I really should know better. Some of them that come in this thread or comment on Kaepernick are great examples of right-wing PC/snowflake-outrage culture.
I've never said anything racist. You can't find it. Maybe stop being so sensitive and change my mind with a counterpoint that makes sense instead of the usual "durrr you're racist and stupid". You're an absolute moron if you buy Bennett's account as being the truth. He is insulting your intelligence and you're falling for it.
What are you? Some idiot college kid that hasn't lived in the real world. Do you expect cops to keep the peace and protect citizens like yourself without stopping and questioning some innocent people along the way? If you believe a 300+ lb NFL tackle suffered from "unbearable" excessive force and had a gun put to his head all in the middle of the vegas strip on the busiest night of the year, I think we're done here. Guess I'm racist for not buying that.
Shut the fuck up you racist piece of shit, you're pathetic racist who is terrified of your own shadow, pussy.
if you disagree with someone who thinks they are defending someone against racism, it makes you a racist. Whenever someone claims racism, your only option is to take their side 100%. If you don't, you are taking the side of racism, and are in fact yourself a racist.
How dare you sir? I'm defending someone who might be a black man and you tell me to shut the fuck up? Do you personally have any idea what it's like to be black in this country??? No, you don't, so maybe you should shut the fuck up and stop being racist. Trumptards like you with your vile racist attitudes are what's wrong with this country.
Except I'm black dickface piece of shit and he is not. You're defending someone who you know nothing about simply because he's a fellow Trumptard, so again shut the fuck up asshole.
I don't care if he's a fellow Trumptard of yours or not, he's still a potential black man, and if I am defending him you can't argue against me, or it's racism, plain and simple. Now take your hate speech somewhere else.
He's not black, so what the fuck are you talking about? I know you Trumptards have a pact to white knight for one another but you should at least have a clue of who you're defending before mounting your steed.
How do you know he's not black? He has a black man in his avatar, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt here. You, on the other hand, have white people and communist, fascist Russian symbology in yours. You Trumptards are all so transparent. But seriously, stop with the hate speech, it's not cool. You don't have the right to attack people like that, and don't be racist please.
They are literally walking and running by hundreds of black men in that video. The claim that Bennett was targeted for doing nothing more than being a black man is a tough one to make in light of that fact.
It's always amusing to watch the typical "wait for all the facts!" people fall over themselves creating their own uninformed conclusions.
He said they singled him out and pointed a gun at his head because he was black, I see it differently than claiming to be targeted.
He suggested that the police treated him differently because he was a black man. If you read what he says, you would think there is a crowd of white people and here is this lone black guy, and the cops pounce on him. But when you watch the video, the crowd is mostly black men. They singled him out, that part is clearly true, but his race and gender did not appear to have anything to do with it. if it did, why weren't they abusing all of the black men in the area? The video shows the cops NOT singling out hundreds of black men, and singling out one who ran from the scene. So....maybe it was the fact that he ran that caused the cops to single him out and not his race or gender?
Being treated differently and unfair does not mean singled out and the whole "they weren't abusing other black people" narrative is the dumbest shit I've read. Read his letter again he mentions he was "singled out and had a gun pulled to his head" because he's a black man. dblplay1212 had a great post on comparing his experience with cops vs his friend's (who is black) experience with cops. The issue is not always that you're being stopped in my own personal experience the issue is the way they treat and talk to poc. I had a fucking sergeant once tell me that because "people don't have criminals written on their forehead" he has to treat me like a criminal until he determines that I'm not a criminal. I was wearing a fucking suit and I said to him how many Street criminals he encounters wearing suits, his response was "I just assumed you came back from court". I doubt a white guy gets the same shit if they were in my position.
Just to clarify here, you think the sole reason they did what they did (ran after him, cuffed him, "put a gun to his head", etc., all of that) to Bennet was that he was a black man? Had he been a white man and did the same exact thing, how does that go down? They don't run after him at all? They do run after him, but they are more gentle when they catch him? I'm not saying there are not racist cops, and I'm not saying you've never been the victim of racism. But this case does not seem to be a very good example of either.
I can't speak to this specific interaction, but in my experience interactions between LEO and people of color are a lot different. It's not a matter of the cop being a racist, black cops do the same shit, the problem is systematic.
so again, you think the reason for the entire interaction, the way they handled it, etc. was because he was a black man? There is no other plausible explanation for any of that in your mind?
well thanks for responding to a discussion specifically about this interaction with "I can't speak to this specific interaction". Nice work, as always.
My response to what he stated in the letter, which no matter how many times you repeat it did not state that he was chased because he was black.
Did they arrest one white man? Listen, I get your point but If you don't see that there is a problem in the USA right now with police and black people, wether it is racism or just how the socio-economics work, you are either naive, stupid, racist or all of the above. Police is not suppose to put fear in any people who are not doing anything wrong, what happened to Bennett should not be excused as a little mistake. An honest citizen should not have to go through this..black or white. But obviously not one single white man was handcuffed on the fucking sidewalk
It's like you were trying to prove him right. Well played. Was there a video somewhere that I missed that supported/refuted Bennet's claims or is this back and forth about a hypothetical? I got pulled out of a car back in highschool, cuffed, forceably sat on the concrete and rained on all on my way to work. Was with my buddies who I worked with. One Mexican. One black. They said our car matched a description of a breaking and entering suspect in "a blue car." Cept we were in my buddies black pickup. Definitely felt like the force they used was excessive but it's actually the only time I've been cuffed by the police so maybe that's just SOP. It was embarrassing and hurt my wrists. Nothing horrible but having never experienced anything like it seemed very scary at the time. They eventually told us "we could go." Always assumed that the part of "matching the description" was that we were a group of mixed race but obviously don't know. Ironic thing was that our job we were going to was as telemarketers for the Police Officers Research Association of California. I guess my point is that we almost assuredly were profiled and that it seemed much worse than it was because we weren't used to being manhandled. Maybe both sides could be telling the truth as they see it? Obligatory coolstorybro
I have no problem calling someone a racist who says shit like a dozen people rioting is justification for abusing all black protesters, that's not even a dog whistle that's blatant shit. I never stated that Bennet's claims were justified, but I love the "wait for all the evidence to be gather" posters assuming that Bennet was lying before actually waiting for all evidence to be gathered. Imagine if what you described in your story didn't just happen to you once, you probably would stop believing that you "matched the description" every time it happens.
I just want to clarify. Are you advocating to rush to judgement instead of allowing time to investigate the claims? Again I have no idea if Bennetts claims are true but would like to see it investigated to identify if he is right. But I would rather wait to label these cops as racist until there is some evidence of it.
The way I read it, you seemed to be making a smart ass comment about those who advocated "waiting for the evidence to be gathered". I was asking to clarify rather than assuming like too many people on this board seem to do. So are you advocating a rush to judgement, or are you in favor of waiting to see what the evidence shows happened? It's a pretty simple question.
