I just really didn’t get that vibe on watching the update on the EMCC guys. It seems like there’s a solid possibility that it really was a wrong place, wrong people, and the wrong time. Could be me being naive, but it seemed like this was another sad example of what happens when these guys go home and put themselves around the same people they grew up with.
I thought the same the entire time until Isaiah said “they went to get that money” no way he didn’t know
After a multi hour interrogation with a guy with clearly below average intelligence, I can see them talking him into a circle by saying “why’d they leave” or “why do you think they left?”
Spoiler i think it is really strange that isaiah is in jail but his brother got off. So they think one of them knew what was going on and the other didn't? The whole thing is sad. The father of a newborn is killed over a few hundred bucks, which these guys spend on DORITOS. I don't know if he knew anything or not, but i do believe his attorney when he says Isaiah probably has the mind of a middle school student and was likely just repeating what the officer had been saying over and over during the course of a long interrogation. i couldn't help but think of that kid from making a murderer: https://www.npr.org/2018/06/26/6235...g-a-murderer-won-t-get-heard-by-supreme-court
This coach loves talking about himself. He looks like a bigger version of the retarded guy that Dee dates in Always Sunny. Naw'm sayn?
God damnit this coach is just as bad as the other one. Nothing is ever his fault and he responds to criticism like a complete bitch, yet he rips his players and their generation for being soft.
man when the kids were talking about how cool it would be if their dads came to their games really got to me
And the fact that all his dad and "trainer" did was talk shit about him in every scene was deplorable. But he was still a douche...
EMCC was basically jail. This Compton gringo is a joke. The Qb coach needs those gay ass sunglasses slapped off his head too.
I don’t get the qb coach hate. He’s obviously not that great of a coach being that he’s at a juco. He doesn’t get paid and is basically a GA that has zero control over anything. Henry knows that and abuses it.
Brown is exactly what happens when you hire a recruiter as a head coach. He might be the worst x’s and o’s coach in football
I felt bad for the QB coach, too. He knows that Malik wasn't going to listen to him no matter what he said or did, but still had to kiss his ass because he would be pushed out before Malik would. There's also not much of an age gap between he and Malik, which makes it even more difficult for him to be taken seriously. More than anything, I think dealing with the personality/bitchy behavior of Malik made it awkward for him because he couldn't relate to him on any level. I give him props for living in a college dorm in BFE, working full time as a coach/babysitter, and not getting paid just so he had basically one last shot at coaching. He clearly loves the game, but clearly still has a lot to learn and it seems apparent that he isn't a fit for JUCO.
Yes. JUCO isn’t where you go to learn how to coach. It’s where you go to get the reputation as someone who can resurrect careers. That guy had no idea how to teach the position and was completely out of his element.
The pregame speech before Garden City was pretty hyped. But I had to LOL at him after the game saying “they said I can’t coach”, when he almost cost them the game by chucking up deep passes when everyone’s saying run the bawl
I can almost understand the thought process behind going for the throat but if you are going to do that, have the awareness to take Malik aside and tell him that the throw must be on the sideline so there's no chance it can be picked off. Instead he just jacked everyone up and let Malik throw a jump ball. Absolutely idiotic coaching.
Remember when he called a wildcat jump pass with his 5’9” WR deep in his own side of the field, on 4th down. He had Malik Henry (regardless of feelings, talented) and Rakeem Boyd at his disposal.
It's probably something he inherited from his dad who passed away. And it's also probably tiny as shit
Spoiler I cannot express how much I watched that season and reinforced how that is exactly what not to do if you're a coach. Teams often reflect their coach and, wanna know why the whole operation was a shit show? The head coach is a shit show. The way he talked to his coaches and players was grounds for dismissal. I also don't think people realize how common the QB coach's situation really is. JUCO is where you go to start your career and prove you can recruit, not coach. Every shady recruiting shit you've heard about Division I, put it on steroids at the JUCO level. Messing with grades, dudes figuring out how to get kids' transcripts up to par, all of that. And it's JUCO so you're not under any kind of microscope or rules, for that matter. Malik Henry is awful. Malik Henry also *has* to have depression and anxiety issues present. Every time I watched that kid's facial expressions, you could tell he was struggling. This season was also valuable because it even showed there are Haves and Have Nots at the JUCO level. EMCC had big time facilities, uniforms, even support (hell, they had an academic advisor) for a JUCO football program. ICC didn't have any of that. Anyways, those are my scattershot thoughts.
you never hire a bag man to be the head man that is coach hiring 101 even the Garden City HC knew that
i chuckled when they showed that one kids high school diploma and it was from "21st Century Education Academy" or something. That sounds like if you were making a satirical diploma factory for a tv show lol
Surprised the QB coach isn't getting more heat itt. He doesn't appear to know much of anything except for coaching cliches.
Pretty important position for a FORMER QB to hand over the the QB spot to an unpaid intern. I dont like the QB coach but I dont blame him. Trying to get a start. RBs/TEs should have been his options. The HBC is an awful Head Coach because of this and a bunch of other reasons listed in this thread.
I have only seen one episode and I can’t blame Malik for overriding the HC. He went from a well respected XO guy in Jimbo to a guy that is clueless. The guys a joke. I wouldn’t take him seriously either when my D1 scholarship is on the line. Comes in at halftime saying It’s my fault. Then proceeds to spend 5 minutes blaming everyone but himself. Congruence bud. He’s not HC material. Buddy is a far better coach. He’s just a bigger asshole... so far
At the end of ep 5 now and one of the players talking to Malik caught me off guard. "I wish I had that shit...a dad coming to my games." Fuck
