Is Harbaugh even top 5 coach in the B1G? Urban Franklin Brohm Dantonio Fleck Ferentz Chryst Durkin are all better than he is
If the choice is Harbaugh at $9 million or rolling the dice with the pool of available coaches (and paying them $5 mil at least) give me Harbaugh.
Doesn’t Harbaugh have a winning record against all of those coaches except Meyer, Dantonio, and Ferentz...but yeah they’re all better :eyeroll:
I find it funny that everyone was like “This is a 3 year rebuild” and then when we’re not winning the B1G in year 3 its all “Harbaugh is overrated”.
A lot of people were saying this was a rebuild, hell hoke didn’t even make a bowl game his last year.
You don’t think him coaching them up had anything to do with that? Do you think Hoke would have had 47 players go to the draft had we gave him 2 more years?
I'm referring to you calling this a "rebuild" It isn't a rebuild when you have the talent on the roster already
Yeah thats why teams get new coaches. At 9mm he was bascially compared to only Saban and Meyer, and they obviously didnt need 4 years. Hence the discussion.
OSU and MSU fans talking shit about Harbaugh/UM is legit. They're our rivals and have beaten UM so they can talk all the shit they want. I kind of understand the PSU angle, even though Harbaugh has destroyed Franklin twice. Bama fans' annoyance at Harbaugh getting attention is weird but amusing so I've learned to just laugh and move on. But a Florida fan chiming in about Harbaugh being overrated after those two games and shark fucker as your coach? That's a little much.
True. Rich Rod singing Josh Grobin is the gift that keeps giving. I actually liked Hoke based on interviews and thought he would do well.
It’s just a stupid stat. If Brady Hoke had kept up his 24-7/.500 against rivals pace he’d never have been fired in the first place. It wasn’t the first 2.5 years that were the problem, it was the 20 games after that.
It’s the same thing ND fans always get about Weis and Willingham Harbaugh needs a qb or needs to give up play calling But the dude can coach
No one said that. I've seen that on twitter countless times but Hoke was an above average recruiter without a drastically different scheme
Lol almost the entire B1G thread 3yrs ago were predicting us to win 6 or 7 games that year. We won 10 and one of our losses was the MSU punt disaster. Revisionist history is getting ridiculous.
This week has taught me that the "MSU punt disaster" and Ohio State converting a first down don't count in the eyes of many michigan fans. I'm sure by next year, our win on Saturday also won't count (rain, turnovers, 5 TO's, etc.)

That was pretty much what everyone said we would do going into Harbaugh's first season. That there was no way he would take a 5-7 team with a grad transfer starting QB and make a big jump. Then when we went 10-2 the narrative changed to why didn't we win the Big Ten. It doesn't really matter though because Harbaugh likes to put himself in the media and the more he does the more scrutiny he's going to face when we lose.
Lol I don't have that kind of energy, but in the preseason composite poll (AP/Coaches/ESPN/Athlon/Lindys, etc) had us at 36, Phil Steele didn't even list us in his top 40, and Vegas had us O/U@8.
I think Harbaugh is a great coach and is doing a good job, but I still can't believe the number of UM fans that said they would rather have Harbaugh over Saban.
I know it wasn't that Michigan fans think Harbaugh is a better coach, but that Harbaugh was a "better fit." I still think that's crazy.
In fairness to Michigan, from an OSU fan, they lost a ton of talent from that 2016 team. I've always thought this was a rebuild year. I thought it would be the Michigan defense, and promised Celemo that I wouldn't mention returning 1/11 starters on D again, but their defense is surprisingly good. Legitimate Harbaugh criticism is that this offense has been dreadful. It's been terrible under three different QBs in three different seasons. Since 2015, Harbaugh has signed four different QBs who were arivals four stars. Gentry is now a TE and Peters/Malzone/McCaffrey have not played. QB play has been horrific.
Fwiw I think Harbaugh is a good coach and the reaction to the MSU loss seems like overaction. I also thought it was ridiculous to think he was a better fit than Nick Saban would be. Basically what miles said
