It was family style and a shit load of food. Like twice as much as we needed. They boxed it up for us then a bunch of savages destroyed it at like 6 am
Playing golf at Grove Park, and then seeing SCI coming up the next month. I'm staying in West Asheville, which is slowly developing into a nice place to visit.
Tobias will the Bier Garden have a bunch of local craft beers? heading down today and still thinking bier garden for national championship game. Also thought about Pack's? Are there any actually breweries downtown with tap rooms?
yeah they'll have a ton of stuff. if you're in a pizza mood, asheville brewing is a pizza place that will have their stuff on tap
I'm going to get down there about 6 or 630 so I'll have a couple hours or so to kill before the game. Not like I have to be somewhere by 9:20 to catch the tip though.
If youre planning on brewery hopping just head down to south slope. Can hit any or all of green man, burial, twin leaf, wicked weed funkatorium, Catawba, hi wire, Asheville brewing etc etc. I usually Uber/walk to the original green man or burial and start from there
Thread has been tremendously helpful. Will be coming up in late August for my bachelor party. Plan to take my best man and pot luck freshman year roomate on a guided fly fishing trip. Then hiking and day drinking at the breweries. Admiral sounds like my cup of tea, can they accomodate 10? Gan Shan sounds legit. Bone and Broth sounds great, but maybe not our scene this trip. Gonna try and do a show at the Orange Peel.
Definitely mine. Very cool vibe and the beer is phenomenal. Do they distribute beer in NC or SC? I wouldn’t mind picking some up for home.
We watched the game there tonight, only had the usually 6-8 folks that come in there every night. We were debating heading up to Fraziers
Yes, they do but only select ones. Check out the bottle shops in Asheville you should find some. We get distribution here in Greensboro, but not much of the limited release stuff.
i am not a breakfast guy at all but i went to biscuit head friday morning and didn’t really like it to be honest
almost a year after this post :( https://www.citizen-times.com/story...tes-pies-downtown-asheville-closed/514497002/ one of my favorite bars in asheville. liked the location and set-up. pete was super nice and enjoyed shooting the shit with soccer fans there. pretty bummed out to see that
We were talking about this last night and in relation to World Cup. 2010 greenman would open early and 2014 really didn’t have an issue because of times. We were talking to the guys at dirtys and doubtful that they will open for the 8am games, 11am they will if they know a few of us coming. With Pete closing up, maybe High wire will put them on early. He’s been pretty good about that in the past before they got big.
Just realized the Rome Braves will be in town next week when I am, so looking to go Tuesday. Anybody been to a Tourist game? Anything to note?
hi wire kinda sucks. i went with a buddy when i first moved up here. saturday 12:30 nbc game and they had zero screens up and when we asked they messed around with getting one on and couldnt make it work. wasnt really asking for an obscure game and they kind of dropped the ball for the supposed "home of asheville soccer"
Had a friend that played with the wizards along with adam (believe thats the guy that started it) 3 years ago and he would be there for every early game at 7-9am on saturday or sunday. Had a guy that would come in and do english breakfast for the 6 or so folks there watching the morning games. When my buddy moved away 2 years ago I have not been back. Beer kinda sucks.
yeah i am not a fan at all of their beer either. maybe they've gotten their act together since the last time i went. may try it out for the city game on saturday now that pete's is closed
I went to Bomba today and got what was probably the best value meal of my life. Really nice breakfast burrito and side salad for like 3.75. It felt like stealing.
Visiting my parents at their cabin in Cherokee for the week, heading up to gatlinburg and pigeon forge tomorrow Any good recs on things to do/see in either of those 2 areas or Asheville with a 4 year old
Pigeon forge and Gatlinburg are full of touristy awful bullshit to take a kid to. Don't know what any of them are called though
