I’m not sure how I feel about ant man and the wasp. I really liked the first one, but I’m not getting amazing vibes from the trailer
Read the spoilers because I don't care much about this movie. Not surprisingly it sounds completely uninteresting.
We talked about this when the original trailer dropped for the second movie. The first’s trailers really undersold it. Rudd’s chemistry with damn near everyone is what sells his movies, and that’s hard to get from a trailer that’s also trying to pump action. I’m betting this will be just as good as the first, as long as they keep Pena heavily involved.
He's been involved from the beginning. He and Singer are responsible for both the best and worst (hat tip to Bret Ratner) of the franchise/ I'm just ready for Feige to get control. Color, fun, tight plotting. It's going to be great.
I really think it’s going to be great. They’ve barely hinted at the quantum realm stuff. A cool looking bad guy can really cover up anything spoilery in the plot.
I grew up reading/watching X-Men cartoon on Fox. I've given up on the franchise after reading the plot. I was optimistic that Dark Phoenix could change the tide and move the films in a positive direction, but no. Sounds awful. They need to stop trying to be the Avengers --- however, we are also tired of the same theme of persecution to mutants. It's old and stale. The best thing they can do is clean house, remove everyone who's had anything to do with the franchise and start over.
Also, love the girl but I don't trust Sophie Turner's acting chops enough to think she can pull off a proper Dark Phoenix character portrayal.
For the record that plot summary has now been confirmed as a fake. But the movie is still going to suck. How many films have been bumped from November to early the next year, with a massive third-act reshoot and ended up good?
F4 will be the first to get made I bet, and I think they'll nail it. Bright and colorful, balls to the wall crazy with scifi trippy visuals, silly powers and sillier rogues. It's going to be great
I liked the first Xmen reboot movie. Days of Future past was pretty good too. The last one kind of sucked though
First Class is the only film I feel is worth owning for repeat watches. Days of Future Past was alright. Apocalypse was disjointed and wasteful.
X-Men - fine enough movie with some fun moments X2 - great movie that holds up as a product of its time X-Men 3 - nope nope nope First Class - excellent comic book movie, with fun interactions, bold colors; the most MCU-feeling movie of the bunch DOFP - really solid adaptation with some good design choices Apocalypse - the most boring, empty waste of a great supervillain I've seen since Batman v Superman. Apocalypse should have been Fox's Thanos. Instead he was a run of the mill freak of the week.
My plan worked. Wife isn’t that into the comic movies but watches them with me. After IW, she was making fun of the emotional roller coaster I was on. Just took her to see IW and now she’s all tore up. She let out a “no” when groot got dusted. She told me that was awful afterwards and when’s the sequel coming. Now she feels the pain.
Couldn't agree more. Wasting the whole Doomsday/Death of Superman like that still pisses me off and just goes to show how clueless the WB execs really are.
Just spitballing a few options for each off top of my head. Getting wild with it, because fuck it let’s have some fun Reed: Armie Hammer, Leo, Oscar Isaac, Chris Pine Sue: Rose Byrne, Rosamund Pike, Carrie Mulligan, Kerry Washington Ben: Channing Tatum (don’t fucking laugh); Bernthal or Hardy would be perfect here but wasn’t sure given Punisher and Venom how that’d reconcile with also being in MCU Johnny: Sam Claflin, Ansel Elgort, Dylan O’Brien, Viktor: Fassbender, Joaquin Phoenix
1. I would think they would want Sue to be younger than any of those females and FUCK CARRIE MULLIGAN 2. I wouldn't want to put Fassbender in as Viktor because you would get too many Magneto comparisons 3. Sam Claflin is only good at playing a cripple and Ansel Elgort as a cancer patient so I don't think they have the physical physique to play a Johnny 4. I could see Armie play Reed, but Pine would be too close with the Star Trek series to play a serious role in this and at Leo playing in a comic book movie and Isaac playing in one after the Apocalypse abortion
Your casting choices for Sue Storm, whose introduction was as a 17 year old girl...are a bunch of 40 year old women?
Fassbender would be great for Doom but I don't think Marvel would put him in such an iconic role coming off playing Magneto, even if it was just with Fox. On the one hand I'd say Ben Mendelsohn has great presence but I don't know how that accent/lisp would work under a metal mask.
Once Disney acquires the rights to all of its Marvel characters, everyone in Hollywood is going to have some kind of MCU role.
Fassbender would have made a really great Doom. Keeping with that thought, McAvoy would have been a really good Mr Fantastic, I think. Evans was a great casting for Johnny the first time around. You need a similar, younger version. Jordan was a good casting there, too, but obviously the movie was shit. It's easy to go the adopted route, if you cast a non-white as either Sue or Johnny, but they should obviously appear similar in age. 17 isn't necessary, but definitely mid 20s. You could also go with Sue being a little older to fit the romance with an older Mr Fantastic. Ben needs to be similar in age to Reed. Reed - Redmayne, Hugh Dancy, or Sendhil Ramamurthy would be a good pick. Krasinsky would be amazing here. Sue - Amber Stevens West(my top non-white picks here are already involved with Marvel/MCU somewhere - Zazie, Zoe, and Zendaya - Tessa, too), Chloe Moretz, Eliza Coupe - really dependent on how early you want to play up the romance between her and Reed Johnny - Really like the Claflin pick, pick a Wayans - I'm certain there's one in the right age range currently, Alex Pettyfer has the right young-Evans feel Ben - Feel like a lot of the casting for him will be older. I could fucks with David Harbour, Joel Edgerton, I think Boyega would have been a good one for a younger guy, Domenick Lombardozzi feels a bit like a young Chiklis casting Doom - Hi, yes, is Jaime Lannister available?, Joaquin, Skaarsgard feels little too fanboyish and on the nose, but I'm gonna throw it out anyway
Too bad Dave Bautista is Drax, he could be a good Ben Grimm. But then we wouldn't know he could be a good Ben Grimm if he wasn't Drax first.
