This statement bears repeating...for both sides of the coin here. Sometimes, I couldn't agree more with this statement. Others? Way off the rails.
Lubick was an upgrade at WR coach from Frost. Debatable whether he was a better OC. Frost had Mariota for two years then Vernon Adams, Lubick had Dakota Prukop and true freshman Justin Herbert. Playcalling was questionable for both at times. Lubick was certainly the better recruiter throughout their tenures. If we lose Taggart to Florida State, Frost will be one of the top guys we look at (assuming he’s not at Nebraska yet). We chalk up a lot of his perceived laziness at Oregon to being underneath low-t Helfrich. But it appears that he has grown since then and checks a lot of boxes that we’d be looking for.
Lubick’s name has been bandied about as a possible OC for Frost at Nebraska if Walters doesn’t come with.
Would he really take a lateral move like that? We would like that though, we were pretty disappointed that he landed at UW. He’s a great offensive mind.
No clue, I saw he was just listed as a Co-OC there when I googled him so assumed he must be the lesser one if people thought he might take an OC job here.
Let the record reflect, The Banks is blatantly neglecting his about face, as suggested by his further participation itt. Let us not project onto the rest of the #Oregon Ducks fanbase, as this may be a lone wolf situation.
He’d be a homerun, imo. Had 4-8 Oregon, with the worst defense in the country, four freshman OL, and a true freshman at QB, ranked the 13th best offense in the country.
i'm not sure why we're talking about scott frost as a potential oregon coach. congrats in advance to our nebraska posters. frost wasn't highly thought of here and the knowledgable oregon fans weren't sad when he left. he was a poor recruiter and didn't do anything outstanding with an unbelievable amount of offensive talent. as a WR coach, his replacement in lubick delivered better results. as an oc, we obviously fell off with lubick but that's after years of Mariota and Vernon Adams (and Chip) in the preceding years and the program fell apart. clearly Frost has done a great job as a HC at UCF - he's turned around that program and it's really challenging to go undefeated even if you're more talented than everyone you play - so maybe oregon fans are wrong. or maybe frost is more focused and locked in as a hc and has improved on his weaknesses. or maybe it's both. or maybe he's larry coker or something. who knows. erik chinander was supposed to be a really well-regarded assistant that chip liked, iirc. i think he was a GA and was hired as a position coach at one point. lubick is sonny lubick's kid (colorado state's long-time coach) and also has a great pedigree. we really liked both of them, though the defense was pretty garbage with chins. we were bummed frost took him to UCF, though, especially as he was supposed to be a good recruiter (though on our old staff, that could've just been someone who actually recruited...
Chins did the legwork in recruiting for two of the other defensive coaches while at Oregon so he had a lot on his plate.
Another guy to keep an eye on for Frost’s staff at Nebraska if he goes there is Joe Bernardi - OL. Buddies with Frost. He’s largely responsible for our current offensive line.
Most think that current UCF OL coach Greg Austin who is a former Husker lineman is a shoo in for the OL coach.
Many, many Oregon people were saying they wanted to give Frost a lifetime head coaching contract. Believe me, many people.
That awkward moment when you realize that so far this whole page of the UCF thread is entirely other fanbases
This thread is about UCF football. UCF’s head coach formerly worked at Oregon and will likely work at Nebraska soon.
We only got to see him as a WR coach, QB coach, and OC. And he had certain weaknesses: recruiting, QB development, situational playcalling, game prep, in-game adjustments. We were used to Chip so the playcalling might be unfair (aside from 4th and goal fades to 5’9” receivers) and Chip was also very stubborn in-game even when things clearly weren’t working. But we didn’t get to see him as a head coach running his own show, making the big decisions. He was just a cog at Oregon that had to follow in some big footsteps. Since he’s been at UCF the playcalling has been creative and successful. Not sold on him being an elite recruiter but he has seemed to find a few guys that work well in his system. The program as a whole appears to have a concrete unified direction it is heading. In-game adjustments we haven’t had a chance to see much of because UCF has been blowing people out for the most part (kudos). With Taggart hire it was clear that the AD wanted a young energetic offensive guy who’s a good recruiter that can put together a staff with a mix of great recruiters (Cristobal, Woodie, Heyward, Arroyo) and great gameplanners (Leavitt, Clark, Salave’a). Frost seems like he can do that. Will our AD consider him based on his standing when he left the program? Not sure. But he’d be on my realistic top 10 list if he’s still at UCF whenever Taggart bails.
