pine state is the best that Portland has to offer. I used to go there for dinner (and avoid the crowds) like 1-2 times a month, but they changed their hours recently and now close at 3
hah yes we did, just walked over for dinner one night, was really good can't remember what I ate because wife and I walked around to the different bars before meeting my parents there
PIne State had a cart at the PBR Project last summer. Watching STRFKR while high and eating a Reggie and washing it down with some PBR was glorious
Been a nice stay in ur state. Cannon Beach was super cool and small. Got way too much weed, drank at Seasside Brewery, strolled around Cannon Beach and smoked a j at sunset. Ate some edibles the next day, explored haystack rock and beach, ate crab and slept in the beach for an hour. Had a bonfire at night. Portland is pretty cool place. Real small and close. Went to Saturday Market, drank some, went to dinner at Ned Ludd (OK) in the NE on MLK. Drank yesterday at Duschutes, 10 Barrell, Turn Turn Turn and Doug Fir. Ended with dinner at Olympia Provision. Wife's leaving today. Gonna hit up Multnomah Whiskey Library this afternoon and find some other shit around while I'm solo for 2 nights. Oh...gotta figure our how to consume all the weed I still have
