Technically I could have sex with Kate Upton too but the odds are about the same as moving in the Mrs.’ eyes
Getting quotes for concrete pouring to put in a patio in the backyard. No access, so needs to be pumped in. Also doing stamping to give stone look. Have had three estimates of $11/sf, $12/sf, and $17/sf. The company who quoted the $11 was a little sketchy though. About 600 sf.
Closing on the house soon and still need to get a good garage door opener. Hoping for some app connectivity. Any recommendations?
that sounds high to me, but it may just be a cost of material in your area thing or it could be that you will be better off just getting some guys from in front of Home Depot
Chamberlin has a great one. I love the app being able to open or close remotely but mainly it lets me check and see it’s closed when I usually forget and start wondering once I am more than 10 mins from the house
A. Define "a little sketchy" B. Are your quotes actually per square foot or are you breaking them down? Are there other things included? Formwork? Aggregate? Compaction? Reinforcement? Dye? Protection for nearby plants/landscaping/draping the house against splatter? Just make sure you are comparing apples to apples. The concrete should cost about the same to every company ($105-$125 cu/yd, probably) There is a lot to consider depending on sitework and all that jazz. One company may own a pump truck/trailer, one may be renting. Ask for references. Standard advice stuff.
Actually not bad at all. Her sister is a travelling HR manager who's gone like half the month. When she's home, the wife and kids go over there for a couple hours to hang out leaving the house to myself. Her parents are both retired so we'll go over there or have them over every now and then. Pretty much everyone has boundaries and we respect them. If my garbage bag is full and I need to, I can throw a bag in the s-i-l's can on trash day. If the s-i-l needs help raking leaves or whatever, we send the kids over to help. It works surprisingly well considering the proximity
New roof and gutters are almost done, wife called me dealing out because some plywood needed replacing and she wasn’t expecting additional repairs. I laughed and asked her with how much HGTV she watches did she honestly think there weren’t going to be any surprises. I’m an asshole apparently
my wife literally cant handle the thought of contractors being here without me A/C guy is coming out Tuesday cause we have a freon leak, wife is asking me to take off work to be here even though she has known this guy for 2 years and knows he will call me with any questions
Well on the real subject of the thread we’re selling our house and my life has alternated between travel for work during the week and projects on the weekend. Ready to be done with this shit
Yesterday I spent 7 hours ripping up crusty carpet on the last room we got to since moving in 6 years ago. It was on concrete, 226 sq ft and they used approximately 25 gallons of adhesive. Carpet ripped off the foam beautifully. Was leaning vinyl plank, going to Lowes to browse now. I'll be angry is less than an hour. 1. After being asked what I think for the 47th time in 15 minutes I'll get called a fucking dickhead. 2. No one will be working in flooring today.
Had two instances where HD didn't honor warranty, on their plan, not the manufactures. So after significant documentation, correspondence and lost dough I am never giving them my money again. Been in my current home for 6+ years and bought both items from there when I moved in that failed in under 3. Ended up getting one complete replacement from a manufacturer.
well anybody could have told you to never buy the in store extended warranty, ever, at pretty much any store
Wasn't extended but good tip none the less. I'm not telling anyone to go to Lowes fwiw, just that I'm not going to Home Depot.
Unfortunately even though you bought it from HD, those are farmed out to a third party. What were they?
wait, you had a more than 3 year store warranty from a big box store that wasnt an instore extended warranty? what products were these? i mean i am laughing my ass off at just the thought of bringing anything back to a store after 3 years and expecting a warranty, unless it was a craftsman wrench