I know, I get why it’s being discussed. I was just pointing it out. it’s cool, please, feel free to continue. If us UCF fans want to discuss UCF things we can always take it to the post if your team is undefeated thread for a few days while you guys hash this all out. it is just us and Wisconsin fans in there now and Wisconsin hasn’t shown any thirst for our coach as of yet so we’ll be fine over there for a bit. Just remember to take out the trash and restock anything you drink from the liquor cabinet please.
You guys (Oregon fans) have shit all over Scott every chance you've had. Forgive me for calling you out when you shift with the winds when it becomes a possibility that you may need to beg him to be your head coach.
"The only thing that sets me off is when I see people who have no experience with my home state, the University, nor the people here making degrading statements about it. " Welcome to the last 6 months of interactions with Nebraska fans for us. But some of you have been chill so thanks for that. It's all in good fun and I hope we handle the news of the next couple weeks with class.
This report was BS. That being said 40/60 he stays at UCF at this point. No decision has been made, nothing has been signed, no secret meeting has happened where a deal was struck. Frost is still deciding and UCF admin are doing the full court press. It just may not be enough. It also sounds like his wife’s feelings about this were either not quite so significant or he is telling her to stfu. Still think it’s a bad move for him. He won’t be coaching at Nebraska in 6 years if I had to guess.
It’s just bullshit that in the middle of an undefeated season all we see is other fanbases littering our board talking about how we can’t have nice things, reporters asking our players what they think about it, people coming to our games with signs telling our coach to leave, etc. You turn on ESPN and nobody talks about our team or how good we’ve played, but instead it’s hey UCF...so who is gonna fuck them and take their coach? The players are actually not happy right now with all this stuff and maybe even Coach himself. Won’t be surprised if Memphis beats us and we go to the ColoredPrinterPaper.com Bowl.
I hate that we have to play Memphis again. Reminds me of the 2007 CCG when we played Tulsa and i just had the worst feeling. Now we have a potentially distracted coaching staff and team, no bye week, and a surging Memphis team.
It's better than not being talked about? UCF has a lot of great things in place for a coach to be successful there. If you hire a good football coach he should have no problem keeping ya'll rolling. You're a conference move away from being with the big dogs - it'll happen, probably sooner than Nebraska winning a conference championship.
Guys, again, we have a thread for this: https://www.the-mainboard.com/index...here-other-than-the-ucf-thread-thread.170704/
UF HIRES DAN MULLEN now Nebraska keep ur hands off and maybe we ( us ) can get in a power 5 conference ..
Rivals has a goood cyber Monday deal for anyone looking for inside info on our looming coaching search $99 for the subscription and you get $99 gift certificate for gear from the shop.
Hopefully we don’t come out flat. After such an emotional rollercoaster of a game Friday, that could be a real potential
That’s what is annoying though, UCF isnt really getting talked about. Anytime any media talks about us it’s all about where Frost will end up; Nebraska, Florida, UCLA, etc. Staying at UCF is never even mentioned as an option
Its amazing how much of a tighter ship White and Frost run. Nothing gets out unless they want it to. Old admin leaked so bad.
I enjoyed the coaching and AD search 2 years ago. Other than that it's trash but I'm going to buy $100 worth of peach bowl gear anyway
I know it doesn’t make it any better, but UCF the school isn’t holding y’all back. It’s the AAC, as soon as you find your way into a P5, you’ll start retaining coaches.
