The only thing that I could think would be interesting enough for a movie was if somehow someone got a suspicion of Luke and Kenobi had to secretly defend him. What else could happen between episodes III and IV?
You don't have to have some big twenty-year long storyline. Just one mission or adventure when someone comes to town. Something to explore Obi Wan's sense of regret and his determination to make things right by Luke
Obi wan reflecting on his and the jedi's choices and gaining a deeper understanding of he living force
tbh there doesn't seem to be any interesting obi-wan movie concept to me. the prequels ruined that opportunity, plus he was featured so heavily in the clone wars and rebels
A vast majority of the interest seems to stem from having a great actor primed and ready. It's literally geographically, as well as narratively, limited. MAYBE you can be sneaky with the canon by having a young Luke interact with him but even then I can't imagine there being much substance to it since he didn't reveal anything to him since ANH. Perhaps some interaction with Owen and/or Beru. The story I posted mentioned that there isn't even a script yet so I don't even think Lucasfilm knows what they're doing with the character.
i'd like them to go away from the episodic saga. do something in the universe, but something that has nothing to do with the skywalkers, solo, etc.
They're talking about a Jabba movie as well as Boba Fett, so not encouraging on the branching out and expanding the universe front :-/ I'm enjoying Inferno Squad so far though, but I'm a sucker for the crack commando team type stories.
Fassbender as Thrawn Aphra would be cool as well but I will admit that bringing in the parent relationship seemed a bit repetitive so maybe they could ignore that in a movie
This is why I've not been thrilled with the idea of the character based movies; Han Solo, obi wan, boba fett. I don't want them to just start making stories for these characters and have to try fitting them into the greater universe just to tell me what I already know; Han Solo is cool, obi wan is stoic, boba fett is a badass. I'd much prefer movies with new characters based on events in the timeline that can be expanded on like Rougue One did. Spoiler but I'll still throw money at any of those movies, so fuck me right
My excitement for an Obi Wan movie is very low. It might pick up as I hear more about it, and after we see the Han Solo movie. I'd still prefer a more adventure filled movie to one set entirely on Tatooine. The Satine love story and everything associated with it would be good. But that would mean no Ewan and that would turn off a huge number of the fans. They wouldn't even give the movie a chance without Ewan.
What if it's a movie about Obi Wan in the desert thinking back about his time with quigon and satine? Spoiler And it tells the story of how he had secret daughter with satine Spoiler who then has a secret daughter with Ezra Bridger Spoiler and that secret daughter ends up on Jakku Spoiler
These one off SW movies are good in that they'll be able to snag good and high profile actors. Make something new and original in a SW universe with a solid script and reputable director and tell actors they won't have to commit to multi-film deals and they'll sign on the dotted line instantly, especially ones with kids. And for the love of The Force please get Spielberg to do a SW movie
because those movies feel safe for them. With ESPN failing and them currently spending a shit ton of money adding on to the theme parks, Disney wants reliable revenue streams from their cash cows in Star Wars and Marvel. They may be willing to take some chances when the parks are finished, sometime in the 20's. I'm starting to wonder if we may actually get the fabled Old Republic trilogy after Episode IX as the next "saga" trilogy then they alternate trilogies between the two timelines to give the casts time away from the movies or a chance to turnover. Doesn't really work because the saga has always been about Skywalker's and I'm not crazy about some unknown Skywalker being created for thousands of years ago, but they seem focused on making the one off's focused on characters or singular events and cramming all the potential Old Republic stuff into one movie would be pretty dumb. That said, I'm all onboard for the Obi Wan movie. I don't care when it is. It will have Ewan McGregor with dialogue not written by George Lucas. That guy managed to shine as Obi Wan despite some of the worst scripting ever. It'll be gold.
Random thing I thought about recently... What do we see first (if ever): animated feature or live action tv?
I think we'll see live action TV a la a Netflix series on the new Disney streaming thing sometime in the next 5 years. No idea what era it would cover.
A Boba Fett and Dengar buddy cop movie. The straight-laced and serious Boba has to team up with the goofy, unlucky, messy Dengar.
I just started season 3 of Rebels, show is so great. I watch it with my almost two year old daughter when I get home from work, "gon watch 'tar wars?" I die every time.
I would like, and I think they've set it up nicely, some movies set in the post-RotJ era. They've set it up to where there is a lot a space to work in. They've established a familiar waypoint in Maz's castle that any adventure can stop at and is a touchstone for fans, casual or hardcore. There are many characters they've introduced in canon that they could tell their story. Actually, as I type this, I think a vignette about Maz's castle over the centuries could be very good. Maybe not a full movie but something.
A more adult themed Luke-based post ROTJ animated series would be awesome. Would be silly to not at least utilize Hamill's obvious vocal talents.
Yoda's Jedi starfighter from season 6 of TCW. Ironically looking most like a TIE fighter than any other Republic or Jedi ship https://goo.gl/images/kxSLvR
