Shit good thing I'm out of town and didn't have a way to watch the game this morning. Wtf Only possible good thing that could come from this is if the board wakes up, hard not to be worried now
It's possible to say we look like shit in this match without saying the season is ruined. We've never been down 3 goals at half at Stamford Bridge. Hardly an overreaction for a season opener.
Total collapse after the red was baflling but at least we fought back. Maybe we can go one match without a red card
Think the club needs to re evaluate things with Cahill. He is a good compliment but he isn't an alpha and loses his head.
Positives Morata, rudiger and christsensen. Honestly excited to see morata link with hazard. Fuck that game though Who does everyone think starts next to kante with cesc suspended assuming bakayako isn't healthy? Luiz in the midfield with Azpi/rudiger/Christensen back 3?
At least we fought for it in the second half that was encouraging. Morata was a game changer. Fab let petulance get the better of him and that's pretty disappointing.
Fuck. The good: Morata, Rüdiger, and Christensen were all very good imo. Willy and Kante (2nd goal defending aside) were great too. The bad: Everything else? Cahill and Fab being fucking morons. Luiz with the nice goal but at fault for at least one goal and arguably two. Michy was awful, been a big supporter but that was dreadful. Dave at WB was shit too, just doesn't have it going forward. That was the most shit refereeing since Barca 2009. Cahill red was harsh imo, and Burnley should have had a player sent off (tackle on Alonso in second half). Card/foul on Rüdiger near the end was pathetic, foul on Rüdiger in the box, etc. Time to buy... Edit: Props to my iPhone for autocorrecting and umlaut onto Rüdiger.
Camping with the family this weekend and limited wifi (I'm standing in the one spot I can pick up signal) so I guess I win by not seeing a second of this. 3 points at wembley next week and things will be ok.
Azpi did an interview yesterday basically asking for signings. Costa also gave an interview still trying to play the victim. Even if there is some near term pain we absolutely needed to get away from costa and his toxicity. Mourinho is great when things are going well and bad when things turn for the worse. I have no doubt that 15-16 would repeat this year under him. Despite some recent frustrations conte has always seemed more positive. His reaction to Liverpool/Arsenal games last year was swift and spot on. Hopefully he can right the ship again this year and we can go on a run. I am just happy we get Tottenham at wembley.
With all the bullshit going on does anyone really think we can muster a win at Tottenham? Let alone a draw
we gonna buy any good players this year? i'll hang up and listen. tired of no names when players like neymar are moving around. give me a superstar, give me a reason to watch. i hate how the team is currently constructed, it's boring as fuck.
I agree the drama does not inspire confidence but its not technically 'at', given the match is at Wembley. Spurs have struggled at the new Wembley. 2-1-6 iirc. It will be a somewhat unfamiliar pitch for Tottenham given its large size, and Chelsea's current squad just got a good look at it a few weeks ago.
I'm not overly confident given everything going on, but I think the team will be ready especially after last week. Am I over reacting in thinking this is a pretty important match? I know it's early but with everything going on it would be huge if the team could pull out a win to kind of steady the ship.
I agree with this line of thought. Hard to expect to beat a spurs team with less injuries/issues surrounding them but they have struggled at wembley and I think that gives me some confidence. A win against a big side without hazard (or even a draw where we look good and it doesn't feel like a lucky draw) would do a lot to stem some of the negativity
In positive news hazard and bakayako have resumed first team training today. Not sure on the time left in recovery/regaining match fitness but that's a good sign. Would be great if both are ready to at least make the bench and maybe a sub appearance for the Everton game.
Dude, if you need a sexy transfer to give yourself a reason to watch Chelsea play, it's a bit disingenuous to call yourself a fan. If anything, I'm sure the team will be in a healthier mental state. That capitulation last week was embarrassing, no doubt in my mind that Conte's been all over them for that bullshit. I think we definitely have a chance, but it will be tough.
Can admit Jose's bus parking could get old at times but thought Conte's 3-4-3 / 3-5-2 was pretty goddamn fun to watch last year.
Hazard, Pedro, Willian and Costa is entertaining no matter what formation you put them in. Morata looks like he will be fun to watch too
I see the criticism for chelsea under Mourinho but chelsea under conte were not boring. Hazard is probably the most fun player in the league to watch. Pedro is a good compliment to hazard. Personally I think the Morata is much more skilled than costa and the 3 of them (when healthy) will look great together. I dont think Cesc fits in that well with the current formation but I am excited to see Bakayoko. I wont go full homer and say he is an auto-upgrade on matic but he is more dynamic and can provide more going forward. I would like us to be a bit more dynamic down the wings at wingback. Maybe that is upgrading or maybe its just more rotation to allow whoever plays to go full out. Such a demanding position. Unless Mourinho or Big Sam is the coach, any team with hazard in it will be fun to watch.
Not really. They added Alonso and Luiz last year and Baba(I think)/Pedro the year before late so there are still signing to come.
feel like the board just isnt in a hurry to get anything done. Also, we have put ourselves out there as being desperate for depth because we loaned every fucking one, and clubs have us by our balls. Hell, Leciester wants 40 for Drinkwater...wtf?
Would be fine with an Ox and Roberto for the end of the window. Versatility and not nearly as expensive as the other options. Sandro a pipe dream and Rose and Drinkeater not worth what's been quoted.
I'd be happy with that. Also, I would like another cb because I'm over Cahill and can't see him leading the line going forward.
Cahill is still fine I think, definitely need to get some consistency with the back three like we had last year. Azpi Cahill and Luiz were just very in sync, once Rudiger gels I think we will be solid, he's a beast.
