I said this on an earlier page but it bears repeating: There are two different reasons not to worry if all you care about out of this situation is getting the Marvel characters under the MCU's control. 1) Comcast is going to offer Fox more money but Disney is offering stock options with their buyout. That's a much sweeter pot, considering they're the biggest money making studio right now. Murdoch also said the board unanimously approved the Disney deal because they like the fact that Disney has a track-record for producing hits and taking care of their properties (once upon a time people were worried they'd turn Marvel into a Mickey Mouse operation). 2) The Marvel rights that Fox has are non-transferable. Fox doesn't own the rights to do with as they please; they have an agreement to use the rights but only they can use them. The only way Comcast could buy out Fox and make their own crappy F4 or X-Men movie would be if they continued operating the Fox studio. But Comast already owns Universal and the FCC isn't going to allow them to purchase and continue operating two movie studios (monopoly laws). Thus Comcast would have to dissolve the Fox brand and integrate the Fox properties into Universal. So you'd get a new Predator movie, a new Aliens movie, etc, all being released under Universal Pictures. Once you shut down the Fox studio, the rights to the Marvel characters revert to their parent company, which is Marvel Inc, owned by Disney. So if you're worried about where the Magneto and Dr. Doom end up, worry not.
The pretentiousness of "not memeing" something is hilarious to me. There are memes of Hitler, of every religion in human history, and just about every major event in history...and a music video that deals with social issues is supposed to be the cutoff line?
Nah, I'm just not a fan of it. I'm not about to tell people what to do, but I just don't dig this one.
Some people have been hyper critical of using the shot from Childish Gambino's "This is America" video as a meme because it has a ton of meaning in cultural ways wrt to guns, Jim Crow, etc. It's not a big deal, I simply just don't like it.
#2 isn't true at least regarding F4. Constantin owns those film rights forever. It doesn't matter though because Fox isn't going to sell to Comcast.
Constantin no longer has the rights according to Bob Iger (he said so when he first announced the acquisition of Fox). Constantin apparently is restructuring to focus on euro sports broadcasting.
You said Constantin no longer has the rights. If they don't then who would if Disney doesn't have them? Constantin only brought Fox in as a partner for the distribution of F4 films.
Well that's just lazy writing (on my part). Bob Iger said that, in securing the Fox deal, they will have the rights to Fantastic Four... So I took that and tried to work backwards as to what that means. It's possible I misinterpreted and that the X-Men rights are the only part that's non-transferable since the Constantin/Marvel deal goes back way before Marvel had a movie rights fire sale of their properties when they were on the brink of chapter 11. In that case, and in the worst case scenario that Comcast does secure Fox, then Disney can simply pay Constantin to get the rights back. I guess my overall point was Disney has a window here and they're not going to be outbid, not for Fox I suspect but certainly not for their current biggest cash cow (Marvel).
damnit I forgot about Morena thats my fault even tho she is married to Ryan Atwood aka Jim Gordon which is a bummer I do indeed want to kiss her like I miss her
He might have the two best scenes in the MCU. Certainly in this most recent phase. The Immigrant Song fight on the bridge and his entry to Wakanda are top-tier movie moments.
Thor/Hulk fight scene in Ragnarok > bridge scene, IMO. That scene had it all, and the only thing that might bring it down a little is that Hulk's entrance was in the trailer for 6 months. Imagine if no one knew that was going to happen when they walked into the theater. And that's if we're just going for action. I think pretty much every scene on Sakaar > bridge scene. And it's not like I don't like the bridge scene. It's great.
But just like the IW Wakanda season, the bridge scene is about watching one of the most powerful Avengers realize his true power. He kinda does the same during the gladiator scene, but it’s by accident. He’s also fighting this super nerfed version of Hulk that the MCU is still running with, so that fight loses a little.
Well, every comics instance of Hulk v Thanos has ended with Thanos as victor, but on more than one occasion, Thanos has stated he avoids conflict with Hulk. The Hulk we’ve gotten so far, even at his strongest, would have struggled with Black Dwarf/Cull Obsidian. Maybe making peace with Banner is the catalyst for Hulk finally reaching something resembling his real power. It’s pretty much a foregone conclusion he won’t be the one to put Thanos down, and he shouldn’t be imo, but maybe he Hulks out to a point where he can stand toe-to-toe long enough to be a legit distraction.
Brad Pitt was reportedly involved in early talks to play Cable and when it didn’t work out he told the filmmakers to give him a call if there was anything else he could do. Reynolds then pitched the invisible guy gag, telling Collider that he wanted to think of “the most wasteful way to use the biggest movie star in the world.” He says that Pitt was on set for “about seven minutes,” and he accepted a cup of coffee as part of his payment. This is hilarious to me.
