Now you see, they're hording it until they get tax cuts. Once the tax cuts come, they will invest. Once they invest, companies will magically pay employers more, not horde that money again. You see this is how it's been since the 80s, which is why we're all so much wealthier now.

Except inherited wealth is outstripping those who are self made successes. People point to the richest Americans in this country as if they are enterprising individuals who are keeping the American dream alive, when in fact a whopping majority of them were born with a silver spoon factory in their mouths. We basically have a static nobility in this country that's only going to become more entrenched if Trump gets the tax cuts he wants. I know this is a fruitless argument to make given who I'm responding to.
More money for the rich and less for everyone else destroys our society and economy. A more just distribution of the products of our society and economy would make us much richer and safer overall.
This is a massive misconception. People think big whigs just hoard their money like Scrooge McDuck when in reality they invest it banks and stocks that allow for lending, thus helping the economy grow.
Please let me know what "helping the economy grow" means to you? Does it matter to you if only the top 1% actually get a slice of that larger pie? You're using "helping the economy grow" as a rebuttal to "top 1% hoarding money" when they two can be exist perfectly comfortably together.
Also, they don't just put it in banks and take their sliver of interest and allow reasonable rate loans to hardworking start-ups. They put it many other places (and the rich don't use savings accounts at all)... e.g. They find real estate to invest in (or they put it into funds that invest in real estate). There are hundreds of empty apartments in Manhattan because Chinese bliionaires have nowhere to put there money and they want to invest it in US currency so they buy NYC apartments. This drives up the housing prices on rich New Yorkers who move out to Brooklyn and drive up the prices on poor New Yorkers. One thing that definitely does trickle down is increased real estate prices to the poor people.
This graph is probably easier to interpret for paste eaters like rules: Hmm, weird that most American's wealth started disappearing right around the time of Reagan's magical "trickle down" policies. The only people that have benefitted from "trickle-down economics" are the top 10%. Because it's really "trickle up" economics, and an entire generation of conservatives have been conned into believing trickle down economics is a real thing. If we really want to harken back to the "good old days" when America was great, we need to start by stopping the flat out robbery of the average American's wealth.
I 100% agree with you. I think that you are the best steward of your own money and should keep the vast majority of it while you are alive. However, When you pass I think your contributions to the world should be returned to society and not given to someone. I am firm believer that one should earn their status in society, not be given it.
