That was well documented at my school. He clearly has massive insecurities that take him to a bad place. I just don’t know though how you go from a top 10 d1 coach to that guy and feel comfortable. I’d have no confidence. Any reasonable coach would tell Malik stfu about calling your own plays. This guy folded to Malik and started whining about losing the team. You don’t tell your already fragile QB you’re worried about losing the team. HC knew he was out of his element.
He can control acting cheesy as fuck and wearing sunglasses when he doesn't need to. If he came across as a good coach, then people might have a little more sympathy for him. Bad coach and douchey isn't a great combo.
He's definitely really intelligent, but a douche of the highest order and has some serious father/mental health issues. Probably the truest thing said by anyone so far(through 5 eps) is him chirping in the background when Brown asks why the team is so undisciplined. "Who do you think we get it from?"
This season gives me anxiety. It's such a circus. I feel bad for Malik. Dad abandons him and then shows back up when he becomes a national recruit, makes all decisions for him, makes him quit baseball, and now completely hovers overhead. Maybe Malik will try to give baseball a shot. The QB coach may be a bad coach, but at least he tries to be positive when the head coach just shits on everyone. The guy is definitely a HS freshman team coach though. I wouldn't go to either EMCC or ICC if I was a player after watching this show. They're just madhouses.
Why on earth would the QB coach take heat here? It's very obvious this is one of the first jobs in coaching he's had and he's with people he can't learn from. There's no real structure there to improve his craft. Hopefully he uses his time on camera to show a coach out there that he's willing to put in work to get better. I'd hire a guy who's willing to give his all, you can work with that. He doesn't pretend to know everything, which is what the rest of the staff does.
the funniest thing about this all is you can tell exactly where people are in the season when they post
You talking about Bea or that other kid they had to play for a bit when Malik was out? That other kid was assss but Bea seemed decent but the offense was just such a shit show
Good enough for one of the historically best programs in fcs Even Malik Henry completed like 50% of his passes. No one on that offense had any clue what they were doing. They're lucky as shit Carlos, Jackson, and Boyd were ballers with the ball in their hands
was talking about Bea....offense is a shit-show but he's so sloppy and makes awful decisions...can't really blame him when he's being coached up by JB and Diaz just watched the Butler game ep...Bea came in on the last play when it was 4th and 20ish...threw an incomplete 5 yard out within seconds of getting the snap lol...everyone on sideline like WTF
That's crazy that's he's now at Boise State, I didn't know that. He's looked awful every time I've seen him so far. Does he get better towards the end of the season or something? Edit: He's a walk-on at Boise State
It's just editing. He makes some decent plays when they're focused on people who aren't him with the camera. He's not great but he's ok
I don't think he's very good and apparently he was a walk on at Montana too. Glad to see he got the fuck out of Independence, though.
For being an offensive savant, his offense was terrible. Did they even show the 9-6 game where ICC didn't even break 200 yds of offense ? http://www.indypirates.com/sports/fball/2017-18/Schedule
He’s right that players make the most of a difference. In that regard it isn’t a great statement for JUCO football that this guy can come in and have success. He’s literally fighting assistant coaches and having players quit during games.
Some of this stuff is scripted, as im sure some of you figured. the dodge city game they did 3 takes of the bus scene
Winning is the only thing that will keep Brown's players (and assistant coaches, I guess) behind him. This season showed that if/when they face any sort of adversity, they all turn. If you're not a good X's and O's coach, like he's admitted to, you better be damn good at managing personnel/personalities.
I’m not saying it’s all his fault... he’s just an actual QB coach, when he should be a GA somewhere learning while he holds blocking pads and sets up cones for drills. As a QB coach he is extremely unproductive and in over his head. ... and yeah, the sunglasses, “big dog” and man bun aren’t helping matters.
Depressing how all these kids are convinced they're for sure making it to the NFL and that's their ticket. Maybe 2 kids on the roster of any JUCO at a given time will ever get close to playing in the NFL.
The producers wanted to get it right? I dont know the reason but i know the dodge city coaches were not happy they had to wait...and thats coming from a dodge city coach
I just started watching this show because my wife is a fan. Started with season 3 so I don't know much about it and am only through the Dodge City game. I was/am just surprised to hear there's scripting at all.
